The Libertarian Party is a total failure and

Gary Johnson is a traitor to the Ron Paul Revolution. The main goal of the revolution is to spread the message and get liberty candidates elected to office through the framework of the republican party. During this process Paulites have taken key political positions throughout the states, we are changing the party from within. There are only 250,000 registered libertarians in the entire country. There are more Ron Paul Republicans than that in California alone. Gary Johnson had an opportunity to advance liberty by running for senate in NM. He would of had the full backing of the revolution with money to boot. He selfishly took the LP ticket knowing full well there is no shot of a 3rd party taking the WH. Johnson is also a TERRIBLE debator. There is no way I want to see him on stage with Obama or Romney, Romney is a tool, but Obama is one of the slickest politicians I have ever seen. It would set the revolution back. Something we definately do not need. So enough of the GJ and LP BS. They are barnacles causing drag on the USS Liberty.

You're smoking CRACK

The only reason Paul is on the Republican ticket is because it was the best vehicle for HIM to get the message out. If and when he is unable to use that vehicle himself to propagate his message, Ron Paul will be more than happy to leave and go whereever his message is being propagated, case in point, when he left the GOP and endorsed the Constitutional Candidate in 2008.

He knows very well, once he is gone, the gop will once again divide and conquer. The odds of another him are virtually impossible, for 99.9% of people would not stand to take the abuse he did in that party, and as such they would assimilate like Rand Paul or just leave.

Dr. Paul did endorse Chuck

Dr. Paul did endorse Chuck Baldwin for POTUS in '08 but RP did not leave the Republican Party.

His support did!

If the Libertarian Party is a failure, then the Republican and

Democratic Parties are colossal failures. At least the Libertarian Party stands for liberty and has a history of opposing big government. The Republican and Democratic Parties have brought this country to its knees and instituted greater subjugation that even King George instituted to prompt the original American Revolution.

I also question your assertion that the purpose of the revolution is to elect candidates to office through the framework of the Republican Party. That certainly was never my goal; my goal was to support Ron Paul in his effort to get out the message of freedom and to at least take a shot at getting the Presidential nomination.

Ron Paul mostly received between 5% and 10% of the votes in the Republican primaries and even in State caucuses where a motivated core was able to elect some delegates we only picked up a handful of delegates. Are you then going to say Ron Paul was a failure too?

Maybe it is the failure of people like yourself to support efforts on many fronts to advance liberty that is the barnacle dragging the hull of the USS Liberty. Ron Paul will not be the Republican Party nominee. Gary Johnson is the Libertarian Party Nominee. What are you going to do, vote for Obama or Romney in your narrow minded view of advancing liberty?

I don't understand your hostility to Gary Johnson and the Libertarian Party.

I think the reality is that restoration of freedom will never come from voting. It will come from revolution and not the peaceful kind, simply because political action and voting is about money and power, not freedom.

"Bend over and grab your ankles" should be etched in stone at the entrance to every government building and every government office.

Amazing how

commonsense goes out the window when it comes to idolworshippers...

Liberatarian relevance

I was introduced to Objectivism as a young Marine in Japan by reading Who Is Ayn Rand in 1965. The book introduced me to reason and the need for individual freedom.

My Libertarian Party membership number is 1805. I joined in 1973. I was in awe of Nolan's party and its promise. How could the Libertarians fail? I was sure that their ideas would sweep the country and I would enjoy freedom in my lifetime---Nope!! It hasn't happened yet.

The party was founded forty years ago and the Libertarians have yet to better Ed Clark's record in 1980. The Libertarians have to get on the ballot in 19 more states for 2012's election. Michigan's ballot status is in litigation. Good Luck in making 50 states. It isn't looking good. Johnson may have made a big mistake. He should have remained in the Republican Party and worked for change from within. It is happening.

The Libertarians best year was the Ed Clark campaign of 1980. As high profile as Harry Brown's campaigns were he didn't do any better. A high Libertarian vote percentage for any office in Michigan is 5%.

I dropped out of the Libertarian Party after 911 when the platform was compromised by giving relevancy to the federal agencies investigating the crimes. It was the last straw. By that time I had arrived at the conclusion that Libertarians were mostly talk and very little action other than running paper campaigns. We have had Libertarians elected in Michigan if they ran nonpartisan or Republican campaigns.

The disadvantage with Libertarian campaigns is that the candidates are easily marginalized as being unelectable or as crackpots who want to legalize drugs and prostitution. The advantage to running as a Libertarian-Republican is that the candidates aren't marginalized and have a voice in the party. Ron Paul made libertarians acceptable in the Republican Party.

The future of Libertarians is in the Republican Party. It will probably take one more election cycle to firm up our gains in the party. Ron Paul's popularity is driving the Republicans to re-evaluate the party's agenda and reject statist/establishment doctrine for individual freedom and responsibility through restoration of the constitutional republican government as envisioned and set down by the Founders.

I would be very embarrassed to be a Libertarian today. The Tea Party has generated more press and had more influence on politics in two years than the Libertarian Party has in forty.

It only takes one to KEEP AMERICANS FREE. Know your duties & rights as a juror. Stop the unconstitutional conviction of innocents in federal custody. The Fully Informed Jury CALL 1-800-TEL-JURY www.fija.org IMMEDIATELY if not sooner. It's that important.

The Tea Party (which I must

The Tea Party (which I must remind you is not a party) is a refuge for disaffected neo-conservative Republicans. That is why they are more "effective"... they are part of the two-party dominant system and represent so-called "conservative Christians".

Also, what is "crackpot" about supporting the legalization of prostitution and currently illegal drugs? People are free agents and decide all the time to visit prostitutes and use drugs. The only difference is that the police state grows in attempting to suppress that which will never be wiped out, and it is blindness thinking more police will solve anything.

What effects exactly...

has the Tea Party had on actual policy? Since 2008, this nation as an official entity has become more socialist than ever before.

Political party's themselves

are anti individual. Having a collectivist group come together for political gain goes completely against liberty and individualism. The Ron Paul Revolution is taking over the republican party, and it is my hope that when we become the GOP establishment, those in those positions of power, destroy their power and the party.

I consider it a moot point since the entire party based system is a failure.

NOTE: I am not advocating violence in any way. The content of the post is for intellectual, theoretical, and philosophical discussion. FEDS, please don't come to my house.

The only thing the LP is good for is

throwing away your vote in a presidential general election if you're frustrated with the Dem and Rep choices. Other than that, the LP is a royal waste of time and energy. How many Congressmen are Libertarian? How many Senators are Libertarian? If Ron Paul can't get the GOP nomination, if Ron Paul supporters really care about the future of this country more than their own egos, they will donate everything they would have donated to Ron Paul in the general to Republican Liberty candidates running for Congress and Senate rather than give one dime to Gary Johnson. At least in Congress, classical liberal candidates have a chance of something done. Gary Johnson, however, will never poll above 10%, will never make any debates, and will never become president.

Agreed: The LP is a waste of time and energy

Its a "feel good about myself" vote. That is all. Sure, pull the lever for GJ if you must, but don't get side tracked into working for the GJ campaign or the LP.

Get on with the R3VOLution, stay focused. Its time we also brand ourselves as "Jefferson Democrats" inside the DNC. Become PCs in that party too.

When a Jefferson Democrat goes up against a Ron Paul Republican, you know Liberty is going to win. That is how we use the 2 party duopoly system against itself.

I can't wait till the day

the next generation says "what was all this political party stuff grandpa was part of."

That is so ridiculous!

Political parties will exist as long as the United States of America exists and there will only be two parties that ever put people in the White House.

Political Parties

The two political parties will exist for as long as people are too stupid to realize they are run by the same elites.

Dude, wake up...

the two-party paradigm is ruining this country. One of the biggest items on the liberty movement's agenda should be to stop this shit.

I don't play, I commission the league.

So what do you propose?

a three-party paradigm? a four-party paradigm? a five-party paradigm? It wouldn't take long and all 3/4/5 parties would be fighting over the same Independent, centrist (oblivious) voters and fighting for the same agenda. Ron Paul received less than two million votes. There were nearly 130 million people that voted in the 2008 general election. You're not going to mess up the parties of more than a 100 million people with just 2 million. If the Liberty Movement tries to spend its time bucking the two-party system, it will remain fringe and marginalized. We have had a two-party system for the past 158 years and that's not going to change. The only way to bring political change is to pick the better of the two and take it over.

How about no parties?

People have to run and govern on their own merits, and do their own fundraising. Daddy's-money brats like Willard with zero original ideas need not apply. It'd also keep the lazy sheeple away from the polls because they'd actually have to do research, leaving the voting to informed people who care about this country's future.

I don't play, I commission the league.

That's how George Washington wanted it.

He didn't want any political parties and he was the only president not to belong to a party. But, during his own administration, people within his own administration started organizing into factions based on ideological lines.

Let's suppose political parties were abolished. The former Conservatives, former libertarians, former Democratic Keynesians, and former socialists would still vote together as blocs. In order to get their man elected president, the Socialist faction/bloc would form an alliance with the moderate former Democrats the way European, parliamentary politics works. The only way to prevent parties from forming back up as soon as they're disbanded would be to have a Constitutional amendment making them illegal. A Constitutional amendment takes two-thirds majority in the Senate and three-fourths of the states to pass.

Also, how would abolishing political parties keep Daddies' money brats from applying and using their own fortune and the fortune of rich bankers for their political advancement? If parties were abolished, all politicians would be Independents. An Independent can get the dough just like a Republicrat (Ross Perot).

No surprise There

The ugly truth but

How the Money Power created Libertarianism and Austrian Economics

Luke 3:38
Isaiah 43:3-5

the libertarian party hasn't been impressive to date...but some guy named Ron Paul left the GOP and joined it and ran for President on that failed Libertarian Party ticket in '88.

I think we should stay active in the GOP and take it over....as we are doing now. BUT, in a general election, if Gary Johnson were to make it into the debates, and the choice was Obummer, Willard, or Gary Johnson....I would vote for Johnson in a heartbeat.

Over 75% of people polled consistantly say they WOULD consider voting for a third party ticket. Crazier things have happened.

However, I just want to focus now on the convention. If Ron Paul is NOT the GOP nominee....I am voting for Gary...while remaining a republican.

I agree....don't think we should be demonizing anyone with similar views as us.

What he said! Thank you - you

What he said! Thank you - you summed up all my thoughts and did so much more succinctly than I would. Dead on!

You're welcome.

For the past couple of months I have been back and forth on my second choice if Paul doesn't get the nom, Then I realised, eff johnson, the impact that I will have on the person counting the write in vote is more substantial than a 3rd party vote counted by the msm. Go paul, write in, all the way. and my apologies to all of those liberty powerhouses out there that I tried to talk into voting for 3rd party for MSM reasons. My bad :)

You mean the impact you will

You mean the impact you will have on those voting machines...

“If ever a time should come, when vain and aspiring men shall possess the highest seats in Government, our country will stand in need of its experienced patriots to prevent its ruin.”

Stop trying to recruit

liberty loving individuals to your collectivist political party. Do you not get it yet? The revolution is taking over the GOP so we can destroy it and people can run as individuals just as Washington promoted. The Dem party is next.

Liberty is Liberty

Stop down voting fellow rEVOL activist this should be a place of discourse and you wonder why the hits on DailyPaul.com take a nosedive and has trouble funding itself after election cycles. Liberty is Liberty. Ron Paul is not the end all be all but I’m still writing Ron Paul in. That’s my personal chose. There are those who may think differently and would rather take a 2 pronged approach by also pushing Gary Johnson. It’s OKAY because we are ALL fighting for the same thing and that is FREEDOM. Those that want to bash Johnson on substance and his own contradictions I support you because this type of critical thinking and questioning is what is needed in the Liberty movement to keep it 100 but this should be used with all candidates not just Gary Johnson better yet we need to look at ourselves first critically to remove our own individual and collective biases. We should really look at Rand critically and even Ron Paul himself. No one should get a free pass. So you all have a chose go down the same path as the Tea Party or really stand for something. Don’t talk about it do it. Don’t say I’m only for Ron Paul because he could die tomorrow say you’re for FREEDOM. I ask people the same question all the time are you here for Ron Paul or are you here for what he represents. Let’s see if DP subscribers are just a quote “cult” of semi-awakened semi-collectivist individuals that just talk shit about Liberty all day online or are we true FREEDOM fighters that actually put in work.

Also for when or if individuals attempt to childlessly attack me or down vote me instead of have true dialogue to actually do something positive for the Liberty movement after this replay note work I’ve done for the liberty movement within the few short months of joining the rEVOLution after being a political atheist. I’m a recently elected committeeman and will be running for city council in the next election, have started a Young Republican Party in my County 270 strong in an urban Democratic stronghold, created 35+ conservative business coalition that now accepts the GOLD dinar as a means of exchange parallel with the dollar, we do voter registration drives every month (300+ registrations and counting I got 3 this morning from random strangers on my way to work) and we do community workshops every month. Last month we did an Austrian economics workshop and had 50 attendees. A good portion of them are reformed quote “Lefties” which you have so much disdain for. I should have told them NO we don’t want you to enlighten yourself and become Libertarians. Stay liberal so I can complain all day and feel good about myself on DailyPaul.com instead of doing something actually productive for society in my community.

It would be better if you didn’t respond to me until you have gotten every household in a 2 block radius of your residence registered to vote and have attended at least 1 city council meeting this week. When you can at least just do those at a minimum for the liberty movement respond to me so we can have a discussion about how we can work together to better get people involved in the rEVOLution.

Missing the point

People ... it is called the Daily Paul for a reason and last I checked Ron Paul had a little (r) after his name in the house.

This site is not called the Daily Johnson

I'm still thinking about Tampa and that is where we all should be

Let me make this as plain as I can

If Dr. Paul is not nominated ... We Lose , Liberty Loses.

Obama , Romney ( 2 sides of the same coin )

We have 30 days left to save the Republic.

... I know not what course others may take; but as for me,
give me liberty or give me death!

Life is a sexually transmitted disease with a 100% fatality rate.
Don't Give me Liberty, I'll get up and get it myself!

There are currently 5...

Yesterday, I saw two posts featuring Peter Schiff, and one had Tom Woods.
