Letter from Former Maine State Director for Ron Paul Campaign

Dear Maine Ron Paul Community,

As you may have heard today, Jan Staples---the Maine Republican National Committeewoman who was defeated for re-election at the 2012 Maine Republican Convention---is striking back.

After her loss at the Maine Republican Convention last May, Jan Staples (along with Peter Cianchette, Chairman of the Maine Mitt Romney Campaign), is now spearheading an effort to unseat the National Delegates who were rightfully elected at that convention. These National Delegates were voted on and properly elected by a majority of the State Republican Delegation. Now, Jan Staples is attempting to undo the democratic process we all participated in during last May's Convention.

Jan Staples' attack on the Maine Delegation comes just as we are preparing to fly down to Tampa to represent Maine in less than one month. With hotels booked and flights paid for, this attack hits the 40 elected Ron Paul Delegates and Alternates who have scrimped and saved since May in order to fulfill their elected responsibility of representing Maine in Tampa.

Jan Staples often speaks highly about the need for unity in the Maine Republican Party. Her actions, however, work to fracture and divide us by alienating those Republicans with whom she disagrees.

I agree that party unity is important. We have a sitting Republican Governor who has done more to cut and limit government than any resident of the Blaine House in recent memory. It is vital that we support him with constitutional conservative Republican majorities in the Maine State House and State Senate this November.

While Jan Staples espouses these same ideals, her actions do not demonstrate that party unity is among her priorities.

The good news is that Jan Staples and Peter Cianchette appear to be acting alone and without support from Maine GOP leadership.

In the aftermath of the Maine State Convention, Maine Party Chairman Charlie Webster declared his support for the right of the Maine delegation to be seated at the Republican National Convention: "The way I look at this, an election was held. We're going to fight to get our delegates seated in Tampa, that's our position. That's what we're ready to do."

Rick Bennett, the outgoing Maine National Committeeman, echoed this sentiment, stating last May that he would "fight tooth and nail" to ensure that Maine's delegates are seated at the national convention.

Adding to this is Governor Paul LePage's voice. In a statement released today, the Governor's office declared: "Governor Paul LePage stands behind Maine Republican National Committeeman Rick Bennett's position that all Maine Delegates should be seated at the Republican National Convention."

Despite efforts to divide us, we remain united.
Despite attempts to attack us, we remain strong.

We will represent Maine.
We will march to Tampa.
We will vote for Ron Paul.

For Liberty,
Eric Brakey
Maine National Delegate

Your work for Liberty is so appreciated

Thank you.

Mitt Romney needs to stop this NOW!

The behavior of his campaign operatives has been despicable. The insults and abuses that his campaign has thrown at the Republicans supporting Ron Paul are inexcusable. For someone who is the "presumptive nominee" of his party, locked in a tight presidential race, he seems inexplicably Hellbent on alienating a major part of his electoral base.

Even if individuals like Peter Cianchette are acting independently, Romney could at least make a statement disavowing his efforts.

Does he REALLY think that he is going to improve his chances of a win in November with these scorched earth tactics?

The Virtual Conspiracy

Eric Brakey

I've had the pleasure to meet and seek advice from Eric Brakey here in Washington County, and at the convention, and we couldn't ask for a better leader in Maine. Eric knows his stuff and is extremely persistent, so if this mess can be straightened out, I'm confident Eric and his team will get it done.

Excellent news!

Excellent news!

Excellent post. We do not

Excellent post. We do not stand down we stand up.

If you have any doubt at all that Romney is behind ALL of this

go to wwww.ronpaulone.com Site was down as it was so busy earlier. Don' forget Romney's guy Charlie, the fake slate distributor in Maine and one other state, on Romney's actual payroll. It's on youtube. And many other instances in every state easily youtubed or googled.

Oh--and the governor's statement is quite carefully worded......to support the "correct" Republican delegates....

Fans of Lawyers for Ron Paul

...has not been posted on since July 25. Would have thought, since ronpaulone.com site is closed down saying "exceeded traffic" that others like minded would be posting like crazy on "Fans of.... "

Confusing to me. Karen, I do not mean to be disrespectful. As you know, I am a skeptic and question. It just seems that with enough interest and hits to close a site, the Fans of would be very active right now.

Can you explain.

How many years do you have left in Junior High, Fonta?

Fonta asked an intelligent question.

What kind of response, other than the obvious insult, is that? She did not insult you, nor would she do so. Fonta asked a question that you should answer, even if the answer is, I don't know".

Insults are not encouraged and could get you banned. Be careful.

We don't have the governors support, evidence should be gathered

I wouldn't count so firmly on the governors support:

“Gov. Paul LePage stands behind Maine Republican National Committeeman Rick Bennett’s position that all Maine delegates should be seated at the Republican National Convention,” Brent Littlefield, a senior political adviser to the governor said in a statement issued Saturday afternoon. “The governor also understands that he does not have a formal role in the process of determining delegates to the Tampa convention. Therefore, he has made his position known to Maine’s members of the Republican National Committee: Chairman Charlie Webster, Rick Bennett and Jan Staples.

“In November the governor looks forward to joining a united Republican Party in voting for the candidate who can help restore our economy, Mitt Romney,” the statement concluded.

Romney has no idea what is happening under his name. Or, does he? That is the question. And will Republicans STILL vote for him knowing he does or doesn't know?

I have to wonder?

Did the Governor and his wife receive the same registered letter. They were both elected delegate and alternate respectively on our slate.

What you can do to help...

I realize everyone is frustrated with everything going on in Maine and Louisiana right now, I am too, but we still need to focus on trying to win over as many delegates to the RNC as possible. This thread lays out a great plan. Several states have already been completed but we need YOUR help to reach more delegates!!

Ron Paul convert from the Heart of Dixie

NO MORAL VALUES of~~~right & wrong!!~~~LAWSUITS come on!!

These GOP local people are so completely brainwashed, like a herd instinct, they all follow the GOP nationals. It's disgusting.

I'm not kidding you, with "damages" due to airline ticket losses & hotel reservations!!

Man, this is the most disgusted I've been in years! These people will rue the day they ever did this, and someday they will know just EXACTLY what they have done to our country, and then???, I won't have any sympathy for them! POS GARBAGES!

The mistake these people have made was to under estimate technology.

There is video, audio, email, taped conversations, witnesses and everything under the sun that will one day be used against them.
The establishment does not yet realize that this type of technologhey CAN NOT BE ERASED!lol
Where theyve made their mistake is in thinking this will take 10-15 years to get the truth out fully, this is what theyre used to...Kennedy, Tonkin, WW1 and 2.. and on and on.. They think they csn hide from todays technology!lol
It will take only a few months once the story gets rolling and one bad thing happens after another.
When you build a house of cards on a faulty foundation, one little shake and it all comes down.
and the establishment more then anyone else should remember, the bigger they get, the harder the club will fall on their corrupted little heads.
They are seeking to make the fight bigger and they are fewer!!!lol
their corruption and greed blinds them to honest facts. They have been working within a secret cabal and not used to people peering in at them.
The technology now here allows just that.

The entire time they have been watching us, ironically enough should have been time spent covering up their crooked tracks. They are sloppy, old and tired. They are confused at the technology that surrounds them and dont understand it. The kids get in front of them, catch their ignorance and YOUTUBE it INSTANTLY. They do not and can not recognize the importance of this...
They will have no where to hide. Hacking the Iphone in less then 24hrs of its release?? Hacking a spy drone over American skys in less the a week and for under $1000??? ask DeLay.. He had to dance. A dancing pig to save his face.. Ask Weiner or Walsh. ask Ney and Vitter, and Craig.. Even others see technology take their friends down, right in front of them~ and do not see they are next!
If it werent so sad, it would be mind bending FUNNY to watch.
They do not see clearly. DHS was beside themselves when that drone was hacked... an iraqi 12 yo can make an ied out of a cell phone in LESS THEN A MONTH! what does this say????

Their days are numbered and they know it.
They have been caught by the oldest of conspiracies. greed and LUST for power has led them to their OWN waterloo. and its been ARCHIVED FOREVER, because one day the truth will come to all Americans and that will be their end.

fight the rule breakers..

and we'll see you in Tampa! RP2012 !

That's The Spirit...Everyone has A Job and You have Done Yours!

My compliments and respect...The rEVOLution is alive and well..

So in their minds

the RNC is just a big party that has no real importance because EVERYONE will vote for the presumptive nominee (or else).

Seems like a BIG waste of money (what else is new) to hold a convention that is all show and no substance.

What a crock...here's hoping a HUGE reality check turns their Stepford-Wives-World upside down.

Excellent Letter, Eric!

Let them wail and scream!!

And as they do take note and show them to everyone. People are waking up, and their death throws and gnashing of teeth paint a grim picture for the republican party. Rest in Peace GOP.

Liberty is meaningless where the right to utter one’s thoughts and opinions has ceased to exist. That, of all rights, is the dread of tyrants. It is the right which they first of all strike down.

Rest in peace is very gracious of you.

These scumbags will know in short order how their (our) party is evolving. We play by the rules and will win.

The wailing screams one hears, is that of the dying BEAST!

Their time IS UP, and they now know it.

Wearing Down Tactic Is More Dirty Politics.

Thinking about it, looks like an attempt to open up even more battlefronts in the hope that it will wear down and exhaust Paul supporters and their finances. Just par for the course for this Republican selection process of Dirty Politics.

Also, from postings so far, I might see that RP's Maine delegates are being challenged, apparently on grounds of process. But I can't see any specific grounds for the challenge. Are there any? When do they have to give those grounds?

so NOW they are going to remove the Delegates we ALREADY WON

WHY am I not surprised.

His name is Edward Snowden

What is Capitalism?

Sounds politically expedient...

for Charlie Webster to act like a liberty fighter now. That guy is a snake in the grass. I hope his career in politics comes to a quick end.
