15 year old arrested for Facebook post!Submitted by RonOrBust2012 on Wed, 08/08/2012 - 13:44
Let me start off by saying that if I put this in the wrong place I apologize in advance. Earlier this week a 15 year old child was taken from his parent because of a comment he made in a Facebook conversation I am working on something that will go into more detail about who BJ is and, the posts that were made, what the charges are, comments for the family and more. First off let me start off by saying since the very first day that I met BJ he has always been polite and helpful kid. He was actually only one of four people that showed up when the moving day came, and he had other plans. His number one dream has always been to go into the Marines and protect his country, and serve people. He has never been in trouble in school or out. There are two supposed comments that were made, one was the initial post that caused the trouble and I'll be it not the smartest comment, like I said before he's 15. If we judged every person for stupid comments they made then 90% of my friends and I would all be in prison. The quote was from a conversation about how boring school was going to be for him because of the way the hours are scheduled 4 two hour classes. "If school is going to be so boring may I'll bring a gun to school ha! ha!" again not great choice, but meant as a joke to point out the absurd actions of others not intent as a threat to anyone, nothing more, nothing less then bad judgement. The second was from a previous post made from a quote from a movie he likes. Again if we should all be arrested from stupid quotes 90% of Facebook would be gone tomorrow. We've all said stupid things out of anger, out of joy, and out of sadness or just out of plain boredom. We all do it, no if ands or buts about it! I understand people have knee jerk reaction to events that unfold in life, and everyone wants to be safe and make better world for your kids, but sometimes out of that reaction we put everyone on slippery slopes which are much harder to fix once they begin. Pre-crime is not a crime, if it was all of us are criminals every single one of us. “I’m going to party so hard tonight” should get someone put in jail for driving drunk even if you are not driving. “I’m going to pull my hair out, my kids are driving me nuts” should get people arrested for abuse even though all that the parent needed was spa day. Or how about this “That car is so bad ass! I’d steal it just for the test drive” should this get you arrested for stealing a car. I’ll be posting a few links coming, for people to follow this story over the next few days, weeks, and months. Until then please keep them in your thoughts and prayers and if anyone wants to know what they can do to help I'll be posting links to that as well coming up. Remember this could be anyone of our kids and it definitely is the first Amendment of our Constitution guarantees free speech, it doesn't specify any certain speech, and it doesn't say you have free speech if or up until. It doesn't just guarantee favorable speech, but it's there to protect unfavorable speech from the over reach of the government or others.
