From London to Tampa (calling international supporters)Submitted by drdids on Sun, 07/15/2012 - 20:20
So here's my story.
In 2007 I was introduced to the documentary America Freedom to Fascism featuring the interview with Congressman Ron Paul. At the time I knew about the federal reserve and elements of the liberty movement but my first real introduction to Dr.Paul, his history, books and background was here. I was impressed, but like everyone else it was when the republican debates started that I was taken back. Call it a political love story. From young I was always political and loved history, going through the usual opinionated phases (left, right, blah) until I started grasping the concept of Liberty. It was at the debates however that my sense of apathy of both the political process and paradigm shifted into one of hope and sense of knowing; and by knowing I mean moving into the Libertarian mindset resulting in a truer understanding of history, economics and never going back to political falsehood.
So from there I followed the movement and all the events leading up to this election - not just of Ron Paul but the news in general, seeing everything through the eyes of a Libertarian and Austrian. When he announced his bid to run in 2011, I knew it was going to be a roller-coaster ride and history in the making. I stayed up late (usually 2-3am in the UK) to watch the debates live on-line. I read all the analysis, posted all over Facebook and hyped it like a madman to everyone around me (and still do, now they are listening). This is it I said, but they couldn't tune in because all BBC reported about was everyone BUT Dr Paul. Even family in America were clueless (now they are delegates, call it good salesmanship).
Watching all those candidates boil down to just Paul and Romney has been intense and exciting. In February this year I came to the states for a half holiday/half campaigning (yes, that enthusiastic and we won the state..). I met great people, made friends and saw first hand that the Paul movement was very alive - revolutionary, peaceful and like minded in every sense. Now, we are at the tipping point. They said we couldn't make it here, but we have. Now Tampa is where we can show our numbers to the world and party like hell while we do it, because we are FREE and WINNING! If not now, our future generations. This movement is not going anywhere. I booked my tickets and will be going to the PaulFest, but I made this topic to call out to all the other international supporters that have been inspired by this movement - COME TO TAMPA!! Lets show the media and the world that this is a global movement. Why are you staying at home, working, going holiday elsewhere when THIS IS IT! History is in the making! And to the American supporters, why aren't you coming? If i can make it across the Atlantic then for DAMN sure I KNOW YOU CAN!
Let freedom ring in Tampa this August. Come for Dr.Paul, for Liberty, for yourself and for our future generations. Oh and if I see you, lets crack a beer together!
Thanks for reading :)
