"Romney has to take a very Machiavellian approach," he explained. "He wants to keep his friends - his supporters - close,

and his potential enemies - Paul supporters - even closer."

He won't get closer than a mile to me!

"Gov. Romney has a lot of respect for Dr. Paul and the energy his supporters bring to the process," Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul said. "We look forward to broad participation at the Tampa convention and know the Paul enthusiasts will have their voices heard."

Giving Paul's fans some room could be a wise strategic move for Romney, O'Connell said.

Keep your enemies closer?

Wow that is such a smart piece of advice. I wish Ron Paul supporters would have known of this amazing never-ever-heard-by-anyone-before wisdom sooner..........................

Romney hasn't even made a

Romney hasn't even made a statement on the Audit the Fed bill passing the House yesterday.

Romney is in no way an open and honest politician.

He almost never answers a question but beats around the bush with pseudo-noncommittal replies.

And I get the feeling he's hiding a lot from the people.

He's a used car salesman type of politician.

He his however concerned with image first.

All image and no substance.

And remember, his touting what he did with the Olympics was done with public funds.

"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."

Machiavelli wanted a republic

He gave the Prince the advice that would be the fastest road to disaster for his reign. It worked and the City eventually set up a Republic.

Machiavelli knew that a prince was not to be trusted and that they trusted no one. So he played on the prince's valid paranoia. His advice turned the Prince into an absolute rotter.

Same happens to anyone who takes Machiavelli's advice to the Prince seriously.

Machiavelli studied and wrote about the failed Roman republic looking for the flaws and commenting on successful methods hoping that future generation would take heed after suffering enough insufferable Princes.

Free includes debt-free!

He can come close, until I see the whites of his eyes.

Politically speaking, of course.

Sounds like "Manchurian".

I am sixty years old and I just learned a new word. Anyway, O'Romney knows he can't win without us. So he will say or do anything to bring us over. Well Mr. O'Romney it ain't gonna happen.

In Liberty from the Pacific Northwest.

Good luck with that, Willard.

We're not voting for your greedy, lying, flip-flopping ass, give it up.

I don't play, I commission the league.

If Romulan Really Loved And Respected Ron Paul, He Would Drop

out and support Ron Paul and the liberty movement...Right?

Romulan is a lying, kniving, disingenuous bastard! Other than that he's ok..lol

He is giving Paul supporters

He is giving Paul supporters room because he has no choice and he knows it.

What an incredibly stupid response. This is clear proof that their campaign is intellectually and philosophically bankrupt imo...well unless you are an Machiavellian of course.

Btw, I think the Romney Campaign watches way too much TV.

Stop watching CNN Romneyites. :)

I do not....

subscribe to the Machiavellian methodology. However, I have read 'The Prince,' and I believe that if Machiavelli were here today, he would think Romney was ignorant of reality.

One of Hitler's favorite authors was Machiavelli. This is something he and Romney may have in common.

He's failing

really bad if he's trying to keep me close. All his mail, snail or email has been thrown out . Right after I comment that it's Paul or nobody.
