Ben Swann: Update on the plurality of States dispute, and clarification.

"An update on the 5 state plurality issue and the Ron Paul campaign. I have been in contact with a number of people and here is what I know so far:

1. Paul has a majority of delegates in at least 7 states. Colorado (but many are uncommitted), Nevada (which unless a judge intervenes will probably be considered bound), Massachusetts (where the GOP de-credentialed delegates), Iowa, Maine, Minnesota, Louisana (which has a combination of bound and unbound delegates, unbound are Congressional District delegates the vast majority of which are Paul's)

2. If you look at Rule 40 in the RNC rules, it requires a plurality of at least 5 states in order to have a name entered into nomination.

3. Apparently "bound" states like Nevada cannot enter Paul's name into nomination because they are "bound" to Romney. Again, this issue is VERY QUESTIONABLE since the RNC does not consider any delegates bound... and this isn't even in a round of voting. Plus, the RNC rule 40 makes NO distiction between bound and unbound.. simply says a candidate needs a plurality of delegates from at least 5 states.

4. Winning Nebraska's unbound delegates would give a 5th unbound state to Paul's column.

5. Federal lawsuit to declare all delegates unbound is still pending

6. Delegates at the RNC could argue that their "binding" is ONLY to vote for a candidate in the first round and has no weight on whether they place a name in nomination.

Lastly, and perhaps most importantly.. the rules of the 2012 Republican National Convention won't be decided until the RNC, therefore it will be up to liberty delegates to wage their strategy and influence the convention as best they can."

AIPAC and the israeli lobby have far too much power and sawy here for my comfort. The zionist need to be routed out. You should look up Benjamin Franklin and George Washingtons comments on Jews. back then they just called them jews. Today we know them as zionist or zionist jews.

Well you certainly are doing your best to taint

Dr. Paul with your message of hate. Please take your biases and go play in the Romney/Obama camps which appreciate collectivism.

Thanks, Ben.

Another good insight. The plurality issue is so muddy, it's near impossible to get the official position as it stands now. I only hope that there's an indisputable clean sweep in Nebraska to put the issue to bed.

Thanks Ben, and good luck this weekend Nebraska. I'm watching from New Zealand, hopefully all the good karma I'm sending makes it over there.

We can

look up the issue at Wikipedia. It has been displaying more or less accurate count on plurality states for the past 5 months.

For example, in LA, RP got majority due to winning "at large" delegates. But those are bound to Santorum who won the beauty contest. Therefore, LA does not count for plurality win. No wonder Romney did not contest the results. Let's see how it plays our. Looks like nobody knows for sure.

what are you talking about

Ron Paul won the caucus of LA which were not bound to Santorum. Romney got 5 and Santorum got 10 from the Primary. The remaining were determined by the convention and the Caucus. Which was mostly Ron Paul. So Those delegates are pledged to Paul.

What about Mass?

These delegates need to JUST SHOW UP and vote. The GOP cannot strip them of their status just because it doesn't like for whom they intend to vote.

Colorado is not a sure thing

There are 14 unpledged delegates and 6 delegates pledged to Santorum.

In order to have a plurality in Colorado, we will need ALL 14 unpledged delegates AND 5 of 6 Santorum pledged delegates.

If just 2 Santorum delegates aren't with us, then we don't have Colorado.

Good news! Thank you. Now . .

Good news! Thank you. Now . . . if our delegates play their cards right, and claim as Swann suggests that being bound to vote on the first ballot has no bearing on placing his name in nomination, then we could possibly get a President Paul! :)

Blessings )o(

The RNC does NOT start on Monday Aug 27th!!

I want to make sure everyone realizes that the convention does NOT start on Monday Aug 27th but rather the week prior with committee meetings. Here is the schedule from Republican Party of Texas's Chris Elam:

The week prior to the convention (August 19 to 25), the following events will take place:

- Platform Committee at the Tampa Marriott Waterside Hotel & Marina (Sun. Aug. 19 to Tues. Aug. 21)
o Welcome Reception Sunday evening with meetings on Mon. and Tues.

- RNC Summer Meeting at the Tampa Marriott Waterside Hotel & Marina (morning of Wed. Aug. 22 to Fri. Aug. 24)
o All RNC members should plan on arriving either Tues. evening or Wed. morning

- Convention Rules Committee at the Hyatt Regency Tampa (Thurs. Aug 23 to Sat. Aug. 25)
o Orientation on Thurs., meeting on Fri. and Sat. if necessary

- Credentials Committee at the Hyatt Regency Tampa (Thurs. Aug 23 to Sat. Aug. 25)
o Orientation on Thurs., meeting on Fri. and Sat. if necessary

- The week of convention, is the first meeting for the Permanent Organization Committee Permanent Organization Committee at the Tampa Bay Times Forum (Mon. Aug. 27)

I wonder about making the

I wonder about making the platform decisions before they clear up the rules issues. Will both sets of delegate slates get to be present and vote as equals till the rules meeting decides which if them are legitimate? Is this another ploy to dissuade Paul supporters from attending or will be come August. It seems kind of funny to have the credentials meeting last not first. The week before the convention is what I REALLY want to see.

This needs to be a post.

This information is highly important.

Done and Done!

Turn This Post Into a Thread?

Perhaps you should try turning this post into a thread for others to see? Everyone who is a delegate may not see your thoughts as is, unless they already know this information ? You could then get people to spread the information on Facebook. Since, the info could be seen from a link posted from the thread onto people's walls.

Done and Done!

now you bafoons know why Paul abruptly stopped campaigning.

and Rand endorsed robme.

Pauls name is all ready on the ballot and the delegates can vote their conscience.

"OH NO! He has a SON?" Neoconservatives and Liberals EVERYWHERE!

Why would those be reasons to stop? Seems to me these would be reasons to Jam it into high gear!!

What am I missing with your commend 1777?

"Government is the entertainment division of the military-industrial complex". - Frank Zappa

saving money for the general

saving money for the general election?

Why did Rand support Robme?

please explain.

Maybe out of "frustration"..

I don't think Rand wants to wait around for 30 years to get elected for President and does not mind losing some "hard core" Liberty Movement supporters in exchange for some support within the mainstream Republican Party.

Some politicians lie by making promises they do not intend to keep to get themselves elected and once in office they betray the people that voted for them; in Rand's case, I believe he is doing some pandering to the establishment so he can get elected and then "betray" the establishment in favor of the Liberty Movement agenda.

I refuse to believe that the apple has fallen far from the tree.

I try to change people every day. Do You?

Not enough Ron Paul supporters

Too many Ron paul suppoters didn't do what Ron paul asked us ALL to do.

1. Join the GOP

2. Get a committee seat on your GOP

3. Become a VETTED delegate

It became pretty apparent too many supporters were holding out in hopes of FORCING Ron Paul to run third party or go Indy.

I have 14 open seats on my committee. I'm the ONLY RP GOP. You expect me to beat the other 6 seated Neocons alone?

You expect Ron to win when no one is seated backing him?

FOURTEEN OPEN SEATS.. whatcha waiting for, the Neocons to appoint their friends, like they did with delegates?

Confusing times Granger. Confusing world. We may NOT be 100 percent correct in our total picture of the world, but we are doing the best we can with the information we have. And, some are asking "how can I serve." Like you did.

How much we could all learn from each other....from the experiences we have had individually...in a *safe* atmosphere of curiosity, honesty and willingness to share, listen, learn and grow.

What if we just felt *safe* in sharing like Granger is doing and that was the norm rather than the exception?

Thank you fonta

It's because I followed RP to the best of MY understanding and ability, that I post as openly and honestly as I can. It doesn't matter what others THINK or BELIEVE about what I am doing. It matters what RP would THINK and BELIEVE that I am doing in his honor, respect, and in my trust!

Besides my belief in God, whose will is the ultimate, what RP and his campaign THINK and BELIEVE is important to me politically.

Ron Paul, Rand Paul, and Ron Paul's campaign are my political leaders, MY compass, my way, for MY state.

This is not to say it's as easy as cracking an egg, but it is as easy as making lemon squares from scratch, which not only taste better than the stuff in boxes, no matter how good the company, but less expensive, (including the high cost of raising pampered chickens).

If it was impossible, Ron Paul wouldn't have asked ALL of us to try.

Not only is his idea possible, but if we had simply taken the time and effort, he would have won in a land slide.

Thank you for being a true friend to me fonta. I hope that one day, I can prepare for you and yours, a taste of Mendocino, where prince mushrooms, boletes, chantrells and abalone are cuisine de jour.
