Divisions appearing amongst GOP ranks against Romney

(over Andrea Saul comments)

Keep FIGHTING for a brokered convention! Romney is HELPING us with all his screw ups and gaffes. Keep the PRESSURE and heat turned up HIGH on Romney. The more pressure and heat that can be applied the more gaffe's that Romney and his team will make.

Romney is continuing to slide in the polls and questions amongst die-hard GOP are starting to be asked about Romney's nomination in Tampa.

There is a Twitter FireStorm currently raging over this and lots of divisions between different GOP people. Search "Andrea Saul"

Never one to miss an opportunity I am trying to stick red hot needles in the cracks that are appearing. Going for ex Santorum and Gingrich supporters mostly. And generally with Andrea Saul in the post.

Great compilation of GOP divisions

It should have a very easy task to discredit Obama's angle, but Andrea Saul wasn't up to it. She repeated the blatant lie that Romney left Bain in 1999. She plainly does not know her a** from her elbow.

Ann Coulter Demands Andrea Saul Be Fired Or Conservatives Should Boycott Donating to Romney. Some interesting comments in this article.

If you read RedState, and some of the conservative rags, the rage against Romney is so lively I wonder if some conservatives haven't made the conscious choice that Romney is their equivalent of John Edwards, whose campaign will implode with scandal over taxes, Bain, and perhaps, even other stuff we haven't heard yet, so figure it is better to take him out before the convention, to avoid a total disaster for the GOP in November.

Even though most of us have scoffed at the GOP convention replacement scenarios (even though I wrote one up as a thought starter three months ago,) is it possible hard core Republicans figure sticking with Romney all the way through November after a convention lock in could be worse?

8:31 PM PT: A comment by Nailbanger prompted this question which could become quite a bit more significant if true. From my response to to nailbanger below. Could it

.. be possible that hard core conservatives realize that Romney is going to lose, or maybe even become the "John Edwards of the GOP" so it is better for them to cut their losses, now to preserve their own "credibility."

Like it would be better for their long-term reputations if they go down in history as the folks who took down Romney from the inside, rather than let it look like Democrats did it in a November landslide election that we will then use as evidence of public "repudiation" of their right-wing zealotry.

Dramatically, and publicly turning on Romney now could portray Romney as "the loser" rather than "right-wing zealotry" with would otherwise take the hit in November.

IB article - DUMP ROMINEE

http://www.ibtimes.com/articles/372508/20120810/dump-romney-...

"Some 20,000 people in media and politics reportedly got the memo that is being sent around."

DUMP ROMinee? Conservative Group Says A Romney Nomination Is Obama’s Re-election

With just about two weeks to go before the Republican National Convention kicks off in Florida, a conservative group is campaigning in high gear to get Tampa delegates to dump Mitt Romney, the presumptive GOP presidential candidate, from the Republican ticket.

Some reports are saying conservatives have no faith in Romney and that they don't trust his instincts.

The group Jews and Christians Together has begun sending memos to Tampa delegates urging them to choose someone else besides Romney to campaign against President Barack Obama for the White House.

The convention is the week of Aug. 27. Though the group behind the "DUMP ROMinee" push is urging delegates to not give Romney the nod, it hasn't recommended a candidate as a replacement.

Steve Baldwin, a political consultant and former California State legislator, is the driving force behind the group. He was also the executive director of the Council for National Policy, a networking group for social conservative activists. Some 20,000 people in media and politics reportedly got the memo that is being sent around.

"In the end, more than they wanted freedom, they wanted security. They wanted a comfortable life, and they lost it all -- security, comfort, and freedom. When ... the freedom they wished for was freedom from responsibility, then Athens ceased to be free."

Lastly

When you get the mitt delegates attention, show them the U Tube of Mitt at the HUGE ball field with 100 people in attendance and 75 were his campaign workers. THEN show them that great you tube of RP in every state rally as the number of attendees pop up on the screen upwards of 10k PLUS overflow into the parking lot.. The truth shall set you free. RP is the choice of voters all over the planet. Hillary and obama combined did not get this amount of people at their rallies including overflow count. Hillary averaged 4500 and nobama got as little as 350 people in Oregon counties until he hired a known band and gave away hot dogs and beer with the music. But he usually got about the same as Hillary at his rally's where there were no freebies. 3500 to 5,000 on a good day. No one has gotten RP's numbers at rally's as long as I can remember. That says alot. Little shadow groups want mitt only to bump nobama. They couldn't care any less about mitt.

Keepin' it real.

You tell them

how he made 50MM off of an aborted baby corpse burning business of his and the mitt witt's will run far away from this creep. It's not a lie either.

Keepin' it real.

I have already got that one

Results of National Poll commissioned by DailyPaulers

The results of this #1 Poll is really great for Ron Paul,
58% favorability, better than Obama or Romney and a statistical tie with Barack Obama for President in November. Yes it is true, and another similar poll will be done in the next few days.

http://www.dailypaul.com/245437/paul-vs-obama-poll

reasonnow

WOW This is a remarkable result considering the circumstances

Ron Paul only 2 points behind Obama with :-

1) No positive TV exposure

2) Lots of negative exposure or summary dismissal without reference to facts or policies

3) Zero political support
Get a few Senators and Congressman speaking up for him on the Sunday morning political shows etc.
They will have to do that if they are in a tight re-election race - otherwise they are cutting off their own noses to spite their face.

Minus 2 points would rapidly become plus 6 or so with a bit of cash and support. And then maybe more.

Ron Paul would have to present his policies in the right kind of way to appeal to the general public.
That is why I wrote this.
http://www.dailypaul.com/248299/if-ron-paul-is-ever-to-persu...

The op-ed really needs to be updated (to add commentary along the lines of the above, with whatever the author agrees with).
It would then make a VERY powerful piece.

I wrote a much more detailed analysis of why and how Ron Paul WOULD beat Obama if he managed to be nominated.

3) Obamacare/RomneyCare and healthcare mandates

Romney has ALWAYS been PRO Healthcare Mandate.
Romneycare was Romney's signature piece of legislation whilst he was Massachusetts Governor. He is PROUD of it.
Romneycare is 50% funded by non Massachusetts taxpayers. Do you like paying Ma's bills?

Romney urged Obama to adopt a national healthcare mandate as recently as 2009.
http://directorblue.blogspot.co.uk/2012/03/simply-delightful...

Romney defended Romneycare from Santorum's attacks during the nomination debates.

Romney appointed Mike Leavitt as his head of transition. Leavitt makes money from Healthcare exchanges, which ride on the back of healthcare mandates.

Romney will NEVER replace Obamacare (or he will replace it with minor tweaks). His own AIDE said so. He stood behind a podium which said Repeal and Replace.

"In the end, more than they wanted freedom, they wanted security. They wanted a comfortable life, and they lost it all -- security, comfort, and freedom. When ... the freedom they wished for was freedom from responsibility, then Athens ceased to be free."

Wow, some really great info,

Wow, some really great info, what I would give to have you do a 30 minute power point over this in front of the convention! If the voters knew half of this they would bail big time! It's amazing how much getting ones vote is all about herding people who have studied nothing about their candidate or his record.

If Americans knew what their politicians

were really like it would be a far far different place.
A far wealthier, prosperous place and a lot more at peace with itself and the rest of the world.
With all the energy that venal creatures can muster, they will try and stop that from ever happening.
We have to try and do it.

Thank you for your kind words.
I would love to do a presentation to the Tampa Convention on the information above.
I don't think they will allow me to do it somehow :)

Excellent article - thank you

I have added it to my Romney file

"In the end, more than they wanted freedom, they wanted security. They wanted a comfortable life, and they lost it all -- security, comfort, and freedom. When ... the freedom they wished for was freedom from responsibility, then Athens ceased to be free."

That is prominent in the McCain file

It is better if the info comes from one of their own.
McCain's file (at least the summary) is just cold hard facts with no rhetoric.
It was the basis for developing the rhetoric against Romney.

"In the end, more than they wanted freedom, they wanted security. They wanted a comfortable life, and they lost it all -- security, comfort, and freedom. When ... the freedom they wished for was freedom from responsibility, then Athens ceased to be free."

Why Romney needs to be replaced if GOP are to win in 2012

http://www.policymic.com/articles/12019/ron-paul-would-beat-...

Ron Paul can win, Romney can't.

The most recent gaffe by the Romney campaign involved spokeswoman Andrea Saul, who made the mistake of a lifetime by touting Romneycare in response to the recent controversial attack ad from a pro-Obama super PAC. "Conservatives" are freaking out. Both Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter have condemned Saul's impromptu response, even demanding the Romney campaign fire Saul. This just adds to Romney's troubles. His 40% favorability mark for presumptive presidential nominees is the worst since 1948. Even the conservative group "Jews and Christians Together" released a memo advising delegates to abstain from voting for Romney on the crucial first ballot. Time is running short, and momentum is not in his favor. In order to defeat President Obama this November, the GOP must nominate the consistent conservative Ron Paul instead of the Goldman Sachs warmonger Mitt Romney.

Think about it. Does Mitt Romney have a base? And if he does, isn't it mostly those "anyone but Obama" voters? Without the support of the Paul faithful, the already-weak Romney faces a difficult challenge against the campaigner-in-chief Barack Obama, who will have plenty of ammunition to use against Romney in the debates. With so little difference between Romney and Obama, its hard to imagine Romney being able to gain the upper hand against the incumbent. The GOP needs to make a decision fast: continue with a struggling Romney, or choose an idealogically consistent champion of liberty to defeat Obama.

"In the end, more than they wanted freedom, they wanted security. They wanted a comfortable life, and they lost it all -- security, comfort, and freedom. When ... the freedom they wished for was freedom from responsibility, then Athens ceased to be free."

Ian, the way I see it is

that the GOP doesn't really care all that much if they lose. So what if they replace their annointed with another of their annointed who might be a bit more electable?

It goes straight to Willard's base and that base is NOT the "anybody but Obama" crowd. No. It is the GOP elite. As long as the central bankers have the elite of any party in their pockets, the GOP elites really don't care if it's D or R.

That's why the RP grassroots has to go all out and show the non-elite delegates which end is up.

“It is the food which you furnish to your mind that determines the whole character of your life.”

Yep the RNC and top neocons

don't care whether the Republicans or Democrats win.

But everybody else does (except Ron Paul people).

to ask if he can help.
No luck so far.

Is anybody able to contact him?

Polls out yesterday are DISASTROUS for Romney

Romney is LOSING

http://ian56.blogspot.co.uk/2012/08/polls-out-today-are-very...

Obama now +5 pts ahead nationally and the trend is DISASTROUS (look at the graphic on the RCP page).

"In the end, more than they wanted freedom, they wanted security. They wanted a comfortable life, and they lost it all -- security, comfort, and freedom. When ... the freedom they wished for was freedom from responsibility, then Athens ceased to be free."

Is it possible..

..that Santorum or Gingrich could re-enter here? From what I read they only suspended their campaigns, and could come back in if they wanted to. I'm not sure if I'm 100% correct on that, genuine question.

I get the feeling that with the GOP's current 'throw the baby out with the bathwater' mindset, they'd still rather bring in another guaranteed loser like the above two instead of admitting they've been dicks, and ending their foodfight with Dr. Paul.

Either way, I'm picking Ian56's post as my 'wake up to awesome news' moment for today. I'm loving this.

All options become possible in a 2nd ballot

Anybody could jump in.
We need to use that as well.
If someone is not keen on Romney but likes someone else, offer them hope that they might get their candidate nominated in an open convention. They won't of course.
Only Ron Paul can beat Obama.
GOP have the same choice they had back in February.
Ron Paul or Obama, it's the GOP delegates choice to make in Tampa and always has been.

"In the end, more than they wanted freedom, they wanted security. They wanted a comfortable life, and they lost it all -- security, comfort, and freedom. When ... the freedom they wished for was freedom from responsibility, then Athens ceased to be free."

a couple posts down

The Jewish and evangelicals even said NO DELEGATE IS BOUND ON THE FIRST VOTE.GOOGLE THE STORY.

Keepin' it real.

Yes, that is totally

Yes, that is totally possible, the difference is that they gave up and did not pack the delegates with their supporters, where we and Paul did not give up and likely have 700 delegates, their supporters in delegate spots is probably under 100 together!

We need to stay realistic

My count has Ron Paul with about 180 delegates and 191 stealth, 371 total.

There are some more "super" stealth. Ron Paul supporters who got picked to be a Romney/Santorum/Gingrich delegate before the election in that state took place. I have no idea how many there are.
Might be 10, might be 80, might even be a few more.

Romney has about 1550 delegates if all the super delegates vote as expected last week (90%+ of them for Romney).
Perhaps even a few super delegates can be persuaded when they see how bad a candidate Romney actually is.

If we can stop Romney getting 1144 votes on the first ballot. It is all to play for, let battle commence.
But we can use the same angle as we are doing against Romney, whichever other delegates are suggested, we can show they can't beat Obama.
Only Ron Paul can.

My delegate count is here.
It agrees with the Green Papers, plus assumptions and differences as stated in the notes.
It was built up as elections, caucuses and conventions happened with eye witness accounts of what actually happened.
http://ian56.blogspot.co.uk/2012/03/true-delegate-count-achi...

P.S.
People like Matt Larson have given false perspectives to people with wildly optimistic delegate counts, backed up by zero evidence.
Matt Larson had Ron Paul with 400 delegates half way through the elections and conventions. As can now be seen he was wildly optimistic with poor if any evidence.
Numbers plucked from thin air like AP.
Ron Paul himself said he expected to have 400 to 500 delegates, but he didn't do so well in later State Conventions as he might of, e.g. Texas, Nebraska.

We need ALL of our delegates to show up in Tampa, to help us in floor votes, persuasion and debate.
We need to make best use of Tom Davis who is a delegate for us.

A few of the Romney delegates won't show, thinking it's a foregone conclusion.
A few more Gingrich/Santorum won't show - they will think "what's the point".
We can get a few of our alternates bumped - we have quite a lot of them (I didn't keep a record of the numbers for that).
But that's where the number of 1,000 total delegates comes from - about 400 delegates and 600 alternates.
We need ALL our alternates to show up as well.

If we can get to a 2nd ballot we can show that only Ron Paul can beat Obama.
The fact that Ron Paul only starts with 371 (or circa 400) does not affect that.

"In the end, more than they wanted freedom, they wanted security. They wanted a comfortable life, and they lost it all -- security, comfort, and freedom. When ... the freedom they wished for was freedom from responsibility, then Athens ceased to be free."

We know

that RP has the delegates and Mittens does not. It's a myth that mittens has 1550 delegates... yeah in his dreams.
That's all I'm saying. I know the numbers but am not telegraphing it. I said I can do math.
So help get the delegates to Tampa. The doc said to suit up and show up. Donate to the delegates. Time is running out. $3 bucks? 1,000 people give $3 that's 3,000. $3. You can not eat mickey D's dog food for one day and donate to a worthy cause.

Now you know why mittens and his thugs are stripping the RP delegates. Now you know..... you just don't know the numbers cause no one is telegraphing it.......and RP will parrot whatever count the enemdia says. LOL

Keepin' it real.

Appreciate all the work

Appreciate all the work you've done figuring out the delegates. After looking over your spread sheet, I can tell you that you are way short in my state. Most of our delegates went undercover. I am hoping that other states have similar undercover delegates, that's where my upper figure came from, but you are right, both of our figures are nothing more than an educated guess, except in the few states where it was publicized, and even there we can hope that there are some undercover Paul supporters.

OK

I know my number for Ron Paul delegates is under.
But I have ABSOLUTELY no idea by how much.
Most of the state conventions etc. reported the "stealth" delegate numbers with eyewitness accounts, but the later ones were more cautious.

I didn't report on Oregon numbers for ages, because they wanted to stay undercover. I published when the Oregon delegates went public.

"In the end, more than they wanted freedom, they wanted security. They wanted a comfortable life, and they lost it all -- security, comfort, and freedom. When ... the freedom they wished for was freedom from responsibility, then Athens ceased to be free."

I've no idea.

I'm simply not close enough to be of any real benefit to the campaign, not clued in enough politically to be able to make those counts. I prefer Real2012DelegateCount.com.

I'm simply happy to wait until Tampa. Over the months, I haven't seen enough conspiracy, corruption or backroom planning to make me think that Ron Paul isn't a great shot for Tampa, and the only option against Obama.

At the end of this month, Ron Paul is going to be nominated, and on the forums where I've been banging his drum the last few months, I'll simply smile and say 'I told you so' to the haters. :)

I'm lovin' it!

I'm lovin' it!

Jewish and Christian group allied to Santorum says Dump romney

We are WINNING

http://www.buzzfeed.com/rosiegray/conservative-group-launche...

A group called "Jews and Christians Together," which backed Rick Santorum in the Republican primary, is sending a memo to Republican National Convention delegates urging them not to vote for Mitt Romney at the convention, even if they're bound to him.
The nine-page memo casts Romney's nomination in the direst terms. A press release from the group reads:
"DUMP ROMNEY" contends that no delegates are actually "bound" by law or GOP
rules to vote for Romney and that, to win the White House and toss-up
Senate seats, delegates must exercise their right to "conscientiously
abstain" from Romney on the crucial first ballot, aiming for a
stronger ticket leader in subsequent convention voting rounds.
The core of a hard-hitting new 80,000 word book and incubating Tampa
insurgency, the entire memo can be read online free via Amazon Kindle
Cloud Reader using the Amazon.com search term "DUMP ROMNEY." "Were
frontrunners simply entitled to the nomination, a convention wouldn't
be necessary," the texts say, noting that Intrade predictive markets
gives Obama odds of about 60-40 over Romney and that New York Times
political analyst Nate Silver projects about 300 electoral votes for
Obama, rating Romney's current odds around 21%

"In the end, more than they wanted freedom, they wanted security. They wanted a comfortable life, and they lost it all -- security, comfort, and freedom. When ... the freedom they wished for was freedom from responsibility, then Athens ceased to be free."

Question - how did this group get the list of Tampa delegates?

We need to get this list as well.
And send our letter with why Romney is such a bad candidate and will devastate the GOP with the scale of the losses in November.

Any suggestions as to how to get the list of delegates?
RNC are not going to give it to us.
