Open Letter to Ron Paul, Re: National Delegate E-Mail

Dear Dr. Paul,

I am writing in response to the email sent out by your campaign to the national delegates and alternates.

I am a national delegate from Nevada.

I was sent to the Republican National Convention by the people of our state to vote for you, sir. I answer to those people who voted for me at our state convention. I don't answer to the Republican Party or to any political campaign. Just as you sir, stood firm and represented the people in your district for thirty years without once compromising your principles, so I intend to do my duty representing my state at the RNC, God-willing.

Your supporters have elected National Delegates from all over the country, and they are heading to Tampa to fight for you – because you have become the face of the movement for freedom and liberty in this country. As you have often said, the principles we are fighting for are greater than any one man. They are greater than any of us. So many have stood up for these principles; so many throughout history have made the ultimate sacrifice in this battle. In comparison, fighting for these great principles at a political convention does not seem like much to ask.

Your email says that you only have three hundred delegates going to the national convention. However, the question of how many delegates each candidate has can only be really answered at the Convention in Tampa. Until then, all numbers are speculation. In previous emails, your campaign has hinted at many more that three hundred. Again, no one will know the real delegate count until that roll call vote.

Yes, we are going to Tampa to do those things you mention in your email: there will be some of us on the platform committee... but we will be doing so much more than that. We will be giving our time, our money, and putting ourselves at risk for you and what you stand for, sir. We will fight on the credentials. We will fight on the platform. We will fight the battle for the hearts and minds of every delegate on that convention floor. We will do everything possible to get your name into nomination. We will do everything we can to vote for you, and we will fight to win the presidency for you. We were sent to do that duty. We will not compromise our principles for the party, for any campaign, for any price. We have your shining example of constant adherence to principles for over thirty years; to do any less would compromise our integrity and yours.

We know that you will not ask us to do what you never did. We know that you will not ask us to compromise our principles, or compromise in the great fight for Liberty. As you have done your duty, so now we must do ours.

For Liberty,

Wayne Terhune
National Delegate, Nevada

AD in NV, well here we go, hang on!!

I just saw this, better late than never. We will be praying for all delegates to Tampa and we will be on the right side.

Bravo Wayne. What else do we have left anyway?

Hopefully you delegates can raise holy hell in Tampa and represent us well.

There's no point in going quietly anymore.

We went quietly in Washington State and where did that get us?

Might as well finish with a bang because if Romney wins the nominatin, it's over.

O-V-E-R.

ALL the hard work Dr. Paul did and inroads he made will have been successfuly marginalized and dismissed by the RNC, GOP and "conservative" media (Medved, Beck, Limbaugh, Hannity, O'Reilly, Levin, Gibson, Ingraham etc).

They are all rotted, corrupt, ignorant rat bastards.

Thanks

You put a smile on my face. I hope all the freedom loving delegates leave the convention with smiles on their faces after voting for Ron Paul. Life is all about smiles and cries. You have to control both of them to survive in this world.

Never In It To Win...

Ask yourself why there is still $3 million in our donation money sitting there.

Ask yourself why we never even issued a challenge for a single debate to Romney after there were just the two candidates.

Ask yourself why we never ran ONE SINGLE really hard-hitting attack ad on this dude and his dozens of serious Constitutional violations, personal evil deeds, etc.

Ask yourself why we will now have only four states in our win column.

Ask yourself why we bailed at PRECISELY THE HIGH WATER MARK (with the wins that were snatched back from us) on May 14th two days after the state conventions in AZ and OK.

Ask yourself why Trygve Olson is still taking YOUR MONEY.

You read my heart Wayne

What a perfect message from all of our hearts Wayne. Tears in my eyes and my thanks to you sir. In it to win it for the RIGHT reason, for our grand children and country.

Brokered convention coming right up with a prayer and that needed miracle.

I'll be

there right by your side (well at least in the CO section!) Thanks for writing this, very inspiring. Well keep up the fight for Liberty - unfortunately we've lost some of our Liberty (for supposed "safety") - we have a long way to go to wake up the masses. Keep up the good work Wayne, and If we cross paths in Tampa, I'll buy you a beverage of your choice!

Your letter made me feel

proud that I finally woke up and know the truth of what we're about.
Principles! We will not faulter!
Thank you, Wayne, for writing this beautiful and encouraging letter.
Dr Paul, I hope you've read it, too!

That letter brought tears to my eyes!

Thank you!

When we leave Tampa - what take home do we want?

As a delegate from PA I want to be leaving TAMPA with a smile on my face. How can that happen?

No matter who wins the nomination,
We get platform changes that we want. To wit:: internet freedom plank, Audit the Fed plank, a plank opposing the indefinite detention of American citizens – and perhaps even opposing the so-called “PATRIOT” Act and undeclared war.

How will that happen? If we wait till the convention and start to raise a stink -- a stink is all we will get.
NOW and over the next few weeks we must be peppering our county and state party leadership for these platform changes. The mechanics of the platform changes is each state has two members sent to the national platform committee and a week BEFORE the national convention they hammer out any amendments -- so our work must be done BEFORE that meeting.

Every county, every state trickle up the same platform request will make for a way better chance of getting what we want rather then acting like a copy of the ocutards ranting and raving for free crap outside the convention.
We have a lot of political capital - I suggest we use it wisely, and use it NOW.

If your any example of the

If your any example of the mindset of delegates going to the convention then your all wasting the liberty movements time.

Platforms will satisfy you. Platforms don't mean SH.... THEY MEAN NOTHING. NOTHING. You will be leaving Tampa smiling about NOTHING.

You'll probably end up losing votes for Ron Paul from Rick and Newt delegates because you fought with them for these WORTHLESS platforms. That's the only thing which will come from trying to secure these WORTHLESS platforms.

You became a delegate to get platforms which are going to be ignored. Like Audit the Fed, here's a friggin clue for you, the opposition has no intentions of keeping the Fed around, they want to get rid of it to replace it with a global currency, all your PLATFORM will do is help them in their endeavor. Big whip dee friggin do. You all might as well just stay at home if going to waste everyone's time fighting useless worthless carp like this.

When Rubio and Romney start selling you their empty liberty and constitutional rhetoric are you going to applaud that nonsense as well. Maybe you'll even vote and campaign for Romney if he does. Are you going to wear a kick me sign on your back when you find out Romney ignored your worthless platforms after he's elected President like the Obama supporters should be doing after they believed all the worthless campaign promises he gave his supporters.

I'll be happy with platforms. This to me translates to I'll be happy settling for nothing. While the country get's screwed because of decisions like this. Why am I even wasting my time trying to get Ron Paul elected when so many of his supporters are so gullible. I try to enlighten them, educate them, and they ignore it. Yet they take anything the Paul campaign says as gospel even though the advice was given to make sure Ron Paul loses.

Thank you Wayne!

For beautifully and eloquently stating the truth. Thank you for your courage and determination. I pray Dr. Paul reads your letter and fully recognizes that he no longer is standing alone in his fight for freedom. There are many of us now who are willing to stand there right beside him and we're not going anywhere. God Bless.

Great letter!

I feel you 100%.

Ron Paul.. If you read this, now is time to show your LEADERSHIP!

AWESOME LETTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the best post I have seen on this forum all year!

Wayne, you summed up the situation and the sentiment of TRUE Ron Paul supporters beautifully!

Thank you!

Excellent resolution

Good point. If Ron Paul could never endorse Romney how can any of his delegates support Romney bound or not...If they refuse us the credentials to participate... so be it. You are not alone.

My Sentiments Exactly, Wayne!

I will be there with you Wayne and I wholeheartedly agree with you. As far as I'm concerned, the jackass infiltrators in RPs campaign need to stop sending that crap out, and attempting to coerce us into kowtowing to The PTB. I was elected to vote for RP & I worked damn hard to get where I am. I will never vote for anyone other than RP! And I'm glad someone FINALLY pointed out the fact that we are getting contradictory messages from the campaign. When we started this battle we pledged that we would never give up and never surrender. And it is not over until the convention in Tampa. Why are we being subversively directed to betray our original principles? I will never do this. Benton can go screw himself.

Never surrender! Ron Paul or none at all!

This is awesome Wayne. It's

This is awesome Wayne. It's everything that I would say and think if I were a National Delegate. Kudos Good Sir!!

Well said!

Thanks.

gotta love a principled American

and love America too -We stickin' together for liberty

Government is supposed to protect our freedom, our property, our privacy, not invade it. Ron Paul 2007

Credentialed.

Many are called, few are chosen. Collecting signatures qualifies one as a delegate, just as it qualifies a candidate, but one still needs to be vetted by the Party's central committee to be credentialed.

Ron Paul's principles include, The Golden Rule. So, what if YOU were the central committee chair. YOU, a LIBERTY chair. An election comes up, and qualified people show up to be delegates. Many, if not most, are NOT Liberty delegates, matter of fact, they hate your party, and have NOTHING good to say about YOU. It's your job to vet these people. What would you do? What would your golden rule of princples do if qualified people, who hated your party, hated you, and hated Liberty, demanded to be delegates? What if they threatened you to a federal lawsuit? What if they threatened you to be surrounded by federal marshalled who would serve them coffee? How would you feel? Pray, do tell.

We learn from Ron Paul, that it is not the flash in the pan, but the long, hard road, where respect, integrity, honesty, and fighting a good fight, are many times a losing position. Our losses are taken with acceptance, and one continues to move ahead, respectfully, and properly, to the next opportunity to advance in the good, long, hard fight for liberty.

You see, it's really not about Ron Paul. It's about Ron Paul's message. Ron Paul Republicans, are his heirs. We are putting REPUBLIC back in the language of OUR party with meaning. They have lost their way, and we are leading them back, by taking committee seats as qualified and elected members, and showing up to vote NO to taxes, NO to bailouts, NO to war, NO to a police state, NO to UN, No to federal judges dictating over Americans following state laws, No to the elimination of our religions, NO to our loss of Freedom, NO to the loss of our liberty, NO to the loss of our constitution.

Many of us will not be at the convention because Romney won fair and square. As great as it would be to have Ron Paul as president, what is better, is to have a Ron Paul GOP.

If I was a committee chair, and NON Liberty, qualified delegates showed up demanding seats, who hated me, and MY Party, I don't believe I would be vetting them, not when I could put Liberty voters to the convention.

Congratulations on your trip to Tampa as a national delegate. I hope you are not at risk, and I also hope you are not surrounded by federal marshalls, serving you coffee, from a federal judge dictating that your state laws are bunk.

God help you.

Re: Credentialed

You are correct we have gone far already - but we have farther to go.
The short term - we go for platform changes -- and that push must be happening NOW.

Now, every Paul fan, every freedom lover should be sending to their respective county and state republican committees the want for some platform changes: How about fighting for an internet freedom plank, annual Audit the Fed plank, and a plank opposing the indefinite detention of American citizens – and perhaps even a plank opposing the so-called “PATRIOT” Act and undeclared war .

state platform committees are meeting very soon drafting what they are taking to national, National platform committee meeting will happen a week BEFORE the national convention -- our planks have to be in their hands before then. so get off your asses and tell your county and state committees what you want in the platform -- if we are singing the same message and across the counties and from every state in the nation it will be a chorus that will be known, understood and adopted.

The short of it is they need us, we don't need them. It is time we use that leverage or lose it. Time is short get busy

A just government respects the rights of all people equally and grants special favor to none.

Granger you raise some good point ,but ......

We are dealing with people who do not find it difficult to shed innocent blood....That is the HUGE gap between the camps...If Romney won FAIR AND SQUARE your post would not be so difficult to swallow. Maybe you should go read all the testimonies of all the delegates who have been effected by this so called fair and square process of yours. Put yourself in the shoes of those delegates who had the guts to try and do something about it, and you think we were treated fair and square????? Then you may look back and see we are dealing with THUGS, and it is hard to be polite and call them honorable thugs. This election cycle has been about as fair and square as Romney not having anything to do with Bain Capital after 1999. You are not from my planet.

Can we stop with name calling?

The problem as I see it, is way too many of us were given HALF the information they actually needed to become a vetted / credentialed delegate. They did HALF the work, and expected 100% of the prize, while the GOP and Romney camp, who were given ALL the information, sometimes broke laws, that should be taken to county, state and personal injury courts.

In CA, Romney did win fair and square. I watched the polls in my district. I hand counted. I was on the phone and email with my county clerk's registrar, and demanded and received the breakdowns, and they matched. I am proud that my county placed third in the state of CA in RP votes, as I had no headquarters, no meet up, no official help from the national campaign, but I did have support from the CA campaign, and I needed it. My district topped Southern CA, that they thought would do better. So I know I worked hard and it paid off, but not good enough.

I have NOT lost my apathy. I am sorry that people were given HALF the information they needed to win. I don't know why, or what the misunderstand was, if that was the case.

But now, since I am not going to Tampa, I am redirecting my focus on GOP committees and working on getting RP Liberty minded people to fill those seats.

As for Romney, my own committee had not one person rooting for Romney from the beginning. Like me, we all have our dissappointments with the ultimate selection of Romney. As far as I'm concerned, the ONLY good thing about Romney is that he has RP Republicans in offices and on committees who will work with him to restore our bill of rights.

Look at today's headlines.. GOP Governors demand Romney show his tax records. They didn't just pull that out of a hat. That comes from Neocon committee memebers who want Obama.

Had we taken seats, we could vote them out. Why aren't we doing this? Because we have a lot of fans, but not enough people that have the drive as a the neocons. The Neocons, I have to give credit, as they actually cared enough about their issues to take seats and FIGHT for what they believe, and while we don't agree, too many if us are cheerleaders and not players FIGHTING for liberty in those seats.

Please, see if you can take a seat, you might find a RP Republican all alone waiting for you to show up and be counted. It's not over.

It's just turning for those who are committed on committees, as the rest run to GJ, or Obama, or nothing.

Actually, Wayne Terhune's

Actually, Wayne Terhune's email wasn't about the lawsuit at all. It's about doing the job he was sent to do as a delegate from Nevada to the Republican National Convention.

Your theoretical situation has nothing to do with the national convention.

The delegates to Tampa have a job to do, and I'm confident they will do so without compromising the principles of Liberty they were elected to represent.

What does this mean?

"and putting ourselves at risk for you and what you stand for, sir. We will fight on the credentials."

Well said, Wayne!!!

I'm proud to say that you are our Nevada delegation chairman, particularly when I remember how many of our own "supporters" worked against that happening.

So I take it you wont be voting for Gary Johnson :)

Thanks for your dedication. Its nice to see that RP passion and resolve isn't dead around here.

Whats wrong with voting for

Whats wrong with voting for Johnson? Ron Paul is not the only messenger of liberty. I sure as hell want a libertarian in the debate between Obama and Romney.

what's wrong w voting for Bob Barr?

Stop affixing the Libertarian label to non liberty candidates in the hopes of confusing there stance on liberty issues.
