OP/ED: Paul Ryan is No Ron Paul

Paul Ryan's economic solutions fall far short of Ron Paul's plan, says 'unimpressed' founder of NH Tea Party Coalition.
By Jane Aitken, Founder, NH Tea Party Coalition - August 11, 2012

There is much abuzz over Mitt Romney's announcement naming Congressman Paul Ryan from Wisconsin as his vice presidential running mate.

But many see it as unimpressive, and even premature and just another indication of a desperate move to distract from the idea that the "presumptive nominee" has in truth, been fighting for his political life.

A nominee has yet to be chosen at the RNC Convention in Tampa later this month. And some say recent attempts by the Romney campaign to rule-break and manipulate the caucuses in order to steal delegates from other candidates is a glaring indication that Romney himself isn't all that confident.

One noted liberty activist even suggested that Romney had chosen an "imitation Ron Paul".

Equally "unimpressed."

Thanks, Jane. Nice article.

You're welcome!

It was picked up by Lew Rockwell and Richard Viguerie and a few other places who 'get it'.

Those who don't dare expose Ryan's past record as a statist WILL post my link as an FYI I'll bet. I'm glad to be the mouthpiece. I'm beholden to no one.

I love how...

the GOP, and all their talk-radio surrogates always hype their establishment breed of next generation leaders. Note that Rand Paul submitted a real budget that cuts actual federal spending, but the party paid it no mind. No, it was that genius Paul Ryan who received all the accolades for his "brave" foray into fiscal discipline. Nothing too radical, no military cuts, etc.. Milquetoast moderation that only the Republican establishment can submit. Ryan and Rubio will be the next Boehner and McConnell. Sellouts without a spine!

But don't you know, the MSM is saying Ryan is the

intellectual leader of the Republican Party.

I couldn't stop laughing.

"Bend over and grab your ankles" should be etched in stone at the entrance to every government building and every government office.

The MSM wants to artifically build up Ryan,....

so they can make it appear like they are the ones that take him down when the time comes. If we have already identified his inconsistencies, you can bet that the Obama campaign has as well.

IF Romney/Ryan wins,

then there's one perk for my husband and I - Paul Ryan won't be our Congressman anymore! Yeah!!! We are Constitutionalists and decided we would not be voting for him again after his horrendous voting record. It doesn't matter what we're passionate about - he will vote the opposite. He voted TWICE FOR NDAA Section 1021, even though his District 1 AND Wisconsin is against NDAA Section 1021. He voted FOR CISPA. He was AGAINST Audit the Fed and at the last moment when he know it would pass, decided to jump on board. Sorry, but with his full-scale dragging district 1, kicking and screaming to tyranny, we'd be only too glad to get rid of him!

Of course if we're rid of him here, everyone in America will have him - but a VP doesn't do much anyway, so hopefully he'll do less harm as VP than he's been doing as a Congressman. Who cares about his shallow Roadmap? That does't make him worthy to take the oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States when he can't even do it with the Wisconsin Constitution nor his own Congressional District 1!!!!!!

Audit the Fed?

Wow that's interesting! The first time around Audit The Fed had over 300 cosponsors.. I did not think to look if Ryan or any of the other supposed VP Romney picks supported it.

I know Romney does NOT.

He would never win either way

And if he actually did, we'd have to toss the liberals out again by force and it wouldn't be as easy.

Paul Ryan is not in it to win : Do you understand yet?

He's in it to discredit anything to with freedom or tea party.
He has NOTHING to do with the Tea Party.

Make sure to inform everyone you know, of that very fact!!

That WAS the point of course...

Because I'm sick of AP and the rest of the MSM acting like he is anointed by us.

Paul Ryan - CFR nook designed to discredit anything freedom

That's his only qualification and most Republicans see it!!

Bumping this post!

Paul Ryan: The hypocrit. Lecturing everyone about the budget and at the same time helping expand debt, spendng, wars; Patriot Act, NDAA, Big brother taking over schools even more! Big bailouts for Wall Street. Another 1 percenter.

NO KIDDING!!!!

Like we need an article to tell us this...

Love Liberty, be Vigilant

"Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty" (2 Corinthians 3:17)

Faith in God will prevail all things!

No one but Paul Ryan!!!

Oh wait, it's no one but Ron Paul, sorry Mitt!

Well,

If Ron Paul was selected as VP, his role might me as miniscule as Biden's.

Since Gary Johnson is much better than Romney, Obama, Biden and Ryan, we may all rally for Gary after Tampa. I hope our Blue Republicans understand that Gary offers most of the things that attracted them to RP in the first place.

We all wanted RP, but maximizing liberty is important since our goal is free society (when majority accepts our ideas), not tyranny of our libertarian power (we cannot thrust our ideas by force through the throats of to the majority for long, we will be kicked out.)

WOW Talkin' about Rmoney

WOW Talkin' about Rmoney counting his chickens before they hatch, desperately trying to look 'confident', I don't think it's working...

Comment posted over there:

Thank you Jane for the facts about Paul Ryan. Indeed, Ryan is no Ron Paul; Ryan cannot even stand in the shadow of Ron Paul. As you correctly point out, his voting record shows that he is just another big government, imperialistic neocon. Ryan adds nothing to Romney's hopes of becoming the next president. I lament the fact that there is not even one imitation of Ron Paul either in our midst or on the political horizon. This pseudo-imitation is grotesque when compared to Ron Paul.

Thanks for your support!

I was asked for the 'tea party' reaction -- if it would make a difference in whether we 60% who didn't support him in NH would succumb and vote Romney.

My intention was not to say Romney should have picked Ron Paul... because I doubt Ron would accept as that would rubber stamp Romney's lack of conservatism. Certainly Mitt chose Ryan because Ryan has always been PROMOTED as a conservative, but even neocon bloggers like Malkin agree that he is not.

Rather it was a statement on the current reality, which many don't get to see unless they are working behind the scenes and watching alternative media.

And some are arguing on the premise that Romney is the nominee and Paul supporters are the disrupters.

My premise was, there is still a primary, and it's not the Paul supporters who have disrupted.. but the Romney bots, which make me think he is not all that confident he's going to win. Add to that the other faction... and well you see what I mean.

We'll discuss the general after the nominee is chosen.

And please do head over to my blogs at Patch.com... they are more well read than the formerly conservative Union Leader which has turned into a useless happy paper.. did not even print my endorsements for local candidates like CD-1, Sheriff, and Executive Council. The Sheriff is going to become increasingly more important as the days go by!

Jane, There are two Tea Parties, IMO. One real and one co-opted.

The real Tea Party is right here (as is the real republican party): small government, follow the Constitution, personal Liberty, balanced budgets, and ending undeclared wars.
The co-opted Tea Party is sort of 'this' and maybe 'that,' but certainly no mention of either stopping undeclared wars or following the Constitution.
There are two tea parties, so it depends on the one you ask which will determine what your answer will be.

Thanks for all that you do for Liberty.

I understand

That is why I formed the NHTPC and vowed we would never align with those hijackers of 2009. Anyway, a coalition of groups can't sign other groups onto another group... so it's a moot question. I told the people in the list of groups they could join us to show support for the 'tea party' but some had to learn the issues!

You are correct that the hijacker groups (GOP PACS) don't talk about MOST of the real tea party issues.

I've been there from the start, as you know I mothered the Ron Paul run in 2007 with his first fundie when I introduced him to 400 of my friends here in NH. I will never forget the look on his face when he came over to me at the greeting table and said, "Oh my, you must know everyone in NH!"... LOL He was so pleased.

I think was the #45 to sign up for DP as well... Mike would know that.

Wow! You are member #59,..close enough Jane.

You are a founding member of the Daily Paul, IMB.

Ahh... thanks!

I knew it was somewhere around there but wasn't sure, so yeah, pretty close.

I worked very hard in 2008 and I was starting the one-woman PR firm early... as well as I drove the state of NH in my pick up doing tables, sometimes two and three events on a weekend ALONE!

In those days, RP supporters did not/would not campaign. I could not convince them he would not win anything if they didn't get his name out there and having sign painting parties among themselves was fun, but that we needed to graduate from that. I am pleased at what I saw in 2012 however.
