Going through my change at Sonic a few weeks ago...

I found a 1964 U.S. quarter! I wonder who let go of that? Needless to say I put that in with my small collection of silver coins. I hadn't seen one of those in circulation for decades.

Wow that's awesome! I always

Wow that's awesome! I always search for those whenever I get change from the grocery store or somewhere, but to no avail. I always though seem to find the 1965 quarters, a year after the coinage act.

Interesting Nazi Silver Coins Have a Bald Eagle (?) On Them

I think it's a bald eagle but, at the very least, it's a bird. Birds (at least in this country) are used to symbolize freedom ("free as a bird"). I wonder if that was the meaning in Nazi Germany as well. It sure would be ironic.

German War Eagle. It's a

German War Eagle. It's a historic German symbol that predates the Nazis. The Nazis kept everything that was traditionally German, just added the Swastika to it.

I've got a couple German coins in my silver collection

It's actually a lot of fun to collect small 40-65-90% silver dimes/pennies/pfennigs etc as a way to learn and connect with history.

Defeat the panda-industrial complex

I am dusk icon. anagram me.

yep

I have quite a few although if I had it to do over again I probably would have stuck with just walking liberties and silver dollars before 1964. I know some say from 64 and back but I would buy before 64. I probably have a few hundred dollars worth of coins like that. Why, do you have any questions you need answered?

Well I would buy some more

Well I would buy some more not only for their silver content, but for historical coin collection. I was wondering if they are more expensive than the U.S. 90% junk coins for the same amount, but it looks like they are around the same price for the same amount.

How Ironic

A bunch of crazy Nazis who had not regard for even the tinniest bit of natural rights, had a currency 100 times sounder then ours.

It is an enormous simplification to speak of the American mind. Every American has his own mind.

Sorry but

Nazi's didn't finance and instigate the Bolshevik revolution
Nazi's didn't create the Federal Reserve
Nazi's didn't commit the Danzig or Katyn massacres
Who declared war on Germany in 1933
Nazi's didn't create Israel
Nazi's aren't committing the wars in the Middle East.
Nazi's aren't bring communism/Bolshevism to the world.

I could carry on all day.

Your use of the word Nazi is as empty as the label Anti-Semite.

Yes I disagree when I hear

Yes I disagree when I hear people in the Ron Paul movement, even people like Celente and others that we are turning into a Fascist state. In fact, our policies are bend on Internationalism, which is Bolshevik by nature, not the Nationalism that the Italians and Germans were in WWII. Globel government has always been a Marxist/Bolshevik ideal since Marx, who wanted a borderless, socialist, state controlled society.

Yes though I am not a Nazi, I

Yes though I am not a Nazi, I am not a biased historian either. The Nazi's have been demonized more because of the holocaust and the few good polices they did have been overshadowed because of it. The Autobahn wouldn't have existed because of them, first jet fighter, first space rockets, helicopter, etc. Alot of our technology we have today we took from them in WWII. Even though this post was about silver coins that were in circulation during the Third Reich, closed minded ignorance to WWII history is unwelcomed.

yep, even they believed in

yep, even they believed in sound money. I think I read somewhere that Hitler put Germany on a silver standard to get Germany's economy booming again.

He

reverted to bartering to by pass international boycotts.

Yes that's correct, Germany

Yes that's correct, Germany was disarmed, large amounts of their territory and industrial base were taken away by the Allies from WWI.

+1 for correct history

Yes

I have some 5 Reichsmark and 2 Reichsmark (about 64% silver) which I picked up a few years back. They are not the best choice for bullion, but I collect TR, so they were relevant to my interests. I had not really thought about it, but I guess they could also make interesting currency in a SHTF scenario.

I got a few too. Just for

I got a few too. Just for variety and collection. It is after all 90% silver which is now a very rare metal.
