The American Revolution was fought to uphold that declaration in 1776 that stated,
"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."
The Revolutionaries succeeded, yet still blacks were still enslaved, women could not vote, and the Indians were "terrorists" on their own land.
Which bring me here to today,
We have people bemoaning that christians are being persecuted, and that if we got rid of Obama and went back to the founding father's constitution as good christians, "all would be right".
All the while forgetting that the "christian" founding fathers cared little for the poor, the indians, women, blacks, gays, any non-owners of property, for that matter.
Today, hundreds of years after the American Revolution was fought to guarantee humanities god given rights in the United States, I still am not afforded the same rights as heterosexual citizens. While I am not being killed off in the same fashion as the american indians were, I am part of a group of citizens who still are fighting for equal rights.
So when people cry that they are being "persecuted" as christians, it's honestly insulting, knowing the true history of persecuted minorities in america (many times at the hands of "christians") and the story of people like me that are still working towards full equality.
I mean what group tries to claim they represent both 90+% of america and a "minority status" at the same time?
