Libertarians Running Hard in North Carolina

Thank you for posting the Gary Johnson video. Gary ran a 5K race yesterday with Barbara Howe, the Libertarian candidate for Governor of North Carolina. Before that Gary spoke at a rally of conservatives opposed to undeclared un-Constitutional wars.
Barbara Howe has set a goal of running a 5K race in every one of North Carolina's 100 counties during her campaign. She has run for Governor twice before so is building name recognition. In the latest state-wide poll she has the support of 9% and growing. Here is her website: http://www.barbarahowe.net

BTW, LL, I do agree with Anna

BTW, LL, I do agree with Anna to the extent that posting entire threads every day is probably long past redundant. I think people more or less know Gary, the question is dealing with any misconceptions that people have. So I would suggest maybe backing off a bit unless it's really important news, like he hits 10% in the polls or the support of the Kochs or something really huge.

I think there's a difference between discussing things and throwing it in people's faces. Commenting and discussing is less abrasive than wholesale advertisement.

Yes, I wish people were made

Yes, I wish people were made of sterner stuff. But they're not. So a bit of delicacy is required.

I post quality material every day

I try to cover both RP and GJ campaigns evenly.
Look into my past 50 postings - percenatege wise GJ posts are very small in number.

Anyways I'm getting sick and tired of several people trying to limit my work here.
I was born and raised in Communist Poland and I ABHORE censorship of any kind.
When there is GJ in the headline -- just don't read/watch it and move onto hundreds of non-GJ postings.

Very responsible

Very responsible and considerate of you to post this in a proper forum that is respectful of the Ron Paul 2012 campaign forum.

+1 for exercising some responsibility and respect LL. Now if I can only convince others to exercise more tolerance there may be a chance of keeping this movement peacefully united through August for Ron Paul.

Freedom of speech means freedom from interference, suppression or punitive action by the government—and nothing else. It does not mean the right to demand the financial support or the material means to express your views at the expense of other men who may not wish to support you. Freedom of speech includes the freedom not to agree, not to listen and not to support one’s own antagonists. A “right” does not include the material implementation of that right by other men; it includes only the freedom to earn that implementation by one’s own effort. Private citizens cannot use physical force or coercion; they cannot censor or suppress anyone’s views or publications. Only the government can do so. And censorship is a concept that pertains only to governmental action.

The liberty movement would be

The liberty movement would be stronger if people were less sensitive.

I agree

why are you so sensitive?

I can change the channel when

I can change the channel when something annoys me. So I am both sensitive and disciplined.

I know. Don't worry about

I know. Don't worry about it, just a suggestion. People are just really sensitive. Unduly so.

People aren't ready to make it about the movement, they still cling to making it about the man.

Baby steps.

legalizeliberty!

PLEASE stop posting GJ threads on the DP! It is distracting to us Paulites (at least for me, I am sure it is for some others as well), and insulting to Dr. Paul while he is still running for President!

Ron Paul 2012 forum

It's not posted on the Ron Paul 2012 forum, it's posted in the Politics and Law forum. I understand it would be insulting to some, and agree it would be disrespectful of legalizeliberty to post GJ2012 stuff in the RP2012 forum. But in the Politics and Law forum his post is proper topic relevant to this forum. There are a dozen other forums on this site to choose from if you find the topics on this forum distracting.

But Anna, don't let it

But Anna, don't let it distract you, just skip ahead.

And you should realize by now that Ron Paul isn't still running, he quit several months ago. He has simply not officially dropped out because it allows him to continue raising money. What he will do with that money remains to be seen, but there are rumors of some new internet project, so I hope he does something positive, rather than just enrich his grandson in law.

This goal is not to win, but to gain influence for the Republican platform. Go for the nomination, it certainly can't hurt, but don't look at him not winning the nomination as a loss. It isn't. Don't hang all your hopes on winning the nomination, look at gaining influence and making some noise for the movement.

Why are you even on this website?

Seriously? You yourself stated that you are not and never have been a Paul supporter.

Ron Paul IS still running.

Actually, I have pledged to

Actually, I have pledged to everyone here that I will vote for Ron Paul if he were to win the nomination, for a variety of logical reasons.

That being said, I'm not going to make this all or nothing. I'm comfortable with my back up plan.

Ron Paul is technically still up for nomination, but he is not running. He stopped his campaign months ago. So it is up to you to get him nominated without his help. i understand that this can be very stressful, you've put a lot of hope and work into it, so I am simply saying that looking at the big picture and looking at other ways of still winning in the end will help you deal with what is very likely to occur in Tampa.

Anna

GJ does not compete with Dr. Paul for the GOP nomination ticket.
If RP is nominated he will pull out of the race - that's what he said.

There are many libertarians here who are greatful for my work providing them with GJ campaign info.

There are maybe three people

There are maybe three people here who are grateful for this info, the rest of us just wish you'd give it a rest. Why do you think we continually vote down the GJ posts? Duh.

Even M. Nystrom basically said to take it elsewhere:

But don't you think a libertarian would simply skip over the thread without pause?

I only click on threads that interest me.

I say that LL should back down, but only because a lot of people here really don't have the stomach for liberty and only pretend to be for it on the internet.

But he has also said that

But he has also said that getting him to 15% by raising awareness so he can be in the debates is important for the movement.

They are both running for President, though

If there are libertarians here who want info about the Johnson campaign, they can visit another website. This is the Daily PAUL.

Well, look, Michael could

Well, look, Michael could certainly ban any subject about Gary Johnson.

But are you really that fragile that you can't pass over that which bothers you?

Liberty requires a bit more fortitude. If this bothers you, you really don't have the stomach for freedom.

Big government has always come about from "this annoys me, make it stop".

If you want to TRULY be a liberty person, part of it is understanding that freedom is in our hands, that we need to change our attitudes and embrace difference and individuality.

You are demanding conformity and banality, do you realize that?

Owner of the Daily Paul is clear about this

"Considering Ron Paul's latest email, from a purely tactical standpoint, Gary Johnson deserves our support to reach that magic 15% threshold that would get him into the debates between Romney and Obama" - Michael Nystrom, Daily Paul

Regardless,

it is still an annoyance to the majority of DPers (judging by the number of downvotes pro-Gary Johnson posts usually get) and is, in my personal opinion, inconsiderate to Ron Paul to promote a candidate running against him when he is still in the race on a website dedicated to him.

Although I would never support Johnson, I could understand posts about him here if Dr. Paul does not get the nomination. But at the moment he is still in the race.

Keep in mind that Gary has

Keep in mind that Gary has never run AGAINST Ron Paul. He also flew to Houston to ask his support for his campaign before throwing his hat in the ring.

This isn't Paul v Johnson and never was.

Ron Paul is up for a nomination, but not really in the race. It would be different if he were campaigning for the job.

Every Liberty candidate needs to be promoted on DP

Liberty and peace was never about just one person.
It was never about only folks like Washington and Patrick Henry.
The moment the Liberty Movement is only about one person and his/her supporters it will fade away.

Some who down-vote I suspect some of them are Romney supporters.

Anyways a month ago I posted a GJ campaign video and it was rated +80. Lots of comments there on that thread several comments mentioning donations of $100 $250 to GJ campaign that's how moved some folks here were by this video I posted.

RP in my opinion has 0,5% chance to become the GOP nominee.
Instead of spending your time here you sould be busy converting Romney and Santorum delegates.

Anyways I just posted TMOT speech from yesterday - he is a die hard RP supporter you and others could give that post a bump.

There is information about

There is information about Obama and Romney here as well. If you confine a forum to a single subject, it dies.

Yes, but

it isn't promoting Obama and Romney.

But it is promoting liberty

But it is promoting liberty and if you don't have the stomach for liberty, go join the Democrat Party. Please.
