Better than Walk Out, Turn Our Backs if Paul Not Given Chance to be Nominated
Submitted by James_Madison_Lives on Sat, 08/04/2012 - 19:51Grabbing this jump ball from another post asking "Why not walk out" if Paul denied chance to be nominated, I think a better idea. Please debate.
Why not turn our backs and cross our arms, with a sign on our backs with the pertinent rule, "Rule (whatever - whichever rule best describes Paul's right to be nominated?)
The media will not be able to help but show the turned backs if they want any pan shots of the floor at all, which forces the talkingheads to comment. Now it's a buzz and local news camera crews from across the country (not as tightly controlled as national) are looking for RP delegates to buttonhole and ask what it's all about.
I was almost with the idea of walking out, but was persuaded by commenters that RNC would indeed like nothing better. Problem solved. Lock the doors.
By using the right we have earned to be on that floor creatively, we become the news.
We must present them with something which throws them off balance. Maybe others will join. The cameras can't miss it, and as this video shows, something about a turned back makes tyrants see red. If they start dragging us out the onus is on them, exposing the ugly police state the GOP has become.

I don't think that would be helpful - it would just seem like
the NeoCons are super patriotic. The media would use it out of context.
And also I think it may actually be a tad disrespectful to be sporting Flag clothing. The flag is the flag. If anything bring a black flag to wave when Romney does his speech to signify that the place is going to hell in a handbasket and that RNC and DNC are in co-hoots to bring us all down to third world status.
I recommend for those of you who have the cahunas to stand there among the zombies who will be giving you the hairy eyeball, just turn your back. turn around.

I dunno, watch the quickest cut to a commercial you have ever seen (replying to comment below.) Turning our backs has the advantage of being persistent and nothing they can do about, unless they want to start dragging us out Chicago '68 style.
Goes without saying perhaps the most important thing is to have our ducks lined up -talking points, press releases, articles, videos - ready to blast everywhere the second the media starts asking questions. It won't be a national reporter, they are controlled robots. It will be some NBC affiliate from Podunk who hasn't heard that you aren't supposed to talk about Ron Paul.

they can edit OUT turned backs. Only a walkout will be a big enough deal that the media will have to report it, especially if followed by a press conference and formal press release.

Not just Internet. Made TV news networks for days, google it. The media doesn't need to "cover it." It will be apparent in every pan shot of the floor, which they need unless they want the most boring convention coverage in history, podium only.
The point is we really have to do something or we help legitimize the corrupt Romney coronation. Walking out is exactly what they want us to do.

i would agree that making the news at convention is a good idea. just dont think the turning back will get there.
Maybe not, but Daily Show will and then the print media will
pick up on it from delegates video and then TV. That is what they do now. They report what the chatter is on facebook and twitter instead of being journalists. They are lazy and won't report on stuff until it's popular online. Sad and pathetic, but true.
