Bain is an archetype of fear. Its an image we see over and over, from Aliens to Hannibal lector. The image is a split archetype consisting of two parts. The first part is attack by an arachnid spider. We have a genetic memory to be afraid of spiders so this response to it is very strong. The second part of the archetype has to do with suffocation or inability to eat or breathe. So this is a spider attack that suffocates us, removes our ability to live. When we see Bain our instinct is to HELP him to remove the spider from his mouth. The fact that we cannot creates tension. And this tension drives the tension in the film.
In fact there is a real spider on our mouth, sucking away our livelyhood. It is the Federal Reserve System and The IRS Income tax. The federal reserve system allows the government to not balance its books. When it runs out of tax money it simply prints more… and that hits us every year like a 15% additional tax since our salaries do not keep up with inflation. So the 60% nominal tax gets another 15% hidden tax added bringing it up to 75% tax. An additional 7% state sales tax raises it further still to 82%. Another 5% of income goes to property taxes. We are now at 87% taxation. Is it any wonder the american middle class has been reduced in number to merely 10%?
Still they hire more cops at huge salaries and pensions. More teachers for illegal alien children. More costly foreign wars. Americans battered and bruised vote with their feet and eventually even the beautiful california cities find they cannot get taxes from empty foreclosed homes. And we see the first bankruptcies.
