What made you Love the good doctor?

What made you Love the good doctor?

For me it was his anti-war speech on the House floor that I saw on Alex Jones's prisonplanet site early spring 2007.
Dr. Paul spoke from heart and it made my eyes watery...he will always be 'my president' no matter what happens.

His integrity, intelligence,

His integrity, intelligence, values, speaking the truth, trying to do the right things.

He is the only,,,

...genuine politician I have known thus far in my lifetime. He sees and speaks the truth without fear.

I saw compassion in his eyes!...

I approach politics with a psychological perspective, The current candidates and political bodies and executive branches of the US reek with psychopaths and megalomaniacs vying for power, and they have this hate in their eyes, every one of them, and they all look empty, they have nothing inside them, and they are so eager to slaughter human beings in other parts of the world with our military, it's sickening, they have no conscience at all, When I saw Ron Paul, I actually saw a human being speaking common sense, I never saw someone explain so devotionally the concept of individual liberty since JFK or MLK. Since then I never faltered or failed in any regard to this idea, as powerful as his consistency was towards the constitution, his devotion to the constitution is just as legendary, fuck that is a rarity in the political establishment, you won't find someone like that often, because those who lack the conscience will strive for power, he's just a honest guy who wants the United States returned to its true state

Anti-politics before this year. (shamefully speaking)

Despite not really caring about politics in general, I saw myself more aligned with republicans. Got out of the service, and noticed a lot of commotion about the constantly changing republican presidential candidate front-runner. It was someone new it seemed weekly sometimes more than once in a week. Guy at work (always bored me to death talking politics) mentioned a congressman who wanted to close bases overseas, bring the troops home, and put national guard on our borders. Sparked my curiosity because this seemed like a brilliant idea, from a politician. I later came to find out this guy was running for president. Cool, I thought! Not cool, "crazy" and "unelectable" said Fox News and others. Too bad, I thought. Decided to research candidates. Douchebags, Liars, politicians, guys who gave that brown nosing head up someone's ass vibe. No one really sat well with me. I decided I'd humor this Ron Paul fellow. Googled Ron Paul. Saw link to some dailypaul website. First thing I see is excitement, "money bombs", encouragement, activism, shocking stories that I'd never heard in the MSM. o_O Wow, I thought. Crazy people throwing their hard earned money at a crooked politician. Have at it. Came across a link "Ron Paul - Predictions in Due Time". O_O "This man is psychic!!" "How did he KNOW!?" It was a rough path down the rabbit hole from there on out. I spent a solid week trying to regurgitate the red pill I accidentally took somewhere along the way. I don't remember how the quote goes, but "Once you understand, it is your duty to act." So, here I still am.

God Bless Ron Paul
LOve the R3volution

The fact he does not cave into the status quo.

Dr. Paul stands his ground no matter how unpopular his views may be to the majority. God Bless Dr. Paul!

While I have had the highest respect for Dr. Paul's positions

for many years, when he announced his presidential bid in 2007 I said to myself, "Oh boy, here we go again. Another hopeless Don Quixote type campaign that nobody will get excited about."

I had issues with Paul's presentation: an often whiny, scratchy voice, a way-too-meek body language that squeaked submissiveness, his old age and his pencil neck with a head that bobbled around like a rag doll's when it's shaken.

I had seen plenty of him in action in 1988, cringing over and over at his weak performances. I figured I'd have to support him again but was not looking forward to it.

Then I discovered YouTube and watched video after video showing the enormously powerful feelings of thousands of brand-new Ron Paul supporters who watched him in those early debates and were stunned that someone, a politician and Republican no less, was finally making sense and had such courage of his convictions that he was willing to tell the truth on the debate dais surrounded by neoconservative scoffers. I viewed footage of marches and demonstrations, sign waving, huge turnouts unlike any politician was receiving at the time (although Obama approached it later with his hope and change campaign). That's when I began to get excited about Ron Paul's potential.

It was the outpouring of love of others less jaded that made Ron Paul a must-follow beacon for me. Many of those others have no doubt frequented Daily Paul as I have over the past five years, so thank you! It is to you that I owe my new-found appreciation (OK, love) for Ron Paul.

New Hampshire and Ecuador.

Difficult to answer for some

For those of us whose respect and admiration for Ron and Carol predates his 2007 campaign for President, pinpointing exactly "what" or "when" is, for me anyway, very difficult.

I think I've mentioned this before here on the DP. For some of us (longtime Lp'ers and Cp'ers) he's been a regular fixture in our circle and at our annual events for so long that he's just Ron.

When I see Ron and Carol I don't see what the newcomers and youngsters see (though I wish I did), it's more like that Aunt and Uncle that you never see but at family reunions every couple of years. Ron and Carol are like family to Libertarians and Constitutionalists.

RON PAUL HAS COURAGE TO GO WITH HIS CONVICTIONS!

He is a man of honor. . .

What REALLY struck me is how honorable and serious Ron Paul is to his oath of office. . .his determination to follow and protect the U.S. Constitution from enemies, foreign and domestic - no matter what.

When EVERYONE else follows/ed the herd and violated our Constitution. . .RON PAUL was willing to speak up and STAND ALONE to be faithful to his oath and the Founding Fathers who wrote our Constitution. Doing what was right was/is more important to him than what others say or think about him.

He speaks the truth, is a man of genuinely good character, follows his heart and principles, has more courage than any politician on the hill (although Kucinich does have his back - a lot) and has the conviction to stand up for it.

Direct - to the point - will look you in the eyes.

Not many men/women like that anymore.

These are but a few of the reasons I greatly admire Ron Paul.

The price of freedom is eternal vigilance. ~Thomas Jefferson

“It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie...the greatest enemy of the State.” ~Joseph Goebbels

Watching Jon Stewart one night

Watching Jon Stewart one night when DR. Paul was on in 2007. I said to myself "hey there's that goofy Ross Perot guy from the debate". I didn't understand allot of what he was saying. Toward the end of the interview Jon asked him what he considers himself and Ron Responded "A Constitutionalist". He then explained the Government doesn't have to power to do most of the stuff it does.

I'd never heard of a Constitutionalist before but a light was turned on in my NeoCon heart. I Googled it and loved what I read. I then Goggled Ron Paul. I couldn't believe what I read. I couldn't believe the our elections offered us such trash to choose from when a man like this out there. I told myself "This can't be correct, he must have some serious dirt". I researched and researched and couldn't find anything. I listened more and read more and never looked back.

In 2008 I said that if he was elected that I would probably cry uncontrollably knowing that our Country is not broken beyond repair and I say the same in 2012 and I'm a Man's Man and don't cry. Still hoping for the Miracle.

Philosopher statesman

What initially caught my eye about the good doctor was his knowledge of history. Were I began to hope was the wisdom he drew from it. I was bought and sold at the man's integrity and moral compass.

I have always thought the actions of men the best interpreters of their thoughts.
John Locke

When Chris "the prick" Wallace asked Dr. Paul

if he would take his marching orders from Al Qaeda and Ron said:
"NO! I take my marching orders from the Constitution!"

I've been in love ever since, and will accept NO substitutes.

Honesty

Honesty. He addresses things directly and doesnt speak politician. Its hard enough to find an honest person today, let alone an honest elected person.
I may not agree with everything he says, but I darned well know what I am getting when I vote for him. With most other people, you simply have to hope they do what they say they will.

To climb the mountain, you must believe you can.

Debate with Guiliani then the" Stop Dreaming" vid on youtube

I was planning on voting for Guiliani in the last primary but that debate opened my eyes. The honesty and clarity Ron presented was almost shocking.I thought,"where did this guy come from?"Then the "Stop Dreaming "and "Ron Paul courageously speaks the truth" videos convinced me to really support him and try to convince friends and family to support him.I'll never forget the beginning of "Stop Dreaming"when they ask Ron if he would work to phase out the IRS and his answer was "Immediately!"Remember that line "You had me at hello" from the movie Jerry Maguire?Ron Paul had me at "Immediately!"lol

debate with guiliani

blew the lid off for me.

"who is this guy telling the truth," i wondered

mind you i was a liberal democrat at the time, only watching the debates because i wanted to get a good laugh at the next round republicans who wanted to ruin the country.

thats when i discovered conservatism and learned economics and liberty, and realized the neocons highjacked the party some time ago and it was worth fighting to get it back.

Some Canadian Poet who liked to drink beer and feed pidgeons

This guy used to come to the DP and he would write profound poems about love and liberty. He was full of sincere passion for Ron Paul. The poet even became a Mod for awhile, he could not do enough it seemed. He was everyone cheerleader, and he would write kind words to everyone, and he was always making posts, top posts mind you, about Ron Paul. I must have read a months worth of posts from that poet over the years if we lined them up on a time scale 24/7. The posts touched my heart, and my spirit, and I thought, if this beautiful candadian poet can put so much LOVE into Ron Paul and the rEVOLution, maybe I should too?

So I opened my heart and did what I could as an American, and joined the GOP and took a committee seat, hoping my fine brave, wonderful Canadian Poet would finally see me as being as strong for love and liberty as he.

Alas. the poet developed a spilt personality and keep a toe in the door of the Ron Paul camp while making top posts and waxing love for a new man, GJ.

I guess it's just my luck?

Mmmm. Good doctor love.

LOL. Sorry I couldn't help it. Just sounded funny to me.

When I saw Dr Paul's record is when I threw my support behind him. An honest politician, he's a walking oxymoron. I didn't think there was such a thing as an honest politician.

For me, it was 2 things...

First thing that I noticed in the very first speech I heard was LOGIC!! I'd never heard that from a politician before...

Second thing that was the game winner for me...HE'S NOT A LAWYER!!!

Gee...no wonder he makes sense.

"The liberties of a people never were, nor ever will be, secure, when the transactions of their rulers may be concealed from them." - Patrick Henry

I have supported him since 1987

but my fanaticism for him began when watching his speeches during the 2008 campaign, and realizing just how encyclopaedic his knowledge of history, politics, and economics really is.

Also, is there anyone in public life who has shown more honesty and courage? I think not.

His complete honesty

and courage in speaking the truth, his intelligence, his ability to explain the issues and logical solutions. He still stands head and shoulders above them all. We are honored to share this time in history with a man such as Ron Paul.

I could understand him

I understood him when he spoke. He spoke simply and clearly. And FINALLY I could understand what all of the different issues were about, about war and civil liberties and so forth and so on. He was my political teacher.

First time...

I saw Dr. Paul was in the movie Zeitgeist One when the section on fractional reserve banking came on. When he started explaining what the Fed was, how it operates, and how it came into existence, I became obsessed and spent the next week studying the Fed and watching Ron Paul videos; hooked ever since.
