Nebraska Convention Delegates biggest concern.Submitted by Rexorooter on Sat, 07/14/2012 - 23:54
As a county delegate to the convention I respected and demanded that the rules were followed. The rules were followed as enumerated in the "2012 State Convention Proposed Rules." We guarded the ballot boxes, we observed the count, we used machines that have provided fair counts in the past and do not justify the ultra paranoid software hackers theory. Trust me I have been an IT professional for over 32 years. These contraptions only see blacked vs un-blacked ovals on the ballot. No secret software was injected into the equation. Nebraska used simple readers and were visually supervised.
The simple fact of the vote was that we did not have the delegates in place. This has been stated in many posts. It was going to take an exceptional coincidence of things to occur for Nebraska Liberty minded folks to win.
However, nowhere in the rules numbered 1 through 14 were there any ballot construction guidelines.
The ballot in my opinion was slanted dramatically. At the top of the ballot was a framed box that stated "it" (the nominees in this area) was the Romeny slate. This framed box contained the names of those fully vetted to support "the agenda" of Mitt Romney.
Below this, was a random listing of the others wishing to seek the support of the voter.
I would not scoff at this under normal circumstances, but sitting behind me two rows was an older gentleman of about 75-80 years of age and overheard the assistant to the Sergeant of Arms instructing him concerning his ballot.
He explicitly said to this older gentleman that "if you support Mitt Romney you need only to vote for the candidates in the top box, the rest are other supporters" This occurred during the "National Convention Delegates by Congressional District" election.
For me this is unacceptable. What should I have done at this point?
