Counter-Thread to "The Libertarian Party is a total failure and"Submitted by dwalters on Sun, 07/29/2012 - 15:59
If you HAVEN'T yet joined your local Republican Party, there is nothing you can do to affect the election this year by working within the party. All important party business has been completed for the year - delegates chosen, state platforms approved, etc.
If you want to poke a stick in the Establishment's eye, joining the Libertarian Party for the meantime is a good thing to do to get them livid.
In the off chance the Libertarian candidate wins, you would be in a MAJOR party with liberty minded people already at the helm. If the LP candidate doesn't win, you can always switch parties later. No harm, no foul.
Do you really want to spend the rest of the year listening to neo-cons? If Romney wins, we will be FORCED to take over and change the Republican Party. If the LP candidate wins, the GOP can kiss our @ss. The membership of the LP would skyrocket, and the Establishment GOP would be revealed for the big government, big war, big budget people they really are.
Here's the website: http://www.lp.org/
Long-term strategy is not affected by this. If you are already a member of the Republican Party, you are not eligible, but those that haven't yet gotten involved in taking over the local GOP, you still have options to actively promote liberty for the remainder of this election cycle.
It will give us a reason to have some sign waves during the warm months. There were a couple times during the winter season where we all about froze to death here in Arkansas!
