Judge Andrew Napolitano Praises Gary Johnson

The following is from a transcript of of an audio recording of Judge Andrew Naplitano's presentation at Freedom Fest in Las Vegas on Thursday (12 July 2012) afternoon. His presentation was entitled “A Government of Waste and Lawlessness.” Here are the comments he made regarding Libertarian Presidential nominee Gary Johnson:

34:30: “I’m going to really go off script for a minute. . . .

There’s really no script; there’s just a note telling me I’m talking too long.

(Laughter.)

There is a person in this room, who I must invite to the attention of everyone, because he has the courage to stand in front of the establishment and say, “Enough is enough!”

Whether he wins or loses in his latest quest to set you free, he is a figure of historical significance and profound contemporary interest. He was once called, “Governor No!” when he said to the legislature of his state, “You are not going to interfere with commercial transactions that are voluntarily entered into.”

Maybe . . . who knows . . . after this campaign, or the next one, he might be in 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Former New Mexico Governor, whose sandal straps I am unworthy to fasten, who will speak here tomorrow (sic) at 10:30, Governor Gary Johnson.

(Gary stands, applause.)

That’s what we should be doing. Challenging the establishment, reminding them that there is a Constitution and a Declaration of Independence that put restrictions on the government.”

(Governor Johnson is speaking tomorrow — Saturday July 14th 2012, at 10:30 am — two days after Judge Napolitano’s remarks above.)

This is great news. Now former Governor Jesse Ventura and Judge Andrew Napolitano have commented favorable on Gary Johnson's campaign for President. The website is www.garyjohnson2012.com There is a moneybomb going on through Monday, 16 July to raise funds to buy advertising to help get Gary up to 15% in the national polls so he will be able to take part in the Presidential candidate debates. Your kind support will be much appreciated. Live free.

One Thing HAS Changed, John

At one time it was moving and motivational to see videos and hear chants...WE ARE RON PAUL. However, that has changed to "dedicated to"..."inspired by" ...etc.

The true liberty garden is being pruned and those who never really understood the seeds Ron Paul was planting are no longer "dedicated to" his wise words, the legacy of a life of service, his action plan for real change.

The new liberty garden "inspired by" has all kinds of plants that do not belong in the original garden...and after using him in every way imaginable they soon will have no more use for him. They have a new garden and are picking up every shallow root plant they can find to fill their new "we the people."

Several observations: First, why would it be necessary to first compare another candidate with a Ron Paul...say he is history and you have a replacement that is just like him, only better. Then proceed to tear him down in order to lift that other candidate?

Another observation is that those who express a different kind of "dedicated to and inspired by" are being ridiculed and even called "Candidate X Bashers" akin to the old ploy of *anti-semitic...anti-black" etc. And yet it appears that Ron Paul bashing is permitted and lauded as intelligent.

So when all the pruning and weeding is done, no longer will the rally cry be WE ARE RON PAUL...but, rather, I am Ron Paul. I am a Ron Paul Republican. So, that has changed. I think Ron Paul would be pleased.

I was never Ron Paul. I

I was never Ron Paul. I found him to be too flawed as a liberty candidate, carrying around all kinds of old baggage typical of 80 year olds and his incongruent social conservative and statism really turn me off. And he has no experiencing running government like Gary does.

No, I was always more of a Gary johnson guy. I just am glad that Ron Paul is retiring and that there are people that are going to do a better job of representing our interests.

We could all tell you were never a Ron Paul supporter from the

asinine way you comment. For instance when you make ridiculous statements like this.

"No, like many Libertarians, my IQ is MENSA level (I just think it's stupid joining clubs).

You didn't address the fact that Gary Johnson is the best person in the race, with or without Ron Paul in it."

http://www.dailypaul.com/244713/gary-johnson-might-not-be-on...

Mensa IQ and you believe GJ is the best candidate over Paul with all the flaws GJ has?

You are likened to a worm feasting on a rotting apple in my opinion John Ashman but the ironic thing is you are a special kind of worm, one that actually starts the rot so it can feed.

November 6th 2012 I voted for Dr.Ron Paul
"We must remember, elections are short-term efforts. Revolutions are long-term projects." ~ Ron Paul

Of course he's a better

Of course he's a better candidate.

1. He doesn't say crazy things that puts people off.

2. He has 8 years of governing experience Ron Paul has never had.

3. He doesn't say one thing and do another like Ron Paul (ear marks, flag burning, immigration, etc)

4. You don't have to ask with which Gary Johnson you are speaking like you do with Ron Paul

5. Gary Johnson ran and grew a real business for 20 years.

6. Gary Johnson is a better libertarian.

Debate if you can.

The debate was over when Gary was in grade school

and Paul was in DC building his case.

This is embarrassing.Again the support is NOT there.

Gary has to grovel and take matching funds, another clear sign of NO SUPPORT

What is there 9 people at his meet and greet?

The one point in your face is that if Gay is such a great candidate better than Ron Paul how come Pauls stance on supporting Gary has changed?

If he was the super hero you propound he is he wouldn't be at 6% nationally.HE WILL NEVER MAKE 15% TO GET INTO THE DEBATES

Ron Paul has never gotten

Ron Paul has never gotten more than .5% in a national election. So, yeah, it was over for him 24 years ago.

Of Course You Never Admired

...or listened to Ron Paul. Do you honestly think anyone on this blog is unaware of that?

I do not know if it applies to you; however, I have found that being *teachable* is the most satisfying thing in life. And, to me..one is not teachable when the self...the ego...takes up all of the space between the ears. There is simply no room for anything else.

We all have a level of consciousness beyond which we cannot move...unless we are willing to exhibit some grace in listening to others.

However, John...I am really not especially important on this blog to you. The kind of bantering back and forth that you seem to enjoy is really not possible with me. I have studied the Libertarian Party...its many divisions and purposes...the Koch and CATO influence...the tactics of those like Roger Stone. I have rejected your movement.

It seems to me that if your real intent is to get your candidate elected, blogging time should be spent healing the under the surface rifts within the Libertarian Party in order to grow your base. Work mainstream Republicans that Gary formed friendships with when he was a Republican. Help him reach out to all the ex-governors...well, except Romney. How about democrats. How about Christians and Mormons. How about the military. You seem to do this full-time. I think you pretty much have garnered everyone here that you can. Isn't it time for you to go work some other areas where you can grow you base beyond that of Ron Paul? Just thinking...

fonta

I like Ron Paul for what he

I like Ron Paul for what he has tried to do, but I can't admire someone who proposes a flag burning amdnedment or thinks that immigration is a constitutional duty of the federal government.

Well, since you want to be

Well, since you want to be pedantic, I assume you would agree that Nap SUPPORTS Gary's candidacy.

Let Me Just Say

...that at my age I have been both surprised and disappointed often when I see someone's *true colors* and learn they were not as "growed up" as I thought they were. I figure God is not finished wi;th them yet.

If the Judge really did say that he "felt unworthy to fasten the sandals of Gary Johnson"...then I readily admit that I was wrong about the Judge and even feel that as a Supreme Court Judge he would be just as easily swayed as all the rest.

Ron Paul would never accept such a statement from any supporter. In fact, it would be more truthful to say that he has been willing to "wash the feet" of those around him...modeling for all how one can serve as a politician without compromise...without lambasting or tearing down. He spent a lifetime of showing that there is another way...a moral, godly, consistent, straight forward way that never requires "dirty tricks" or pandering.

He was our first glimpse of a better world..perhaps even a someday one world government embracing the brotherhood of man with freedom and peace for all. He was our first glimpse at what a wise senior statesman would be like. Someday, with more like him, it will be a better world.

fonta

Typical. Now that Judge

Typical. Now that Judge Nap has endorsed, generally speaking, Johnson, you suddenly have no use for him.

You understand why the whole world, not just me, calls you Paulbots, right?

No, Not Right

...and I have no reason to respond in kind by calling you a name.

After all, I know nothing about you other than you have never been inspired by Ron Paul and, in fact, have belittled him and ridiculed him in every way imaginable.

You came here five weeks ago for one reason and one reason only. You have shown no interest in any other topic or issue. You have even belittled your own candidate without realizing it.

Not knowing Gary Johnson, you are his face and rhetoric to me. Would he also post "Pot Smokers Unite" or call people names or claim to know for a fact that "the whole world" scoffs and laughs at Ron Paul and anyone who supports him? Is that "I climbed a mountain" Gary Johnson? Does he behave the way you do? Does he sell a belief the way you do? Does he judge everyone who does not agree with him the way you do? Are his arguments equally shallow?

fonta

Who's the one being tedious here, John?

All I've been saying is don't read too much into the subject. You are forcing a non-issue down our throats and not gaining any ground. All you and your friends are doing is turning potential votes away from Johnson. Plain truth is the best way to go, not spin.

So what's with your wild

So what's with your wild accusation that people are trying to say that he endorsed him, when the phrase used was "praised".

Technically, he did endorse him. So either way.......

1. They were posted by two

1. They were posted by two different people, so that clearly doesn't help your point.

2. Nap endorsed Gary. Words matter. Definitions matter. What you want is a SPECIFIC endorsement. Fine. But that doesn't lessen that fact that he endorsed him as a candidate. I don't know if he MEANT to endorse him or if he just got caught up in the moment or whether he would clarify what he said by walking it back or by upping it to a specific, exclusionary endorsement such as "I endorse Gary Johnson for President" or "Now that Ron Paul is out, I am supporting Gary Johnson" or "hey, I just wanted to say I like him, but hey, I like Romney too" (Ummm, don't think so).

So, what's with the wild accusation that people

are trying to say that he endorsed him?? Are you serious?? This thread BEGAN as a "Napolitano ENDORSES Johnson" thread a couple nights ago, and then got retracted and changed to "Praise"..Supposedly with some member of Johnsons Nevada campaign or something creating a new account here just to try and "confirm" misleading "facts" that people were trying to spread.

So either way....Your whole entire arguments a moot point. Endorsements don't matter. Napolitano endorsed Dr. Paul MULTIPLE times...What's your point? Is Judge Napolitano gonna play a role in Johnsons cabinet or somethin? Highly likely there won't even be a cabinet..Or perhaps you'd like to take after your buddy Tom(LegalizeLiberty) and claim AT LEAST 3 different times that Johnson said he would appoint Napolitano to the SCOTUS...Tom is a liar...Johnson said he would appoint people LIKE Napolitano, NOT Napolitano himself. Tom was corrected, by myself, on this issue MORE THAN ONCE. Again, the HANDFUL of Johnson supporters here that continue to paraphrase, mislead, and outright LIE just to try and make their candidate sound better. Not only that, but to actually try and convince people that Ron Paul has ABSOLUTELY ZERO chance, and that Johnson is somehow a better alternative BEFORE the convention even convenes. And being VERY disrespectful and ignorant in the process.

De criminalize Liberty!

You guys actually think Ron

You guys actually think Ron Paul is still in the race.

Guess what an endorsement is.

Public praise of a something or someone.

TECHNICALLY, unless Judge Nap wants to walk it back, by praising him publicly for his Presidential run he endorsed him.

He didn't make an exclusive endorsement, which is to say "Johnson is better than anyone else". But he clearly endorsed him as A candidate. A GENERAL endorsement as opposed to a SPECIFIC or EXCLUSIONARY endorsement. But he publicly endorsed him and that's a fact.

You closet Neo-cons needs to

You closet Neo-cons needs to get your stories straight.

Is he "disqualified" because he won't rule out ALL military action without knowing any facts?

Or is it because he doesn't take the unconstitutional Ron Paul Neo-Con stance on immigration?

Or is it because he believes in free trade like libertarians?

You guys are so inconsistent but I guess it's easy when one person tells you what to believe.

He is doing the right thing given the situation.

You are dense to keep harping on earmarks when it has been explained by Paul why he does it multiple times on this board. STOP
