Economic Policy
Journal picking up the story of the Israeli giveaway, the Rand Paul apologists are performing amazing contortions; claiming it's disingenuous
to report
the fact that Paul supported $9+Billion loan guarantees to Israel, since
the legislation
was passed with a voice vote. "You don't even know if he was there!" "He could have said nay!" "Harry Reid is the only person who you can hear saying Yea in the video!" "Rand couldn't have stopped it anyway!" "You're engaged in libel! slander! defamation! against Randy!"

In reality, this is cut and dried.
James Madison had it right- "All men having power ought to be distrusted." Silence is consent, and Rand Paul didn't say one peep in opposition to extending these obscene loan guarantees to a foreign nation, as his father did.

Paul was indeed in the Senate on Friday June 29th,
a fact documented by the numerous recorded votes he participated in that day. A full list is
here. The specific votes were roll call votes

169 at 12:53pm,

170 at 1:22pm,

171 at 1:39pm, and 172 at 1:54pm.

Additionally, I called Rand Paul's Kentucky office on Friday July 13th regarding the matter. [article continues here: http://libertyfight.com/2012/rand_paul_remains_silent_on_9_b...

Oh Please...

You know how the game is played at this juncture in time. Rand is the best Senator we've got. He is playing the game to achieve certain aims. It is better to have him in there than not.

I so agree

Rand Paul would look pretty stupid demanding a vote on a bill that both he and the world know has zero chance of being defeated. The media would eat that up.

No Worries

It's just billions, not trillions.

Lew remains silent

on the letters he wrote and would rather Ron keep that smear on his legacy rather than ruin his own reputation

I'll bite

What do you find so offensive about the newsletters? You are trying to change the topic of this thread from Rand to them and I'm not seeing the connection.

Methinks it was

Murray Rothbard.

Why the downvotes? Link please.

I read this quote from a couple of sources.

"At that time a libertarian theorist, Murray Rothbard argued that libertarians ought to engage in "Outreach to the Rednecks" in order to insert their libertarian theories into the middle of the nation's political passions."

I am not dissing Rothbard, I love him. It makes sense that this was his idea and he is not here to defend himself or admit it so the case is closed.

Rand will NEVER get my vote for anything.

He's a neocon who turned on his own father. I wouldn't elect him to be dogcatcher.

I don't play, I commission the league.

It's looking

like he is a Neocon. If he sold his soul to the state of Israel (and our kids' lives and futures through inflation, taxation and a draft into Israeli engineered wars) for political position in the NWO, shame on him and the rest of the nest of traitors.

This is just the beginning. Rand is going to be full

of all sorts of surprises. Just sit back and watch the train wreck. Thanks Rand. So glad we helped get you elected.

For the record:

Passed Senate with an amendment by Voice Vote. [the word "unanimous" is missing. In other words, we'll never know.]

"All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing" Burke, Edmund

The mother of all sacred cows is Israel. Fighting this bill was beyond a loser from the word go, so let this one go, grasshopper. Rand knew it as well as everyone else, especially if a recorded ballot vote was requested. It would have been a 99-1 vote, and that one would have been labelled 'antisemitic.' Sad, but true. Like a firing squad and a voice vote, one on the squad is given a blank bullet and with a voice vote, some can say that they were against the yea majority.

voice votes are not reported

voice votes are not reported as numbered votes or unanimous. the fact that it was a unanimous vote came from the website of the bill's author.

And who cares if some statist might claim that a senator who doesnt want to squander 9billion is 'antisemitic"? rand has already said he wants to cut foreign aid. So any furthr insult that might be hurled at him is completely inconsequencial. Unless you want him to never oppose foreign aid out of fear of name-calling, that is not a valid arguement.

SteveMT's picture

Not the statist, but the MSM, AIPAC, and the ACLU.

These groups all combined against one lonely senator would not be very nice to witness. These groups destroy people.

Rand Paul did not "vote" for

Rand Paul did not "vote" for the bill, he abstained. Even if he did vote against the bill, it still would have passed 99-1. So that's good for an LR circle jerk, but not much else.

Thomas Jefferson 1796, 1800, 1804; James Madison 1808, 1812; Ron Paul 1988, 2008, 2012; Rand Paul 2016.

"Abstained?" That's worse...

"Abstained?" That's worse... He wasted his seat with abstaining. Who now owns this man?

Ron Paul has been abstaining

Ron Paul has been abstaining on votes all year. You have a double standard and it is getting old.

Thomas Jefferson 1796, 1800, 1804; James Madison 1808, 1812; Ron Paul 1988, 2008, 2012; Rand Paul 2016.

Your comment needs clarification...otherwise I'm not following your train of thought.

New stealth tactic!

I called both my Senators to find out about this. "Wha? Bill number? Repeat the title? Wha? The Senator has no comment on this...oh, he was a cosponsor? Well, er, I dunno. Hang on.....................Hello? Um.....Hang on...............Well, I do not have any reference to those peculiar names and numbers...er...that..er...you gave me. Bye now....[click. bzzzzz]"

Say it aint so...

I know Rand used to rail against foreign aid, but it wouldnt shock me if he was turned to AIPAC. In hindsight, Rand seemed to want to prove he could get elected on his own (without dad's help). He may have done that, but he instead joined forces with Karl Rove and Bill Krystol!

I dont give him any credit for the Egyptian foreign aid proposal. Thats just red meat BS, so the US government can get back its bin Laden tipster. As if OBL was still alive in 2011. What a joke, and Randy is getting in the politics of the bin Laden raid? All for the good PR of the Hannity audience

Will you stop the witch hunt already!

You're like a rabid puritan with circumstantial evidence on some poor woman, complete with torch in hand. Why do you want to burn Rand at the stake for....well.... ZERO evidence?

If endorsing Romney, while he is running for president against your own father..........ahhh never mind.....you just stay in your little fantasy land.... It's safe there for you.

Don't be ridiculous

I'll never vote for Romney. I'm voting Ron Paul an no one else. Rand made a promise to support the republican nom no matter who it turns out to be TWO YEARS AGO. He kept his promise but he has stated publicly that he is positive no Ron Paul votes are transferable to Romney.

Do I agree with him endorsing Romeny? NO but I aint gonna hang him for fulfilling a promise of words that won't transfer any real votes.

You are now saying that because he said he would support Romney after his father, that it is reason enough to distrust him in every aspect of his service to this country. You give him the scarlet letter of traitor and see evil in everything and believe every rumor and innuendo.

you give him no benefit of the doubt when he has the single best voting record for liberty in the entire senate and he has undoubtedly done more than you have ever done for liberty or ever will do in the future for liberty

So get off your high horse. And put down the pitchforks and torches. Rand is one of our own and we need him in this fight for liberty.

You are living in a fantasy land if you think we can win this by shooting our best representatives and promoting division in the liberty movement.

I don't know how anyone with half a brain could endorse anyone other than Ron Paul. To be his son, and endorse Romney while RP is still in it, just blows my mind. And you can somehow find a way to justify this? Do you really need a superhero to look up too? Maybe watch some old Superfriends reruns. This guy is a POS. And he voted for Monsanto with that GMO shit as well. This site was very good when RP was trying to win, but it's gotten beyond pathetic now.

Rand cheerleaders have lost all credibility.

All they can do now is throw tantrums when we question Rand's actions. He endorsed Romney over his father BEFORE he was the official nominee. That is unforgivable.

Rand already endorsed Ron

Rand already endorsed Ron Paul. Wake up.

Thomas Jefferson 1796, 1800, 1804; James Madison 1808, 1812; Ron Paul 1988, 2008, 2012; Rand Paul 2016.

So he's just like Romney. He

So he's just like Romney. He endorsed RP before he endorsed Mitt, unless RP gets back in, if Mitt...........save it buddy.. he's a POS

You need to think more and type less...

NOTE: I am not advocating violence in any way. The content of the post is for intellectual, theoretical, and philosophical discussion. FEDS, please don't come to my house.

I really think people should

I really think people should wait for some confirmation (besides an offhand "unanimous" comment by some scumbag senator) before attacking Rand. In a voicevote, the only way you could know (unless you were there and close to a particular person) how each individual voted is if that individual screamed their answer. I don't know about you, but I can't picture Ron Paul, if he were a senator, screaming "NOOOOOOOOOOO!" during a voice vote. If all the other 99 senators said "Yes", Rand's "No" would have pretty easily been drowned out. I'm not saying he voted either way. I'm just saying that since we don't know, attacking him for not screaming at the top of his lungs is kinda asinine
