Open Letter to Ron Paul, Re: National Delegate E-MailSubmitted by AD in NV on Sat, 07/14/2012 - 17:14
Dear Dr. Paul,
I am writing in response to the email sent out by your campaign to the national delegates and alternates.
I am a national delegate from Nevada.
I was sent to the Republican National Convention by the people of our state to vote for you, sir. I answer to those people who voted for me at our state convention. I don't answer to the Republican Party or to any political campaign. Just as you sir, stood firm and represented the people in your district for thirty years without once compromising your principles, so I intend to do my duty representing my state at the RNC, God-willing.
Your supporters have elected National Delegates from all over the country, and they are heading to Tampa to fight for you – because you have become the face of the movement for freedom and liberty in this country. As you have often said, the principles we are fighting for are greater than any one man. They are greater than any of us. So many have stood up for these principles; so many throughout history have made the ultimate sacrifice in this battle. In comparison, fighting for these great principles at a political convention does not seem like much to ask.
Your email says that you only have three hundred delegates going to the national convention. However, the question of how many delegates each candidate has can only be really answered at the Convention in Tampa. Until then, all numbers are speculation. In previous emails, your campaign has hinted at many more that three hundred. Again, no one will know the real delegate count until that roll call vote.
Yes, we are going to Tampa to do those things you mention in your email: there will be some of us on the platform committee... but we will be doing so much more than that. We will be giving our time, our money, and putting ourselves at risk for you and what you stand for, sir. We will fight on the credentials. We will fight on the platform. We will fight the battle for the hearts and minds of every delegate on that convention floor. We will do everything possible to get your name into nomination. We will do everything we can to vote for you, and we will fight to win the presidency for you. We were sent to do that duty. We will not compromise our principles for the party, for any campaign, for any price. We have your shining example of constant adherence to principles for over thirty years; to do any less would compromise our integrity and yours.
We know that you will not ask us to do what you never did. We know that you will not ask us to compromise our principles, or compromise in the great fight for Liberty. As you have done your duty, so now we must do ours.
National Delegate, Nevada
