Rev. Jackson Leads Rally Calling For Assault Weapons Ban

CHICAGO (CBS) – The Rev. Jesse Jackson led a group of nearly 100 people who picketed outside of a River North movie theater on Saturday, calling for a ban on the sale and possession of assault weapons.

He said that the courts have ruled that individuals can carry handguns and hunters can have their rifles. But he said the assault weapon was not envisioned by the framers of the U.S. Constitution and is good for little except to inflict mass casualties of the type that occurred July 20 in Aurora, Colo.

Rev. Jackson called assault weapons instruments of domestic terrorism.

I am starting to question the

truthfulness of the Colorado shooting. Don't get me wrong, I am not a conspiracy theorist by a long shot. I just believe in evidence before conclusion. Every movie theater is loaded with security cameras, both inside and out. Not ONE PEEP from the MSM about the footage those cameras which are "supposed to be there for our safety" caught. Until I see the footage, I remain skeptical, and it seems like this is just a propaganda tour. Why even try to come up with an explanation when we can just watch the darn video? It is so simple, yet many if not most Americans over look the damn video footage.

Who has that footage anyway?

Who has that footage anyway? why dont people ever use commonsense? there was a 2nd canister thrown on the opposite aisle, but they want everyone to forget that or the fact he was on the phone with somebody. lmao its amazing man!

Second gas mask on the other side of the theater, too.

I had this really disturbing dream years ago. I dreamed I was talking to a brother back east, and we had a nice chat but when I hung up I "knew" the way you do in dreams, that it was not really my brother, that the whole east coast had been blown up and there was this insane effort to keep anyone from finding out. I kinda feel like I'm living in that dream these days.

Man that's deep! Idk how this is all gonna end man, but I know one thing, freedom will prevail! I just know it. Weather it takes 50 years or even 100, we're going to win. They will be a lot of death though, maybe even us.

The framers envisioned the

The framers envisioned the populace having equal arms as the government. Assault weapons are the least of what the people should be allowed to have.

No kidding.

I want something out of area 51, but I'd settle for a nice Blackhawk helicopter.

The catch is...

... they aren't "assault weapons" at all. We lost the right to assault weapons in 1986 with the Hughes Amendment. Now they are coming after plain old semi-auto rifles.

Going strictly by scripture would Jesus condone self defense?

Going strictly by scripture would Jesus condone self defense. Would he encourage you to carry a firearm. How would he deal with currency debasers ( The Federal Reserve).

Can a Christian help a brother out with this dilemma?

[Jesus] said to them, "But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one..." The disciples said, "See, Lord, here are two swords." "That is enough," he replied.

Luke 22:36,38

"Jesus said... ‘all who live by the sword will die by the sword.'”

Luke 22:51

"Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword."

Matthew 10:34

[Jesus] made a whip out of cords, and drove all from the temple area, both sheep and cattle; he scattered the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables.

John 2:15

My thoughts, only.

In short - yes and no.

Regarding the disciples and swords, it was enough to fulfill prophecy (to number Christ with the transgressors).

Regarding him coming to bring the sword, this was in light of the message being as divisive as it has been. Christianity has always taught peace, but rarely left such in its wake when interacting with those outside the faith.

Regarding driving the money changers from the temple, he did exactly that. He didn't corner and whip them, he chased them out.

Look to the testimony of the earliest church for your answer - for about 300 years after Christ, the faithful were fearless and pacifist. They went to their deaths courageously and singing hymns as well as forgiving those committing the offense.

I don't believe this means they sought their deaths or did not try to avoid them at all (hence underground meetings, house churches, and some of the general secrecy of the early church under persecution), but when it came down to it, there was no violent resistance.

I couple this with the teaching of Gandhi and MLK. Active non-compliance. If you have ever read Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time series, consider the Way of the Leaf practiced by the Tuatha'an - no seeking out of death, but an absolute refusal to do/return violence.

Carrying a gun is fine (considering getting one myself), and will serve beautifully as a deterrent. Going beyond that, though, I'm unsure how closely you're following the will of the King. Remember, the only sure thing about this life is that it ends, and this world is not our home - it's merely a testing ground and refining flame.

Take care.

I will be running a special sale for DPers that mention this site – 5% off all so-called “assault weapons”. ;-)

The weapons used by the American Revolutionaries were the equal of the weapons used by the British and the Hessians. They were 'assault' weapons.

Rev. Jackson you should

Rev. Jackson you should listen to Ice-T, because you're a moron! Do you really want to be the only person without a gun, when everybody else has one? there trying to trick everyone by saying we're not talking handguns or rifles, but just automatic weapons! yeah thats how it starts... dont fall for it ya'll
