While Ron Paul Supporters Sued RNC for Backing Romney Early, RP Campaign Gave RNC Green Light

USA TODAY wrote an article this weekend about how welcoming the RNC has been to the Ron Paul campaign in their preparations for the Tampa convention. While it was amusing reading about how “helpful” the RNC has been to Ron Paul, down at the bottom of the article there’s an interesting quote that reads “In April, when the RNC wanted to start a joint fundraising operation with the Romney campaign following former senator Rick Santorum’s exit from the race, they made sure to touch base with Paul’s staff. Benton said at the time that the congressman gave his ‘blessing to begin assembling the Victory organization Republicans will require to guarantee a win in the fall.”

This would mean that while Ron Paul delegates & supporters were filing lawsuits against (cont.)

Ron Paul or none at all...

It doesn't seem his Campaign staff EVER shared that mentality.

It's going to be a grand celebration in Tampa... That's for sure. But, Benton and the rest were in-it-to-lose-it from the beginning.

What is going to happen at the RNC is already a done deal. There's an outside chance Ron Paul has enough delegates to win the nomination.

Nothing YOU or I can do can change what will happen in Tampa. We are cheerleaders at this point.

99% of the Romney delegates are vetted Establishment Republicans... Good luck waking them up on short notice. They respond to money NOT logic. However, if you do happen to encounter non-Paul delegates PLEASE by all means try to talk some sense into them.

Word of mouth is the grassroots primary tool. We all know the MSM isn't going to help us out. Truth will eventually prevail.

The most likely scenario to occur at the RNC is that Romney will be nominated, and there will be some contemptuous debates on a few proceedings. Does anyone disagree?

The Republican Party is not the only vehicle to seek liberty. As a matter of fact the Republican Party has been a very effective vehicle for usurping our liberty.

I may vote for liberty minded Republicans in local races, but my presidential vote is going to be cast for the Libertarian Party because I truly believe in social tolerance and fiscal responsibility.

You may not care for Gary Johnson based on what information you have been 'exposed' to. However, is Mitt Romney a prime example of conservatism? Candidates sometimes are not cast from a perfect party mold - Johnson is 95% libertarian IMO.

Even if you don't wish to vote for Johnson as a person, at least cast a vote for libertarian principles.

Are you going to support the principles of liberty long term? Or, are you going to become once again disinterested after Dr. Paul is no longer in the spotlight?

The Libertarian Party - although not an Established vehicle - is much less corrupted entity than the GOP. I plan to take over the GOP while I vote for liberty as much as possible?

How about you? Are you a multi-tasker?

Suggestion for everybody: I

Suggestion for everybody: I realize many of you were never involved in politics until you discovered Ron Paul. I respect that, and I think its one of the greatest things Ron has done, bringing new people into the fold and giving them a voice. However, if you have never been involved before, you may not understand certain things as well as people who have been doing it a while. Let me explain a few things:

1. Ron Paul hired Jesse Benton. Not the RNC. Jesse is married to Ron Paul's granddaughter for god's sake, they are obviously very close. Jesse Benton may have a different strategy than what some of you would like, but he is not a secret spy trying to sabotage the Ron Paul movement.

2. Regardless of whether the lawsuit is successful or not, which I don't believe it will be, Romney delegates are not going to simply change their mind because we give them a few handouts or whatever. Ron Paul's vote total at the convention may jump somewhat if the lawsuit were to be successful, but he would not win the nomination.

3. One of the biggest lies in American politics is the importance of the presidential race. As the Clinton administration proves, Congress guides policy far more than the president. For that reason, Ron Paul losing the nomination is far from the end of the movement. There are a number of terrific candidates nationwide, and the money going towards the lawsuit would be much better spent getting them elected.

4. Ron Paul has said he will not win the nomination. Don't believe me? Here's a link. And another link. And another.

The liberty movement needs to shift focus. Ron Paul's time as a politician is over. Lets turn our attention to people like Justin Amash, Thomas Massie, Ted Cruz, Kerry Bentivolio, and, yes, Rand Paul, because they are the ones to lead us into the future.

Definitely time to move on

"No one but Paul" is way too inflexible.

Kokesh makes the point pretty clearly. People don't like it, but it is true: Time to move on from Dr. Paul

Ron Paul 2016

One thing we know from history is that all the youg presidents were simply terrible.

Congress is the key. The Constitution built in term limits for the House enforceable every two years.

Congress like McDonalds has replaceable workers. Time to Pink Slip the lot of them.

Free includes debt-free!

Paul did not hire Benton, GOP/DNC shadow leadership hired.

paul does not do any hiring or firing. gop/dnc staff the campaigns.

benton is an idiot, and obviously just a front. he doesn't come up with any of the stuff you are reading. the behind the scenes cronies like tate & olson & co do all that.

so benton is not the enemy or a friend, he is just a big nothing.

Jesse Benton = Benedict Arnold!

C’mon boys, let’s take the plunder!

Still crying about that?

Either Benton is doing Paul's bidding...

Either Benton is doing Paul's bidding...
or Paul would be a horrible president.

I mean, if he can't even manage what his campaign manager is doing, how the heck is he going to manage the entire executive branch of the government?

Or... Benton is doing exactly what Paul wants and approves.

Now, which do you think is more likely?

Hey Little Shitty

Ron Paul does more in 1 day for the cause of Liberty than you can hope to do in your whole pathetic lifetime. No one calls Ron Paul (that name) on the DP - go fuck yourself.

Oh what's the matter, you

Oh what's the matter, you can't handle the truth, are you one of those ENABLERS who want to allow a problem to continue instead of trying to fix it. Do you Ron Paul enablers also like to enable alcoholics and wife beaters too, I'm just curious, as to whether there is a pattern here or not.

robot999's picture

Oh yes

there is a pattern: You and your paid friends coming over to this wonderful site spreading your babble (really wtf are you talking about?). I might recommend that you get off the scrips, and get a real job shitty. Oh, and put down the jack, and stop beating your wife.

If you read the article closely

it said this: "Benton said at the time that the congressman gave his ‘blessing to begin assembling the Victory organization Republicans will require to guarantee a win in the fall.”

That doesn't mention anywhere he's greenlighting the RNC for Romney or throwing his support behind Romney in any way, shape, or form. "The victory organization Republicans will require to guarantee a win in the fall." doesn't even MENTION Romney. Another way of looking at it could be that if Ron Paul wins the nomination, he would certainly want a "victory organization" in place to guarantee a win in the fall.

Just because Paul supporters are filing lawsuits against the RNC because of their scurrilous and illegal campaign tactics does not mean that we wouldn't prefer it if they were on our side instead of being a bunch of lowlife sleazebag fascist lawbreaking scum, ya know.

Duh..

He gave the RNC the blessing to fundraise for a fall victory for ROMNEY..wtf do you think that means?

Bottomline..there is something very wrong..

You are a breathe of fresh air

I had the same thought at you did. It seems people are willing to believe and read into evidence rather than just read the evidence.

That's a bit of a stretch

That's a bit of a stretch freeman, but after this Presidential race, nothing seems like an odd strategy.

maybe just maybe

Jesse Benton knows something personal with Dr. Paul that we do not/could not know.
Benton loves Dr. Paul with all his heart, this I know.

Rand Paul 2016

Maybe a fact?

I's say there's no maybe.. it's a fact!

Thank you for being YOU 1777free4all!!

Jesse Benton

gave up long before he should have. We all knew this already. He was making nice with Romney and the RNC with one side of his mouth and hosting "In it to win it" moneybombs out the other side. Many people have known for quite a while that Benton is a traitor and probably always has been.

Biggest Enemy Of The Republic - Jesse Benton

Benton was paid off by those $5, $10 donations from the thousands of good hard working people who love Ron Paul.

How else were he and John Tate going to get a pay check if they didn't push money bombs?

What used to happen to traitors of the Republic?

“It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie...the greatest enemy of the State.” ~Joseph Goebbels

And who put Jesse Benton in

And who put Jesse Benton in this position of power, none other than the biggest enemy of the liberty movement, presidential candidate Ron Paul.

Unless of course, Ron Paul has an excuse for all this, which we have yet to hear since he hasn't given one.

This is old news. Jesse

This is old news. Jesse Benton acknowledged this a long time ago.

Hmmmm....

Read that article twice. Somehow it just comes off as a propaganda feel-good piece, meant to cover the RNC's rearend. It doesn't seem factual at all.

No, It's True

Benton, for some inexplicable reason, told the RNC they could go ahead and push Romney while Paul was still asking us for money. Don't get me wrong, I still love RP. I just don't understand a lot of what Benton did...and didn't do during the election.

Unfortunately, I do understand it.

...Wish I didn't.

"Truth is an absolute defense to the charge of paranoia."

You don't understand because of YOUR choice

If you chose to not do what Ron Paul asked ALL of us to do through his campaign:

JOIN THE REPUBLICAN PARTY
Attend your local GOP central/town counsel meetings
become a CREDENTIALED delegate (campaign could have helped YOU on ALL those levels)

Then YOU disengaged, and were left to MSM to learn what was going on as an OUTSIDER.

Many delegates did not go to GOP meetings, neglected to become
credentialed, and found themselves having their seats taken away.

Blaming and bashing the campaign has always indentified one as NOT GETTING THE MESSAGE.

Hundreds of Ron Paul REPUBLICANS got the message and are not active in the GOP establishment, working at materializing Ron Paul's message. You can join us by attending your local GOP meetings, or remain outside, not understanding what is going on. We've moved to another level, and we are winning.

Last year I was the only Ron Paul Republican on my committee. Now there are five of us, and soon to be more. Why not you?

Your choice, and whatever that is, I respect that and am not putting anyone down for their choice, just standing up for those of us who made the other choice, to do what RP asked ALL of us to do.

Oh Thank You Sweet Mother Mary of Jesus

If that wasn't the truth I don't know what is.

Keep on rocking in the Free World!

Rand Paul 2016

okay, it's time to stop

okay, it's time to stop posting that garbage in every thread.

RP told all of us to become delegates. a lot of people did, and we had a ton of delegates, but many were disenfranchised by the GOP through various means, also, we were winning several states, then the campaign essentially gave up at the WORST possible time.

it has nothing to do with "committee" seats.

CREDENTIALED

Many qualified but only credentialed, those who are passed by the local committee are chosen, or in a state like mine, CA, the campaign selectes the delegates, and the election says who's delegates go to convention.

You don't know jack about what a committee is and does. Why not educate yourself and stop proving how much you enjoy being ignorant?

The campaign achieved pluarity in 5 states and stopped actively campaigning because it was apparent MSM was not going to give Ron Paul credit for OUR achievement.

What was the point of spending money so MSM can ignor and lie? It's not about Ron Paul ROCK STAR, it's about materializing the message, and we have a plan, that you refuse to engage.

Suit yourself, but know, to those of us who did engage, all you appear as a member of a Ron Paul fan club(outsider). That's great, but it's not what Ron Paul asked you to do.
