ABCNews: A Tale of Two UNNNelectable Candidates

(Pssst, bad aftertaste, Citizen? Nothing like the REAL Thing!)

***

By Matthew Dowd, August 8, 2012

Six months ago, at the beginning of February, I wrote a column about President Obama and Mitt Romney's being two unelectable candidates about to face off in the general election.

There were many unanswered questions at the time, and much has transpired since, but let's take a look again at the equation.

Well, different day, same story. After all these many months, we still have two unelectable candidates running against each other. If you look at historical precedents, Gov. Romney and President Obama wouldn't be able to win this presidential election. But because they face each other, someone has to win this very tight election.

'Romney Girl' and 'Obama I Used to Know' viral videos...

jab at presidential candidates:

The Romney video is funny,

I'm a Romney girl, in a Romney world,
Silver tip your hair, tax shelters everywhere,

and the Obama one is highly creative,

Because you won and then you cut me off, Now your speeches never soar as high as unemployment. You took Obamacare so far, But you left me like a dog strapped on Romney’s car. Even the shirt that was on my back, Is owned by China or being arbitraged by Goldman Sachs. Just send in a Predator Drone, ‘Cause now you’re not Obama that I used to know.

Now you’re not Obama that I used to know,

Now I need Obama that I used to know...

I've always been bothered by exactly what this this poster talks about. Whoever becomes the next president will go down in history as being president when SHTF happens. My love and respect for Dr Paul causes me to constantly 2nd guess what I keep hoping for. I want RP to be President but I want the establishment to be held responsible for the tough road ahead. TPTB are evil SOB's. I sometimes feel like I'm encouraging the last true statesman this country has left to jump into a tank filled with sharks.

Copied comment here:
While there is still Ron Paul running for the GOP nominaition, and Gary Johnson running for the Presidnecy on a "Ron Paul lite" platform on the Libertarian Party ticket, who in his right mind would even WANT to be President between 2013 and 2017? The impending bankruptcy of the country (along with many of the State and local governments, the implosion of a long-overextended and almost universally hated empire, the almost inevitable collapse of the US "dollar", either through a 1930's depression or a Weimar type hyperinflation, the utterly dysfunctional and corrupt bureaucratic kleptocracy that passes for the criminal regime in DC, ever more widely despised by the American people of all races, classes, and religions, the unresolved and ever growing difficulties in healthcare, pollution abatement, race relations, "publik skoolz", and on and on...I wouldn't want the job, and I don't think that any other clear thinking person would either! PEACE AND FREEODM!!

It is my

firm belief that RP knows exactly what he will be getting into should he somehow be elected our next president in Nov. He has said as much. He knows, not only will it be a rough year, or so(I think or so), but also he will need the cooperation of Congress for much of the changes. I can't think of anyone in recent times so willing to give for his country.

I believe we are in for some surprises at the RNC....not sure just what yet. If by some wonderful twist, RP is nominated, I think many more rank and file democrats and republicans will come out of hiding to support him. I think way too many are scared for their lives and careers to buck the establishment. I think the audit the fed bill was a prime example. GO RON PAUL.

I like your comment ussovereignty!

I think the same thing often. It could very well be the most exciting time in any of our lives soon. No doubt RP would have MILLIONS of people standing by to lend a hand in any way needed.

I sometimes wish regardless of how the RNC turns out...for RP to represent all the Americans who no longer support the corrupt and unconstitutional government. We would look to RP for direction. Hopefully the Military and the Oath keepers would stand by us too.

It could be epic.

Unfortunately

I fear the reason so many UN troops are in the USA is because they would probably have less inclination to join "we the People" should the PTB find an excuse to use them.

We can hope though that the citizens of other countries, some of whom have posted here and elsewhere to make their support of RP known, might actually represent the feelings of more people than we realize. It may truly be "an idea whose time has come"....worldwide. Wouldn't that be grand?

It would still be good for

It would still be good for the country if Ron Paul won because that means the people have repented and are ready to deal with our problems. The problem isn't leadership only, it is the condition of the entire country. Talking with people has made me realize that it is absolutely true that many people are so depraved and lost that they cannot tell their right hand from their left. Even talking with the people I most respect, they have all compromised. They have compromised their hope in good or they have tuned out and are ignoring the truth because their hearts have been so hardened. My family has a liking for Obama because he is the first black president and shows how far we have come. Of course, I do not see what "progress" we have made besides stepping closer to resembling the great Babylon in Revelation of the Bible.
