How would this scheme effect local food economies?

Hello DP community. I'm currently working on a story that highlights food-producer reaction to a recent poll that says a majority of Americans are calling for a nationwide campaign to double the value of food-stamps at farmers markets. Please refer to the poll at: http://www.wkkf.org/news/Articles/2012/05/Americans-overwhel...

and give me your reaction as a local food producer. Even if you've never been involved in direct to consumer marketing of food, I would value your input.

Good idea

I love going to the farmer's markets, but they are so expensive. Last week a dozen eggs cost 5.00. I don't care what anyone says, but it does cost more to eat healthy. People who are on food stamps have to really stretch their dollars and end up buying Ramen noodles, tortillas, beans and rice. Fresh produce costs much more than a canned vegetable loaded with sodium.
