Why did Dr. Paul stop actively campaigning?

Let me start off by saying that since discovering Dr. Paul in 2007, my life, outlook, work-ethic, political views, and pretty much every part of my being has been profoundly changed.

Most of my friends think I have an unhealthy obsession with Dr. Paul, but that doesn't stop me from discussing the liberty point of view at every possible chance.

I saw Dr. Paul speak at UCLA this year and was truly moved to see the reception his/our ideas received from the young people there.

My question is, why did he stop? With 3 million in the bank, drawing 10,000 supporters at every college campus he visited on literally 1 or 2 days notice, why did he stop doing what he had been doing for 30 years? I didn't understand it then, and I don't understand it now.

Please know that this is not a critique of Dr. Paul in the least, as he is the only person I would ever say I "admired" in my entire life. I would just like to hear the insight of the community here.
Thanks.

Integrity means having to say things that people don't want to hear & especially to say things that the regime doesnt want to hear -RonPaul

He never quit

He ended up focusing on the very things that he said he would do, and that was the delegate strategy at the conventions. He ended up speaking at the Nevada convention, Minnesota and Texas, all of which were crucial game changers. He also did a fund raising breakfast in Minnesota, which paid off a lot of the debt that the party had incurred.Nevada could've done that, but the establishment decided to use the opportunity to blast the newcomers and blame them for the bills not being paid.

He's going to Tampa and leading his delegates into the convention, where he WILL be nominated to be the GOP presidential candidate. Don't know after that, but THAT is all that matters.

Romney had him beat on funds 20 to 1, which made it hard to combat the media darling in the press. It doesn't mean that he won't have support.

The rally will probably cost a million and atty fees if he

supports delegates at RNC could take the rest -- what is left over will probably support liberty candidates or C4L I would guess.

But I think one reason is right about then there was this huge media push about how he wasn't making his votes, and Ron prides himself on making his votes. I bet it figured into it.

W/R/T huge campus rallies

I hope he continues to tour campuses and drawing 10,000 people per visit for another decade or so.

Currently consuming: Harry Browne, Free Domain Radio; JT Gatto and Holt; Wii U

me too, and really takes over C4L

so it speaks with his voice.

I don't know why he quit. I wonder why myself.

He had plenty of money left in his campaign fund I believe so it wasn't about that.

I know he explained that he figured he couldn't get the delegates needed to win and was up against Romney's money-machine.

Maybe he just got tired of working so hard and yet being ignored by the media and the RNC/GOP.

Or possibly there's something else going on which we won't ever know ie: threats from within the party.

Or maybe it's about backing off to protect Rand's political future within the GOP.

In any case it was sad and disappointing to me after I sent money to the campaign numerous times, and worked my way up to become a delegate at the state convention for him.

So I have no explanation.

"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."
-Ron Paul

see you in tampa!

He did a awsome job when i saw hi all through out texas.ron paul 2012&byond.

I just don't know...but I can't wait to find out!

I tend to think that President Paul knows how pervasive corruption in the system has become and as we all have learned the number of votes cast for President Paul rarely equals the number of votes that are awarded to him.

I think to break open the system and expose the corruption will take a HUGE crowd in Tampa AND lots and lots of votes. Another thing I always wonder is if President Paul really would want to take over control of the titanic 2 feet before it hits the iceberg. I think he would if enough people woke up and understood that because of the Federal Reserve and all the money we have spend policing the world...we are in for a rough 2 - 3 years under the best of circumstances. Of course that is FAR better than muddling through for the next 20 or 30 years but there is no magic bullet to fix all the crap that President Paul would be faced with when he settled into the white house.

IMHO there is also almost certainly a shadow government (or whateveer you want to call it)...a group of international elite that control most of the worlds money and resourses. That could be another deterent. Maybe Dr Paul is hoping we can educate enough people so that we can elect him as President of America and not President of the Corporation of the United States?

I know one thing, confidence in America and confidence in our political and economic system is rapidly deteriorating. My next President will be President Paul or I will not have one. I've lost all faith in the current system and I will not recognise another puppet. It's President Paul or Anarchy for me. I'd be more than happy with a Stateless society but I'd rather try to move in that direction gradually via a President Paul Administration.

Hope to meet some of you DP'ers in Tampa. I'll be the guy with the Ron Paul T-Shirt on...how will you miss me? LOL

Ron Paul did not stop.

Ron Paul expects US to fight for Liberty and this movement. You can't sit back and rely on others to fight for you. It takes me, it takes you, it takes each and every one of us.

Ron Paul did not stop. Many on this forum have. They run with their tail between their legs. I, however, have not. I have only just begun. If you want to realize success, especially at Tampa, then I strongly suggest that you do the following:

http://www.dailypaul.com/242346/we-cant-be-the-ones-to-give-...

The work has been done for you. It is simple, quick and cheaper than a money bomb. If one person from each state does this, we will see results that count in Tampa.

When will this post go away?

Just wondering why such an asinine question with such suspect timing has persisted the entire day at the top. Weird.

Maybe you should read up on

Maybe you should read up on free markets.

free markets?

That doesn't explain why such a poorly performing and silly post was allowed to persist for so long at the top of the DP. In case you were unaware the mods here are responsible fo pulling posts from the top.

You are right, it's better

You are right, it's better for a central authority to rule over the masses and make decisions for them- especially when it contradicts to desires of the people (upvotes in this case).

dishonest tactics

It seems you are intentionally confusing the issues. Your post benefited from said "central authority" as it was allowed to hang around. Had its longevity been based solely on its own merit it would never have lasted as long. I suspect you know this.

I was under the impression

I was under the impression that it stayed in the "Top Recent Topics" as a result of the upvotes. I'm not sure what a "central authority" has to do with the amount of upvotes considering each member can only vote once.

Don't be so obtuse

STOP being silly, clearly each member is only allowed one vote. You have been an active member for well over a year so you understand that 30 votes over the course of a week hardly make your post a hit.

Have a wonderful weekend :)

"Why did Dr. Paul stop actively campaigning?"

Why spend money attacking a candidate when you can let the Democrats do it for you?

Did we ever expect Dr.Paul to blow all the money like other candidates have?

Can it work to our advantage letting the competition think they have this in the bag?

Did Ron Paul supporters show respect for his campaign and the decisions being made?

rp supporters like you love all the crony estab that run the

campaign. they not only respect the campaign and all its sabotaging that it did, but they love it and can't get enough of it.

why spend several tens of millions of dollars attacking only romney's cons rivals only when they put the heat on romney and even defend romney numerous times. why put down a 30 year career in gov't and say 30 year bus exp of Romney is better?

paul never campaigned agressively and consistently. his dnc/gop stab would have no part in spreading paul's ideas and wanted to limit his exposure and are behind media blackouts.

jj

Obama attacking Romney will

Obama attacking Romney will only drive neo-cons to Romney. You really think a neo-con is going to see an Obama attack ad on Romney and think to himself, "hey, that obama guy has a point."

obama will win regardless, so why pretend otherwise.

this is not but a fake boxing match. obama and romney are pals and partners in crime. and remember ron paul is very loyal pal to romney and would never do anything that hurts romney and his crony friends. hence, he only wants to do an audit that will never pass congress and has not worked to end the fed. or rather not paul, but the crony staff that rp supporters love giving themselves to.

obama attacking romney and vice versa is nothing. it is meaningless, noone will be swayed by either. everyone, especially rp supporters will vote along party lines. many rp supporters will vote for romney by writing in ron paul in order to hamper liberty.

some smart rp supporters will vote for gary johnson to support liberty and ron paul's crony dnc/gop staff.

Important Factor:

Who else can I vote for factor.

If they attack each other enough, people might get so sick of them that they will think:

Who else can I vote for?

Then we will see Ron Paul using those 3 million in the end to win it in style.

ron paul didn't stop

ron paul didn't stop campaigning.. he just waits...

I really don't know the

I really don't know the answer to that. I do trust Ron Paul. I trust his judgements, and if he thought it best to stop campaigning for the time being, then there was and is good reason for it.
Even though he stopped campaigning, he always had and has us. We never stopped campaigning for him and maybe he thought the seeds he planted needed to be watered and nurtured by us, his supporters.
A wise man once told me: "Believe nothing that you hear and only half of of what you see." More simply, "Things aren't always what they appear."
I believe that Ron Paul is in much better position than what is commonly perceived. The fruits of his and our labors are about to start comming in.

Keep the faith.

You're "obsessed"? Join the club.

I was bothered by the same question in the spring of 2008. But what bothered me even more was why he didn't concentrate all of his remaining time and money in trying to win a primary in some state like Nebraska. (As bad as this year has been for MSM coverage, it was even worse in 2008. They were claiming that McCain was running "unopposed" almost from Super Tuesday on.)

"With 3 million in the bank,..."
Romney still has 10 (20?) times that even after pouring money into the big primary states.

"drawing 10,000 supporters at every college campus he visited on literally 1 or 2 days notice..."
And since the MSM ignored the rallies, WE were the only ones who knew about it.

"why did he stop doing what he had been doing for 30 years?"
He didn't. He has always been promoting liberty in what he feels is the most effective manner.

Bottom line: Its all about picking your battles and expending resources when and where they will do the most good.

Three million dollars is a lot of money, but not for a presidential campaign. He could blow through that in a few days and still not win a primary state. Dr. Paul knows that.

If Ron Paul had spent every penny in 2008 instead of saving some to get the Campaign For Liberty off the ground, we would not have had the successes we have had since then.

Jack Hunter is right, has always been right, about the significance of Ron Paul's presidential campaign. And the people who have trashed him have been working to stop and undo the work that Ron Paul has been doing "for 30 years".

Ron Paul wanted to win, could have won the nomination, if only he had been given even a tenth of the unbiased news coverage he deserved.

It didn't happen.

Instead, we will go to Tampa and nominate him anyway and do the best we can to spread his message and win the heart and soul of the Republican Party.

I think that is quite a consolation prize.

HE STOPPED FOR THE SAME REASON

He stopped in 08. All talk and no guts. In it to win it my butt.his supporters worked they're butts off getting him delegates.they endured being cheated, broken bones etc, while the Ron Paul campaign did nothing to fight the fraud.he won't even support the lawsuit.that's why he quit.

Some see things as they are and say why,but i dream things that never were and say why not. Robert F. Kennedy

you write truth about the campaign and its refusal to fight

but only collection donations and line someonelse's pockets with it.

campaign refused to fight fraud, hence rp supporters give dnc/gop money to not allow paul to progress.

he stopped because....

His supporters did not give enough....PERIOD.

Consider this, if just his facebook fans gave 10 fed notes per month, from the time he announced that he was running, he would have over 80 million by now....

It's not on him, it's on us.

How much did you give?

"No army can stop an idea whose time has come"

i gave probably over 500

i gave probably over 500 dollars over the last year on a meager income including some of which was from my unemployment checks because i knew it's the best use of what little money i have. what about you? other than whining? go somewhere else and be a negative nancy
