Why Ron Paul and Libertarian Ideals Are Here to Stay

"Libertarians are as far from the right wing, as they are from the left. The distinction is important because the two philosophies actually yield very different results despite their apparent similarities. Libertarian reasons for rejecting Republican candidates will become much clearer if the difference is established."

What about if you are all locked up in Fema camps by 2016?

DHS tenders for another 750 million rounds.

"In the end, more than they wanted freedom, they wanted security. They wanted a comfortable life, and they lost it all -- security, comfort, and freedom. When ... the freedom they wished for was freedom from responsibility, then Athens ceased to be free."

That depends on us.

There have been many political surges throughout American political history. Most of them died out and because of it we have two generic, not-so-different national parties who advance the same agenda. If we're going to change that, we're going to have to fight for it every step of the way. We can't sit around and hope Neocons will eventually die off and we'll be the future. Here's to show that Neocons come in all shapes, sizes, and AGES.

Because Ron Paul brought and

Because Ron Paul brought and does the message freedom is why the Daily Paul must test time bearing its name. No website name change.

Retaining the name should provoke people to focus on what the message Ron brought and use him as a reference. As long as enough DPers continue to debate and behave intelligently and if life becomes more stressful, newcomers to freedom who happen onto this website can probably will feel relieved to find people who are how they are and because of that discovery will act for freedom sooner than if the Daily Paul had a name change, than if the Daily Paul didn't exist.

Because of this website, at the least there is someone to reference who performed freedom in Congress and -- and -- opportunity to watch, to learn, how the people who support that person are, which is to undertake comprehending freedom. (Intrinsically hope is instilled in the newcomer.) In a way, retaining the name contains the message, the prevention of it slipping away or being weakened. What could reinforce the message is a section of RP's speeches in text or video, or both, and excerpts of his books or his books in whole to read, download and/or buy. I understand there's a probability that most people would just read or download content than buy it, but in this area or next to the download button there could be a Chip-In button and explanation about how this site is funded.

Anyway, the Daily Paul today and the Daily Paul tomorrow, always.

left and right is a textbook false dilema

False Dilema:

"...a type of logical fallacy that involves a situation in which only two alternatives are considered, when in fact there is at least one additional option."

The conservative and liberal world views are the only acceptable bounds of discussion, and as the Doctor points out, the policies always remain the same. They end up in the same place.

Left and Right is completely beside the point, what the REAL issue is, is government control of our lives. Do you want it right flavored or left flavored? The right increases it's power then the left increases their power in their own respective interests.

What's SO great about Ron Paul's emergence into the debates ( as limited as it was ) was that it revealed on national television that there is another way of thinking, outside of the left right paradigm. He wasn't able to touch everyone...mostly those with eyes closed. BUT, the fires of liberty have been ignited in our hearts and I believe the truth will win out in the end. Especially because our country was founded on these ideas, though we have drifted, they are intrinsic to our history and our people. There is a sleeping giant, wonderful potential in America that still has yet to be seen, and we're the ones who can take it back! :D

screw Left Vs Right wings.

As far as im concerned you either for More Government Regulation or believe in The Free Market! Government Vs. The People, you tell me which is right and which is wrong.

Was thinking of how to explain Libertarianism to others

And the line as far from the left as it is from the right sums it up.

Lord Acton, Lord Chief Justice of England, 1875 - "The issue which has swept down the centuries and which will have to be fought sooner or later is the People v. The Banks."

It's called the RE-AWAKENING of our FOUNDING FATHERS &

their wonderful document, our United States Constitution!

On the other hand

On the other hand, some people are fighting tooth and nail against Ron Paul and libertarian (sane) ideals.

Case in point (caution: lies and extreme dirty politics):

You bet it is!!

Now we need more than ever before, as the hand of tyranny tries to force its jackboot down every American's throat.

When I say the Federal Reserve is finished, I mean its collapse is guaranteed.

Dig-in Time's Here

Great article. Yes Libertarianism is here to stay --if-- we dig in at the local levels, consolidate our gains and encourage more Libertarians to become Precinct Delegates. There are three things needed to co-opt a political party -- DELEGATES -- DELEGATES -- DELEGATES -- Got that? -- DELEGATES--

It only takes one to KEEP AMERICANS FREE. Know your duties & rights as a juror. Stop the unconstitutional conviction of innocents in federal custody. The Fully Informed Jury CALL 1-800-TEL-JURY www.fija.org IMMEDIATELY if not sooner. It's that important.

Nice find...great article!

Nice find...great article! Did you make note of the comment from Tisha? It gave me hope that there are still those left whom Ron Paul's message can sway and bring into the fold, and I am reminded of the Good Doctor encouraging us to never stop talking for they cannot unhear what you have spoken aloud...

If my need to be RIGHT is greater than my desire for TRUTH, then I will not recognize it when it arrives ~ Libertybelle

I don't mind down votes as long as there is an explanation - I'm a perpetual student.

It's those GJ supporters!

Excellent article, btw. :)

Excellent article, btw. :)

I'm guessing it was how you

I'm guessing it was how you titled this. Most here probably believe they already understand libertarian ideas and don't need it explained. Maybe if you change it to the title of the actual article you may get a better reception?

Nail On Head

...but the problem is that *many* here do not understand libertarian principles and have not read much nor think they need to because (a) they only recently *became* libertarians for their own purposes and (b) shhhh...they aren't *really* libertarians.

And, then throw in the many recent changes in the Libertarian Party. LOL...economics hardly even figures in. Why? In my opinion because it isn't about the *spoilers* or O'Bama or Romney at all. These folks are just props. Easiest thing in the world is to control an ex-governor or two...after "serving" in that capacity, they are way beholden to lotsa folks. They know their marching orders.

So at the end of the day, you'd all be better off studying two octopuses ie Koch Bros and Soros. It's just the long planning and implementing of power struggles that will result in more $$$/power for those two branches of the "owned" government. They just put in the next dictator. And, the funny thing is that at the end of the day....Soros and Koch are on the same team...just who will make the most $$.

We have our little diversions here...Gilbert...Dr. K...Gary...Adam, etc. and those who push the diversions because (a) they fell for the ploys or (b) they are here to push an agenda. The agenda is to cordon off those who might resist intellectually the obvious smoke screen.

Perhaps that is WHY Dr. Paul finally resolved that it is at the local and state levels where the intellectual revolution which is our only hope can be best fought. And, because there are like-minded RP Republicans in place, the Republican Party is the only way to make inroads and hold off the really bad stuff in order for more time to be bought for people to wake up.

Someday (if we still have freedom of the press at all) the books will be written about how the Ron Paul Intellectual Revolution was sabotaged...from within and without. Even given that...we will win because good will always overcome evil.

Looks like you were right. Thanks.
