A Liberty Test-Chick-fil-A

The city of Chicago has stated it will deny Chick-fil-A a business permit based strictly upon thought, or the opinions of the company owners.

“Because of this man’s ignorance, I will now be denying Chick-fil-A’s permit to open a restaurant in the First Ward,” stated Proco Moreno, Alderman of the First Ward.

“Chick-fil-A values are not Chicago values,” said Mayor Rahm Emanuel.

So, do we lovers of liberty stand with Chick-fil-A’s right to not be discriminated against for thought, or do we join the politically correct bullying?

Boston mayor relents.

"...Menino, under fire from civil rights advocates for his avowed suppression of free speech, backtracked, saying, “I can’t do that. That would be interference to his rights to go there.” He whined, “Yes, people have criticized me, I understand that. But I have feelings ... I have my First Amendment rights also. I’m expressing them. I make mistakes all the time. That’s a Menino-ism.”

It’s one thing to express yourself, Mr. Mayor; it’s another to shut down those who disagree with you. To paraphrase Johnny Paycheck, take those feelings and shove them."

City mayors can if I'm

City mayors can if I'm correct use ordinances etc to deny access from a business. My town denied fast foot places from opening because it would bring to many problems. I don't like the reasoning, even though his comments were in poor taste, but I believe he does have the ability to do so.

Chick-Fil-A

I don't eat fast food very often, but when I do, it's Chick-Fil-A! (Said in the Dos Equis guys voice)

Yep

Chick a fila is my new favorite fast food restaurant.

It is not the government's

It is not the government's job to choose to boycott a product for us.

Are we to ignore this blatant infringement of liberty...

simply because of the subject matter?

Chicago values indeed

Chicago hasn’t seen murders at this pace since 2003, when the city suffered 283 homicides by the end of June, and 601 over the year. The violence that began to explode in neighborhoods across this city this spring represents a 36 percent increase in murder over the same stretch of last year.
