The Pentagon wants awards for bravery for drone pilots who kill people remotely far from the field of battle

The effort to depict drone warfare as some sort of courageous and noble act is intensifying:

The Pentagon is considering awarding a Distinguished Warfare Medal to drone pilots who work on military bases often far removed from the battlefield. . . .

[Army Institute of Heraldry chief Charles] Mugno said most combat decorations require “boots on the ground” in a combat zone, but he noted that “emerging technologies” such as drones and cyber combat missions are now handled by troops far removed from combat.

just like

getting the Nobel Peace Prize .... going to war and going to war and dropping bombs etc....

I say give em all a medal for not upholding the constitution by participating in this unjust lunacy.

Just come home.

RP 2012

(our only chance)

That peace prize will forever make me sick.

How about the TSA?

I think they should also get medals for bravery, I mean, who knows what they might find when they stick their slimy hands down somewhere where they shouldn't go?

They could get a medal named... The "Slimy Groping Hand That Brought Fear And Shame To Grandma Medal" something along that line.

We could even have a special holiday for these slimy handed slugs.
They could march together with the drone murderers in a special holiday parade for infamous people of our time.

I think we may be on to something here.
More suggestions are welcome!

like getting a gold medal for

like getting a gold medal for being the Ms. Pac Man Champ.

These weasles who sit in rooms

thousands of miles away from any danger, they murder people, innocent people, and think themselves as something?
I'd betcha that these weasles would cringe at the very thought of having to fight with a real enemy!
I know people like this who play these stupid video games such as halo and the like and are afraid to sign a paper to end the fed fearing they might be put on a list.

COWARDS!

They should get medals such as the cowardly lion got!
Yeah that's the kind they should get.

Murdering COWARDS!

Name it the MCM medal .... The "Murdering Cowards Medal"

Wow. So we've gone from Alvin

Wow. So we've gone from Alvin York and Audie Murphy to some desk jockey 10,000 miles away from a battlefield obliterating "suspects" with the push of a button.

I wonder what the medal would look like? Maybe a computer with a chicken's head on top of it? or maybe two swords crossed behind a computer mouse?

Do they give purple hearts for calluses on the joystick finger?

How far the military has fallen.

Will they give them

medals that can be remotely exploded at some random time in the future, when they have no idea it would happen, just like what they do to their drone victims?

It would be fitting.

BigT, you bust me up!

lol

I want a medal

If they are getting medals for BRAVERY, i think i desrve one for bravely playing call of duty on my xbox. Flying drones isn't a video game, but takes the same amount of courage... NONE.

Only if they do themselves in the process.

“emerging technologies” that have run amok.

Hell..

Might as well make this compulsory and add it to the curriculum in a course in computer science and have the job done for free.

donvino

This is a great idea!

Now we will have the names of the war criminals who were "just following orders."
