A new HBO drama series entitled The Newsroom features an opening scene that basically boils down why America has lost the title of “greatest country in the world.”

In the scene Will McAvoy, a television anchor played by Jeff Daniels, tells it like it is when a sorority girl asks the question, “Can you say why America is the greatest country in the world?” This is well worth watching.

I absolutely loved this!

Even though I could tell he had a liberal slant, due to him saying "we used to have a war on poverty" and I assumed he meant government should be declaring that war, I still think this was AWESOME because its exactly how I feel! How the Constitution and Declaration are the best pieces of writing in the world, yet all we do is state empty slogans about being great and resort to jingoism at all times, yet not give any substance as to why we are great, but that we are just simply "exceptional" as if it was a divine gift or something. The reason we WERE so great was due to the fact that we were so free... Free from government or any people thinking they know whats best for us. Because of this freedom, we have prospered, but the government has squandered this greatness from us and it really got bad from Bush to Obama... So much to say on this topic that I cant go any further without writing 10 pages.
