Jesse Benton: The Epitome of an Establishment Sellout

Here is Jesse Benton's latest statement as reported by Tampa Bay Online (tbo.com) and the Tampa Bay Tribune -

Benton said by email that Ron Paul is not expected to speak, but that Romney representatives "are working with us (on) other ways to recognize and honor Ron at the convention.

"Dr. Paul will not seek to be nominated from the floor," he added.

Gotta love that Benton. Ron may have wanted to win, but I have a strong feeling that Benton was in-it-to-lose-it from the beginning.

im so sick of this guy

im so sick of this guy benton....it really angers me..we have been fighting this fight for a long time...the fight has 2 continue at the convention...how does paul allow him 2 speak like this

Assuming your premise...

...(which I do not agree with) that Benton is controlling the direction of the campaign in a way that Ron Paul disagrees with, then how do you expect that Paul would make a good president in any meaningful way when numerous people who are more experienced, more powerful, better funded, etc. than Benton would be constantly attempting to control him and his administration?

I find these claims more insulting to Dr. Paul than Benton. You can't hate on Benton like this and still admire Dr. Paul's fortitude. It's just not logical.

Hayek explained it best

The worst rise to the top because good men will not go to the lengths that evil ones will to attain power. My best guess is that Ron Pauls biggest fault and fatal flaw as well as his best quality is his humility.

This comment needs to be front page...

It is the most practical response I've heard yet... I think all DP'ers could rally behind the observation.

100% correct

Don't fall for this, folks! Too many people here are always looking for a boogeyman.

This will play out.

As the SHTF people will wake and we Paul folks will be thought of as Patriots down the road. Crash and burn is here and now.

Jesse has done what the campaign has intended. He is not the one at fault...we are at 90% sheep and there seems to be little to do to effectively change that.

We are already over the cliff.

just a troll being a troll

Trust Ron Paul. See you in Tampa.

Read my mind

:} Ron is a helluva poker player.

Rand Paul 2016

Hmmm

I have a couple of questions maybe some here could answer.

1. Why hasn't Jesse Benton been fired?
2. Who can convince me at this point that Paul doesnt know exactly what Jesse Benton is doing/has done but at the same time he knows who T-Mot is ...the guy that makes video's from his car ? lol

btw...I'm still in it for Paul providing that he wins the nomination so don't get mad, just answer the questions.....

I think you raise legitimate concerns...

Why would someone that is so widely disliked among the movement be kept as an important spokesperson?

If there is some grand strategy that unfolds in Tampa, I will be happy to eat my words. If there isn't any strategy behind Benton's comments and actions, then the picture is pretty clear.

Then, it will be necessary to ask why Ron Paul didn't do something about Benton sooner if he intended to win.

Benton has been pissing people off for a long time. This is nothing new. Why was it tolerated? It couldn't have been helpful to the Campaign.

You know

the answer already.....

LOL

I don't think we will get any answers

and i'm certainly no Jelly Doughnut fan. I'm just putting it out there that maybe just MAYBE the Jelly Doughnut Benton has been following orders from the beginning.
That being said, just stop and THINK about what that means for a minute......

How does this help?

Jesse Benton is Ron Paul's granddaughter's husband. There probably no greater fan of Dr. Paul than Jesse Benton. You guys really have to get another line to complain about.

Either he's a sellout or he's telling them what's in our best

interest at the moment. It's very possible that they want the GOP to let their guard down. Let's wait to reserve judgement until the convention. Remember this is all politics.

Please recall that Benton said...

that he thought the Dump Romney strategy is "disgusting."

That's what Benton thinks of legit efforts to get Paul nominated. Hell, even some of the Republican base is jumping on the Dump Romney bandwagon. Why would Benton say it is "disgusting" when even some neo-cons agree? Why would he express an opinion such as that using the words he did? Benton is against efforts to get Paul nominated from the floor. I can see no other motivation.

I don't know his reasons, but I will tell you

that it's very possible he chimed in (on his own or told to do so by Dr. Paul) on the matter to distance Ron Paul from being categorized with that kind of bigotry. It can also be possible that the media reached out to him for a comment and possibly spin it.

You always have to keep in mind that many non-Paul supporters view us as crazy, cult like followers. So having said that, I'm pretty sure rumors would start spreading associating us and Ron Paul with that memo, REGARDLESS OF THE FACT that it never once mentioned Dr. Paul, yet mentioned Santorum, Gingrich, Bachman, etc. Remember that we are dealing with many dumb-downed narrow-minded people that take anything the gov't or tv tells them as gospel truth, and too irresponsible to research it themselves.

I just don't trust him any farther than I can throw him...

and I hear he's a big guy.

He could have easily said...

"The Liberty Movement is not known for giving up. They will continue to fight for Ron Paul and the cause of liberty in any way they can. Can you blame them for not giving up? Freedom is popular."

That would have been a way of commenting without endorsing the actions and not degrading the people who are fighting for Ron Paul. His words were very alienating and divisive. Dr. Paul would have never called any effort to gain freedom "disgusting."

I wrote a post the other day about dumping "Mitt the Twit" - http://www.dailypaul.com/247161/attn-to-all-rnc-delegates

I guess my efforts are disgusting.

Really?

"The Liberty Movement is not known for giving up. They will continue to fight for Ron Paul and the cause of liberty in any way they can. Can you blame them for not giving up? Freedom is popular."

The MSM would have jumped all over this and would have twisted it as "The Liberty Movement" being a part of that conservative group.

"That would have been a way of commenting without endorsing the actions and not degrading the people who are fighting for Ron Paul. His words were very alienating and divisive. Dr. Paul would have never called any effort to gain freedom "disgusting.""

You just proved why it was necessary for Benton to make that statement. These people are Santorum, Bachman, & Gingrich supporters. Not once was Paul mentioned. They are NOT fighting for Paul. They want ANYONE BUT Romney. Please tell me how was he degrading the people fighting for Dr. Paul?

There are certainly...

Ron Paul supporters trying to get RNC delegates to dump Romney. It's not mainly conservatives; it's mainly Paul supporters.

As far as the elements outside of the Liberty Movement that are now getting involved in the Dump Romney effort, Benton should have said - "It appears Mitt Romney still has work to do to tie up parts of the Republican base."

I'll tell you how it's degrading. I've attempted to sway Romney delegates to not vote for him. By implication, Benton called my efforts disgusting as well.

Benton is not even popular with the Movement. Why should he be spokesperson for the biggest name for the cause? I think Ron has a big heart, and sometimes that probably gets taken advantage of. Anyone that is kind-hearted can relate.

There's still...

no reassuring motives for him to call "Dump Romney" disgusting.

There's still...

much more tactful ways of expressing his opinions. I don't see why Ron has allowed him to continue to represent the campaign publicly. Most of the Ron Paul supporters I know in real life don't trust the guy. Why would someone unpopular with the Movement be kept as a spokesperson for it?

You have to fight to win!

Nice guys finish LAST!

Well I guess 'They' will put up ALL KINDS of road blocks on us next
election cycle and the Liberty Movemnt will be squashed FORVER!

Thanks leadership for lay down and dying!!!

Glad I wasted my time.

In Liberty

I'm still waiting for any

I'm still waiting for any evidence against Mr. Benton amidst the seemingly unending excellence he's thus far shown.

Problem is that some people don't see the strategy behind the tactics. you sir have been trolled by a proffesional.

You want evidence? How about

You want evidence? How about the horrendous campaign? Liza Minelli could have done a better job managing that campaign. Where was the campaign when it was time to defend Paul supporters at various state conventions and caucuses? Did Benton not say we would be glad to get the VP nomination? Did the campaign have an official videographer to show Dr. Paul in his best light? No, they left it up to youtubers to post campaign footage with poor audio and visual quality. Remember that press conference in which Dr. Paul had to strain to hear the questions cause Jesse had not brought in a microphone to amplify the audio of the press members in the press conference? I could go on and on.
