Yahoo: How Republicans plan to win over the youth vote

Two groups, the Young Guns Action Fund and Maverick PAC—the latter was co-founded by George P. Bush, nephew of former President George W. Bush and son of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush—will focus on finding young Republican political talent and supporting them with money. The two organizations announced a strategic partnership Tuesday that organizers hope will increase engagement with voters that were lost to Obama in 2008. One short-term goal, of course, is to narrow the enthusiasm gap between young Republicans and Democrats, but ultimately, they're looking far beyond the next election.

"The relationship is about developing something for the long-term that looks past just this November," YG Action Fund President John Murray told reporters during a breakfast meeting in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday. "By the midterms in 2014, perhaps we've made a little more progress; by the next presidential we've made some more progress, and [we've gained] ... the capacity to build that over time because it's going to take time."

Here's how the partnership will work: The YG Action fund, a super PAC, will scour the country looking for new young Republican House and Senate candidates. (The group is similar to, but independent from, the National Republican Congressional Committee's "Young Guns" program.) The Action fund will support these new GOP candidates and independently bolster their campaigns. Meanwhile, MavPAC will build its own base of young, new donors and fundraising bundlers, whom they plan to connect with the new recruits. The two groups will share data based on the information they gather from new supporters. They plan to spend $5 million this election cycle on the joint project.

They are looking for "talent"

Get it? Young "talent" who are charismatic and can influence young people to vote Neocon. And they will be well paid. Buy off youth "leaders". The same strategy they have used with the old lamestream talking heads.

In 2008 68% of young voters

In 2008 68% of young voters showed they were incapable of critical thinking when they voted for Obama. Doing some research would have helped them make a wise decision. Have they learned from their mistake?

PUH-ha-ha Good luck wi dat

The all-but-dead republican party was handed a HUGE block of liberty minded youth. And what did they do with it???
Our way...or the highway kids.
Not going to sell these new kids on the block the same old neo-con BS these days, no matter what kind of sugar they pile on.
The liberty movement is growing. And that hijacked tea-o-con party stuff is dead-in-the-water. The liberty movement will not be so easy to hijack. We already know who the con men are, and understand words don't mean anything without walking the walk.
As I said. Good luck wi dat.

Not gonna work

the youth will take freedom first, hand outs second and war never.

I think it's funny that the

article`fails to mention the person who actually HAS the youth vote.

What people need to learn and understand ...

... those who don't already know (which is most people) ... is that the CURRENT Republican Party is NOT lead by conservatives, much less libertarians. The CURRENT Republican Party insiders who control the party are NEO-CONSERVATIVES, which is a political philosophy that is NOT conservative, despite the name.

They use the word "conservative" in their name to fool people. Neo-cons are actually SOCIALISTS -- or really, facists, which is a branch of socialism.

They are STATISTS above all else. They want BIG government. This is why most Republican voters cannot figure out why George Bush, John Boehner, et al continue to vote for BIG goverment. Most Republican voters THINK that the GOP is lead by conservatives, due to the rhetoric.

In reality, the GOP is lead by SOCIALISTS. Once that is understood, it becomes clear what the hell has been going on for the past few decades when the GOP has had political power in Washington, D.C.

And my friends -- young or old -- THIS is the message that must be communicated to Republican voters (or Republican recruits).

The CURRENT GOP is lead by STATIST/SOCIALIST insiders who call themselves "neo-conservatives" and speak in small government rhetoric, but THEY DO NOT BELIEVE THEIR OWN B.S.

Having said that ... there is no reason that just because the CURRENT GOP (and Donkey Party, too) is lead by socialists does NOT mean that the FUTURE GOP must also be lead by such scumbags.

The KEY to turning around any young people who don't like the Democrat message is to get them to understand that the GOP message is ONLY RHETORIC because of WHO controls the GOP -- TODAY.

Question to young voter: Do you want socialism?
Answer: No.
Question: Do you realize that supporting Mitt Romney is actually a vote FOR MORE SOCIALISM?
Answer: [Blank look on face]

GOP trying to steal RP's thunder?

With RP bringing in younger voters and getting the younger voter to run for elected offices and capturing the political apathetic. Will the groups mentioned in the article try to take credit for bringing young voters into the party and growing the party?

Don't be foolish

I can just imagine how this will go down:

"Congratulations on your win! Now be grateful to us for getting you here and vote for our bills. Don't do anything rash until you have been here a while and know how the game works. We will help you figure out how you should vote. Trust us. :)"

I don't trust them.

George P. Bush endorsed Jon Huntsman.

George P. Bush is the typical centrist. You know, the non-Conservative "young" Conservative type who appeals to dumb-downed, non-nationalistic, non-patriotic, non-ideological, uneducated (but educated), politically apathetic youth. Anyone who is written favorably by CNN's mushy moderate John Avlon and raging Neocon's Neocon David Frum like Jon Huntsman was doesn't deserve to be given a second look by anyone who believes in Constitutional government, personal liberty, and a pro-American foreign policy. Huntsman showed just what a douchebag he and his daughters were back in January with this:

Cockiness and overconfidence that Ron Paul Republicans are the future of the Republican Party will not erase the fact that the Bushs, Roves, and Kochs have the PACs necessary to do major recruiting. We needn't forget that for every 18-30 yr. old Ron Paul Republican, there are at least a dozen 18-20 yr. olds out there who are still deluded by Obama, deluded by Fox News, or politically apathetic. We've still got lots of work to do.

2016: Clinton vs. Bush?

I think that is probably the "dream" contest for the establishment.

You are right, it'll still be a fight. That is why Liberty Republican need to focus the next 4 years like they have been the last 4.

I'd like something like Solomon vs. Paul.

Yea, this'll work. Sending

Yea, this'll work. Sending out another Bush as the GOP messenger is sure to appeal to the youngsters.

GOP wants the youth?

Everyone, be cautious of the GOP's interest in youth.

You think the GOP is going to promote liberty to attract the young? If so, you think liberty will be more than a mirage?

Just keep yourself and any young person you know on guard against manipulation. If you're young, guard against manipulation. Freedom, acceptable. Anything else, unacceptable.

Roll on, you RPers.

They plan to win over youth

They plan to win over youth vote by banning 18 year old delegates like Evan Kenney & sending recent Notre Dame student Charlie Nejedly to commit election fraud all over the country.

Immoral funding of Military Industrial Complex by Federal Reserve and US taxation system must stop!!!! End illegal/unconstitutional wars! Preserve US currency!

Sounds more like bribing than

Sounds more like bribing than winning.

Develop some bureaucratic program and pay people to vote for you.

Here's a thought: wanna attract REAL support? Offer a platform that is worth supporting.

Isn't it amazing how easy it is to read between the lines and see the true intentions of these guys once you understand the true nature of government, power, and human nature. However late (as usual), these guys are going to try to capitalize on us youngster's enthusiasm while simultaneously moving us towards the mainstream. Go f yourselves republicans... you had your chance before you cheated us out of the election as well as our futures.

This is exactly

how the old farts would decide to bring in the youth vote. Forget all of the youth begging and fighting to become delegates to the convention, forget the grassroots, simply come up with a top down old fart establishment group or groups to recruit and convince youth they should be Republican. This is one big joke.

it's NOT a joke...

...this is how the game is played whether we like it or not!

Every man has his PRICE is the saying, and in this generation of totally Godless leadership, more deals are still closed on the golf course and in taverns than anywhere else in our totally consumption-based abyssmal economy!

If the old guard has the MONEY, they will employ the bread and circuses method to coral the young ... if their parents have dumped them, and they are SUFFERING and scratching their heads saying this country sucks because it is run by crooks and hypocrites; they will/have FOUND US, and will not be easily bribed...those are the youth we WANT, the critical thinkers!

This is a war about PRINCIPLES - and we have the TRUE patriotism, and that will last - the old guard has their worthless FRN's, Ivy League University-deriverd ponzi schemes, and their house of cards charades/mirages ... and that WON'T last!

Had an interesting conversation with a clerk at Academy

Many months ago now... And 'somehow' the conversation turned to Ron Paul and a group of young men supporters of Dr. Paul's who met monthly here in this big city. I poked him a little and asked, "So, you're for him because of DRUGS?"

And he replied simply: "No, we support Dr. Paul because we believe he's the only one who offers us any hope for us to have a Future."

He is one of the "Delivered by Dr. Paul group"; grew up in Lake Jackson; friends with the family; went to school with the Paul kids. Said they are highly respected in the community.

Regardless, his comment/reply has lingered with me, uppermost in my mind...

Have you guys met any College

Have you guys met any College Republicans who DON'T support Ron Paul? They are the *essence* of douchebaggery. The head of a local College Republican group actually came up to me and wanted me to help campaign for Mitt Romney--I told him I'm going to take a pass on that. Then I got elected as a delegate and he didn't. He even wore a GOP tie with elephants on it. LOL @ him.

Also I just want to say, if anyone ever catches me wearing a tie with an American flag or GOP elephants on it, I give you permission to beat me with a tire iron.

The only way the GOP gets the "youth" vote

is to redefine youth to ages 65+.

Shouldn't be much of a stretch, seeing as how they've already redefined freedom, liberty, limited government, and fiscal responsibility.

Redefining, the Name of the Game

Eggsactly, bytejockey.

That's why every RPer and especially those who would be in the trenches, the youth because that's who the GOP is trying to attract, guard against manipulation and deception: Redefining -- that is, word games -- in what's written and spoken is what the GOP will not try but will do.

Guard yourselves and defend freedom, everyone!

Indoctrinate Them Early

LoL ... Personally, I think most youth are much smarter than these bozos attempting to sucker younger generations into their cozy clubhouse of corruption... ;)
