IDEAS: For CHEAP Billboards For President Paul In Tampa

Every hotel within 100 mile of Tampa is booked solid. Most of the wealthy republicans will NOT be staying in down-town Tampa, they will be staying at the Vinoy in DT St. Pete or the Don CeSar on St. Pete Beach or Innisbrook golf or Saddlebrook. There are miles & miles of highways connecting all.

Spray paint "President Ron Paul" on the grassy embankments of overpasses that cross over the interstates.(the mowers will cut them down within a week, so no permanent damage is done)

Spell out Ron Paul for President using plastic drinking cups stuffed into the chain-link fencing in the bike paths that cross over I-275 in Tampa and St. Petersburg.

Go to the beaches in front of the hotels and write President Paul in the sand where people walk along the beach or build a gigantic sand sculpture of block letter President Paul on the beach (in front of all the beach hotels in St. Pete & Clearwater and call all the press to come out and take pictures of it and do interviews.

Get a raft floatilla and join them together to spell out President Paul 2012 ! Anchor it in Tampa bay, moving it around every couple of days. Most of the aircraft landing in and near Tampa International airport steeply bank the planes across the bay when positioning for a landing, and passengers can't help but to look out the windows to enjoy the view of the water below. That would be a lot of exposure to arriving delegates and party goers. Illuminate the raft floatilla for arriving and departing night flights.

Of course decorated cars everywhere might attract press attention too.

Signs and activity near the local news stations like Fox 13 on Kennedy Blvd, Univision on Hillsborough ave, etc The radio stations near the Gandy bridge might catch the eye of news crew vans as they arrive & leave their stations for other assignments. This is not a complete list but I could find it if others can do the 'tagging'. Call the radio stations to be interviewed or participate in the discussions, 970 WFLA, 1340 AM, 820 AM

Any other Ideas?

Flotilla Maybe Not a Good Idea

You might get shot by one of the boats with machine guns mounted to them. Security isn't a joke in Tampa, even now, a week out from the convention. There are barbed wire gates surrounding buildings near the convention center. It looks like Nazi Germany in some parts of Downtown Tampa.

No Need to Freak Out, Dealing w the Police, USE Common Sense

The US Military will be playing their war games in Hillsborough bay between The convention and the MacDill airforce base south of the convention.
Homeland security is assigned to protect Federal property from vandals, like the Federal courthouse, US Post Office , Social Security, etc, so just steer avoid passing through those areas.

Ambulances need access to Tampa General Hospital, and ONLY the roads in Down Town Tampa lead to the hospital, so yes, barb-wire. A road may be closed to vehicles, but might still be accessed on foot.

The Sheriffs will be patrolling the waterways within their jurisdictions. Tampa Bay straddles three different counties.

Tampa Police will be within the city's limits.

The US Coast Guard will have their hands full with drownings, rip tides and stranded & lost boaters.

The police only want things to go smoothly & everyone to be safe. They KNOW the whole country is watching via video cameras and Tourism is our bread & butter, so they don't want a bad image.

Don't freak out, speak to the police like a respectful human being and they should respond like a respectful human being. Smile! Be respectful. Do what Doctor Paul would do in the same situation.

There IS a strategy to the barb wire. Occupy has openly announced they do not plan to follow 'the rules' so how do you expect security to respond?

It would be wise to study a Convention map of downtown Tampa so you don't get caught in traffic jams or innocently swept up with Occupiers.

PLEASE Decorate Your cars! Whether you are going to Tampa or Not

~and I hope Someone will use someone else's suggestion about Romney vs Obama and Paul vs Obama POLL numbers.

Because the Press will curious & want to ask you why you haven't united with the party under Romney. When they broadcast their story, YOUR POLL STATS will reach the PUBLIC on the news!

Galatians 5:1
It is for FREEDOM that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

BUMP

I'm driving there with Ron Paul magnets all over my vehicle. I have a feeling I'll be stopped along the way on more than one occasion.

You might want to take put them in your car when you aren't

in it so they don't get stolen by Oromneybots. I HOPE EVERYONE WHO IS DRIVING decorates their cars as it will be cross country Liberty movement exposure and sure to attract attention! And it would be FUN to meet each other that way~!

Galatians 5:1

Well ...

Speaking of billboards, look at this:

The Ron Paul Laser will be in Tampa!

We will have Sinatra music and more. Make sure you come over and say hello. Stand with us. See you in Tampa. Spread the message.

Live Free or Die

Yes you need multiple ones all around the area.

Bump...

SO COOL!

I would search youtube almost daily for the latest videos and it annoyes me that so many good ones get by me. Even on the DP, threads move so fast, it is easy to miss posts. I hope this shows up outside of the television stations or is reflected off of a building in DT Tampa.. PLEASE...PLEASE...PLEASE?

Galatians 5:1
It is for FREEDOM that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

That song is fantastic

.

I'll be in Tampa on the 27th

wearing a Ron Paul T-shirt (along with shorts and shoes; not gonna gross anyone out) and holding a cardboard sign saying "Today is my 40th birthday. All I want is Liberty."

Bumping this great idea!

We need lots of this kind of creativity! We've done stuff like this in the past. Why should Tampa be different?

Making Ron Paul look cheap

won't impress anyone, except in convincing folks Ron Paul is associated with and represents cheap trash.

LittleWing's picture

A little harsh Granger

Cheap trash, really? I think it would show the Ron Paul grassroots passion, diversity and creativity! So much better than the cookie cutter campaign signs that will be provided for Romney's supporters.

If Wars Can Be Started by Lies, They Can Be Stopped By Truth.

Not at this point

You see, at this point, those delegates are spending THOUSANDS of dollars. We've been having chip-ins, and even the campaign reached out to the grassroots to help the delegates who could not afford to go, and even those who got the money for the tickets to go, and the hotels, most likely don't have funds for the dinners and seminars where the real bucks are.

Tampa is going ALL OUT, armed forces to the teeth, and even enlisted the waste management companies to sort trash and be on detail to remove and arrest anyone they catch putting anything that doesn't have a permit or license, or contract.

It's like McDonald's, or the dollar tree, might be where wee the people eat and shop, but Tampa is making this a Rodeo Drive, 5th Avenue event, where McDonalds and the dollar tree look out of place.

What we need to do is come up with something brilliant, a money bomb for something that has real class. We need a class act. We need to show that wee the people have money too, even if we don't.

Could be buy bus ads, or taking out ads in local Weekly Music sceene, or restaurant menus that go in hotel rooms, or USA Today full page ad. Could be ads with a local non-profit that has ad space.. Churchs, Catholic Church accepts ads, very inexpensive and many like Ron Paul, and many visitors from out of state are going to go to the Catholic Churchs for services.. Sunday 20 (Ron Paul's birthday) Put a Happy Birthday ad up (seperates church from state). Could be we buy pens for hotel rooms, Beach towels to bring on the beach.. even a large group of people standing on the beach and get an arial photo for the paper. Wine glasses that have Ron Paul delivered to popular bars and restaurants that will service clientel from the convention: Free glass with such and such wine.. Buy ads on milk cartons..

There's a number of things we can do that will impress... have a car wash at local gas stations, ads on cabs, :Free car wash for Ron Paul or Rand Paul, since he is speaking... Local TVs... not corporate, or the university... some places, zoos, parks, museums, will accept advertizing to support part of their programs.. Might want to support Neighborhood Wacth program or the Fire department, with an idea like (they have programs for people where they have signs and it could be sponsored for Ron paul, putting his name of it and allowing it to be displayed.) Hospitals.. have Ron pPul paper coffee cups for the waiting rooms, or Ron Paul bottled water for the ER....

If You have the money PONY UP

I've lived in Tampa for decades and they aren't "going all out" as your paranoia implies. I drove around the Tampa Bay Times forum, like 5 times in a row with a video camera last night filming the area and NO ONE pulled me over. We have Super Bowls here all the time, and Mac Dill Air Force Base, which is US Central Command for the US Armed Forces is across the Bay from the Forum. This isn't Kansas or NYC. THIS is FLORIDA where EVERYTHING happens ALL the time!

Galatians 5:1
It is for FREEDOM that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

It'e two more weeks

Maybe you should read what the Tampa Bay Host Committee has to say and the businesses of Tampa Bay have to say about what they are planning to do for the RNC in TWO WEEKS?

Could be Tampa Bay is a bunch of liars, but I doubt that.

@ Granger Care to clarify your back-handed slap?

LOL Rodeo Drive?? The RNC is blowing smoke up your butt to get big donors! There is no dress code requirement for any downtown restaurant, anywhere. We are vacationland; Theme parks, beaches, sand, sandals, beaches, wide-brimmed straw hats, sunglasses and colored drinks with paper umbrellas in them and BEACHES. It is common to see bikini's in the beach restaurants and many restaurants are open-air, outdoor-patio dining year round.

BTW, I know the best restaurants if anyone is interested in fresh seafood.

The Tampa police and the County Sheriffs office have been trolling here and occupy to anticipate any 'protestors' There won't be any from us, but Occupy is organizing a bunch of mic check crap and non-permitted marches and some permitted encampments, in some very dangerous neighborhoods I might add, but they are offering FREE FOOD if you want to google Occupy Tampa and save money on food lol. One of their camps is far from where the RNC will be. There are just a couple of "Freedom of Speech" protest zones set up, that won't be large enough for all of us, I can't remember at what intersections. The cops will be focusing on Occupy since they've already announced disruption plans. They will also have free bottled water for all of the Northerners who will be passing out from heat stroke left & right. I read somewhere that the Occupiers were gonna mic check restaurants held by Bain capitol, so you guys might want to avoid those restaurants as I think there are going to be long lines & chaos there.

No, The Ron Paul people are law enforcements LEAST problem. And they already put out a video stating that they KNOW their every move WILL BE recorded and they plan to cut off and remove disturbances and lane blockages quickly & restore order. They HAVE to, there is only ONE two lane road leading to Tampa General Hospital on Davis Island. All of Brorein St is going to be fenced off. But I GUARANTEE YOU, NO WAY does the city of Tampa want ANY of it's visitors thugged by the police, so don't expect to see that unless someone is blocking ambulance passage or hurting people. I think Occupy will be Occupying all of the Jail cells, as, this is how they effect change......lol.

But Rodeo Drive???? 5th Ave?? LOL! U are in for a surprise.

Galatians 5:1
It is for FREEDOM that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

You have never been to Rodeo Drive

Least you forget, CA is also a beach scene and causual, where you can find a bikini for thousands of dollars.

I am not giving Tampa a back hand slap. From the videos I saw, it looks to me that Tampa is very proud to be hosting the RNC and will be making an effort to make the visitors want to return again and again.

As for the police state we live in, the police state prides its self on nipping preceived problems in the bud, stealth, fast, and hard. Occupy and Tea Party have been grouped for this event, and Tampa Bay wants all those neocons to KNOW, they are safe, and will while it may be a beach city, it's going to shine for them.

If there is a delegate who will invite me to the RNC, I'll go to Tampa, otherwise, I have a committee meetings scheduled that Saturday, where I'm sure they have on the agenda issues they don't want me to vote NO on. Like Prop 32, which I asked to be placed on the agenda. And if I was going to Tampa, I'd be dropping bucks, so I hope Tampa will shine, after all, if beachy Rodeo Drive can shine, why can't Tampa Bay? It's not like Beverly Hills has a football team, zoo, or trained porpoise doing flips.

Who Cares if they don't *like* grassroot support? The Press will

Who Cares if they don't *like* grassroot support? The Press will EAT IT UP, especially since they are already chomping at the bit for some activity to report on. The earlier the Ron Paul people show up and out, the better chances of getting National TV Coverage. Anything that shows up before the RNC show begins will be pounced upon by a hungry press.

Rodeo drive is NOT Tampa. We live here for the unpretentious, laid-back, lifestyle. We WELCOME the enthusiastic, creative grassroots support for Ron Paul. It will be awesome to see!

The Rodeo Drive ppl have already bought their puppet.

Again, I was video taping freely outside the Forum while construction was going on inside. No Police bothered me nor did I even see any.

Galatians 5:1
It is for FREEDOM that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

Like I said, you don't know Rodeo Drive

I don't know Tampa.

have a great time.

All great ideas!

There is no doubt Ron Paul will be represented in many areas and in many ways and each should do what they can to help, but where money is lacking- creativity and passion will step up to the plate!

If Wars Can Be Started by Lies, They Can Be Stopped By Truth.

Oh, well. So much for the great flotilla idea!

No it's not

So long as you have all the required safety gear on board, aren't drinking nor blocking the channels, and stay in the shallow water outside the channel markers, people in dingys could orchestrate a synchronized swim so-to-speak, changing positions often around the Bay, Miles from the RNC but West of Tampa International Airport where the planes are landing. The Times Forum is miles from there, and that is where all the little war games will be played for the most part, but even a flotilla in the Intercoastal waterway would still get attention, and pose no threat to security.

Glad to hear it!

Great job! - Ideas for Tampa...

You did a great job coming up with those ideas. I could see them all vividly. And I have to tell you. They looked great and made quite an impression - especially that flotilla!

My only other suggestion: BEACH TOWELS.
If there are any Ron Paul beach towels left ($20), there would still be time to order. http://www.dailypaul.com/222470/are-you-ready-for-the-summer...
If not, some indelible black and red markers could be used to decorate the long edge of a white towel with "REVOLUTION" (so it would still be visible with someone lying on the towel). http://ronpaulfresno.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/ron-paul...

Oh, and writing with chalk is also not permanent. Just don't get caught! http://now.msn.com/mom-gets-50-hours-of-community-service-fo...

Tyvek Home Wrap

is what we used on highway bridges, fields, buildings, etc. Spray paint sticks great on it. Lowes, HomeDepot, Amazon, etc. 3ft x 100ft rolls for about $60.

Cut into 8 or 10 foot sections. 3ft high you can see these from anywhere. When you're done, just roll or fold them up. Hopefully you can reuse them come November.

Or, donate to Delegate chip-ins and let the dels do their job. Signs don't seem to convince people, they are more or less visual support for us.
