"They've (RNC) just treated us like a friend and like a coalition," said Jesse Benton

Jesse Benton and the RNC have been working together for months? Dare I ask what the agenda is? The Ron Paul campaign cannot organize a rally without the RNC?

The following couple paragraphs are from a USA Today article and I included a link below as well.

The Paul campaign and the Republican National Committee (RNC) have been working closely over the past few months to work out logistics in order to include the Texas congressman and his supporters in the August convention in Tampa.

"They've just treated us like a friend and like a coalition," said Jesse Benton, a spokesman for the Paul campaign. "They have been honest brokers in working with us and treated us with respect."

Paul will hold a rally with supporters Aug. 26 at the University of South Florida's Sun Dome — a venue convention planners helped him get.

"We have worked closely with Congressman Paul to secure a location for this event," said Kyle Downey, a spokesman for the GOP convention.

I am not going to Tampa as a political tool for Jesse Benton so that he can further his career with the RNC. When was the Ron Paul campaign going to let us know about their "planning"? DIRTY ROTTON LOUTS. I am not driving 3,000 miles round trip so that Jesse Benton can take credit for delivering us to some KOOL AID convention. I am tired of feeling like the idiot in the back seat who is paying for the gas while the Ron Paul campaign is learning to drive.

It is obvious that Jesse Benton has already sold us out.
This is a Ron Paul rally. Thousands upon thousands of us have been kicked around by the RNC for months and now we have to have the stench of their dirty hands fouling up our day in the sun?
Hey, I am all about encouraging peace and decorum, so I do not object to a friendly reminder that we mind our "P's and Q's"... but that is all I am going to sit for.
My girlfriend has already put in for the days off and I have re-arranged my schedule and set aside money to attend a Ron Paul rally. In the end I expect Ron Paul to either get nominated or not get nominated. We will not be some captive audience for RNC propaganda beforehand, Jesse Benton has already kissed enough butt for all of us. I would rather have a money bomb for our own rally than take a dime from our abusers.

LOL! I'm sure they love Jesse! "Honest brokers"??

What planet is he on?? Stealing elections and pre-emptively coronating Rombama as the nominee doesn't seem all that friendly and respectful.....but that's just me.

Some of You Still Don't Get It

Some of you have expressed confusion as to the character of "the RNC" and "the GOP" and "the campaign" referring to groups of people. Some have good opinions, and some have bad, of these groups.

This is collectivism in action and it causes conflict.

Groups are made up of individuals. Clearly some individuals are more helpful than others, and one individual does not speak for all.

It is a waste of time to generalize about these groups, after all, if all politicians are bad, incumbents are bad, Congress is remiss, then that includes Ron Paul, and that's obviously not fair. Reach out and make friends with individuals--just because some are scared of us and react badly, does not mean they all are.

And, unless you were there and have first hand knowledge, I doubt you can tell me whether Jesse Benton was truthful or not. At any rate, sometimes it makes sense to call someone "helpful" to motivate them to live up to it.

What do you think? http://consequeries.com/

oh I get the advantages of playing nice

It is his timing, especially concerning this event that gives me pause. Maybe he should have played nice to diffuse all the landmines that the RNC/GOP had set out for us "individuals" at almost every step of their nomination process.
I don't hate the RNC or GOP....but I do have serious resentments for their pattern of rigging to our disadvantage especially since we could have run 3rd party.

As I previously stated

Benton's "logic" is that we should be appreciative to the GOP for only beating us half to death.

There are no politicians or bankers in foxholes.

now thats funny

That is his style...find a silver lining in every defeat. Only we are soon running out of clouds to thank them for.

hahah yes

and they only stole HALF the votes at each caucus.

Forget Jesse Benton! Go the Convention - please.

You represent a lot of us who,for whatever reason, could not make it to Tampa. I doubt Jesse will have the guts to show his face. He'd be tarred and feathered for sure.

Until we change the way money works, we change nothing. End the Fed!

Someone Punch that Son of a BITCH in the FACE for me

"They've just treated us like a friend and like a coalition," said Jesse Benton, a spokesman for the Paul campaign. "They have been honest brokers in working with us and treated us with respect."

Go to fuckin hell you asshole.

Don't you think

That Ron could just as easily have spoken at the 3 day Paul Fest that is planned? Why does he need a seperate rally set up with the permission and help of the RNC? If he is not nominated, do you think they will allow him in the door at the real convention? My greatest fear is that the speeches at the rally will be about unifying behind Romney.Do you think that could be what Benton is pushing here? I too, hesitate to attend this expensive event if it is only going to turn into RNC approved Romney promotion. I still believe that Ron won't sell out like that, but the fear and doubt is creeping in whenever Benton speaks. "honest brokers" my A$$$$$

i think he may have worried

about security, seating, a whole host of details that might have made paulfest hard to setup

I wouldnt consider it a big deal. Now his campaign with their 3 million SHOULD pay for busses FROM paulfest to the event.

exactly...why now?

We have at least 15% of the voters from the primaries. What is the RNC getting in exchange for "helping" us? I don't know about you, but many of us are still having pain trying to sit down after the all the help we have already recieved from the RNC this past year.

What a pantload

of bullfunky. This Benton character is a tool.

When a true genius appears in the world, you may know him by this sign: that the dunces are all in confederacy against him. ~J. Swift

It's sad..

When people calling themselves supporters of Dr. Paul, just can't get it. Please don't go, because you would only be taking the space of someone truly committed.

there were two well defined groups before Iowa as well

When the campaign wanted people to stay home and not go to the Iowa caucuses most people listened, some people however questioned the camapign's strategy. This caused quite a stir among supporters on this website. Jesse Benton has raised the eyebrows of many supporters with some of the decisions that he has made for almost a year now. The campaign knows best crowd uses any criticism of Paul's handlers for an excuse to use personal attacks against those in the same tent to defend a man who seems unable to get it done.
Paul may become president...if he does, I think that the campaign took a lot harder road to get there than they had to. If the best candidate cannot overcome the obstacles necessary to win I have a good idea what happened.
After the dust settles and when a history of accounts are written, it may become apparent to "real" supporters that there have been colossal mistakes made by the Paul campaign. Nobody can argue whether Jesse Benton was the right man for the job in September. He will either get it done or he won't. Think about Santorum and Gingrich, they are both very unappealing characters yet they they managed to exceed expectations. They were both long shots early on yet they were in it to win it. They beat almost all expectations with almost no ground support to become real threats. Paul had money and supporters early on......there should be no excuses.

let me clarify

There has to be balance in a campaign, but I object to calling anyone handlers of Dr Paul. I've never heard Dr Paul to have any aspirations to be president, especially by force. Change the platform and change the party, of course. That is what has happened and I don't appreciate people whining about individuals who are not doing what they want. I trust the strategies and for those who want all or nothing I say your fools, as the saying goes" Fools rush in". As for Benton, who knows, maybe there are problems, but it's not for us to decide in our court of public opinion.
It seems to me there are two camps, Ron Paul's and those who can't accept anything outside of their own shallow mindsets. Holding the White House is not the only means to Victory, but I would love it, out of my own selfishness.

I wish he would define the

I wish he would define the word friend 'cause I think his definition is different than mine

If they are treating Ron Paul

If they are treating Ron Paul and his delegates, and supporters, so nice, then why is it that they won't invite them inside?

RON PAUL 2012 * Restore America * Bring The Troops Home

treating us nice?

My state level GOP is in full-press Romney mode. And county GOPs are already pushing out Rmoney yard signs.

They are not talking a word about the Santorum/Paul coalition that did well in Colorado.

Just do your job.

eff Jesse BEnton.

Did he elect you to your office? NO.

People ELECTED YOU for a purpose and to do a job.

Now, go to Tampa and DO YOUR JOB and fulfill the purpose.

Presumably, they elected you because they knew you were a Ron Paul supporter and that you would VOTE FOR RON PAUL IN TAMPA.

So quit bellyaching. Quit listening to other people like every other slimey politician.

You got elected for a purpose. Now go fulfill that purpose for the people who put you into this venerated position.

Just do your job! 100% attendance on the floor. 100% support for Ron Paul's nomination to the candidacy for president.

this is what was going on last I knew...no marching orders here

In addition to Paul's pre-convention rally (I referred to it in my original post as a KOOL AID convention), two separate groups of his supporters are planning their own festivals for the days before the convention.

Paul Festival 2012 is being planned for the Florida State Fairgrounds, just east of Tampa, to celebrate Paul's life, libertarian philosophy and service.

Thirty-five miles farther to the east on Interstate 4, Freedom Festival 2012 is being planned for Fantasy of Flight in Polk County. There the main focus is expected to be less on Paul himself and more on the U.S. Constitution. Both festivals are scheduled for Aug. 24 through 26.

But remember.

People did not elect you so you could party.

People did not elect you so you would take "marching orders".

They elected you under the presumption that you would be in 100% attendance on the floor of the convention, show up early, leave late, and VOTE FOR RON PAUL.

That's the long and the short of it.

If you are not respecting and expressing the will of the people who put you into your position, you're just another slimey politician.

I tried to clarify my position yet there still seems to be

confusion. Maybe you are replying to someone else, but that does not appear to be the case. Can anyone explain to me why "FBI" thinks that I hold an elected position?

The way you phrased your OP

The way you phrased your OP makes it sound like you are a delegate.

common practice here

People go off on attacks, often times personal based on assumptions without spending the time to understand intent.
Romney has recently been criticized by Rupert Murdoch for running an amateurish campaign, and by others for being too soft on the Dems gangster/thug style reelection machine, but that does not mean that Mr. Murdoch does not like, support or won't vote for Romney. It is just hard to sit silent while watching as opportunity after opportunity is squandered and your candidate is taking unnecessary punches.
James Carville understands the importance of staying on topic and if your opponent is trying to kick you in the balls ....you drill them right back with everything you got. Chicago style politicians get voted in for a reason. They don't care about getting dirty, or they have someone else get the job done for them.
Jesse Benton is no Lee Atwater or James Carville, but he should have tried making nice with the RNC before Iowa if ever. Now he is trying to estsblish good rapport after they handed our teeth back to us. He was in over his head from the jump, and if he knew anything about politics he should have known better than to take the job.
Nobody has been elected to office in our lifetime without at least one heavy hitter in their corner. Look what happened to Michelle Bachmann when she did not listen to her professional campaign manager and he walked....she tanked as soon as the news broke.

Just remember

The USA Today "quoted" Doug Wead awhile back, but according to Wead, he never spoke with them. Typical media scum. Even if Jesse did, remember this:

"A gentleman is simply one who thinks one thing...but says another." -- Doc Holliday

what is the original poster talking about?

people. you can't just buy tickets and "go to the convention"

also, we've long known the campaign is trying to include Paul and and his supporters. is it any wonder that they might be mapping logistics?

what planet is this person on?

Anyone can buy tickets and attend the convention. They are non-voting guests.

To buy a ticket that will allow voting costs a lot more money than most of us can afford, and requires being a GOP insider in one of the states.

I know what planet I am on

I guess you have not heard about the rally before the convention. It may be under the map to your logistics. You seem to be the only person here who is not eating what has been cooking.

according to USA Today

Paul will hold a rally with supporters Aug. 26 at the University of South Florida's Sun Dome — a venue convention planners helped him get.
