Benton: ‘Dr. Paul will not seek to be nominated from the floor.’

[ Tampa Bay Online: ] - Ron Paul has announced he'll seek a positive, non-confrontational stance from his campaign during the convention, and even will snub some gatherings planned by supporters because his campaign isn't controlling them.

Paul campaign chairman Jesse Benton wouldn't discuss negotiations between the two camps or the timing of [Rand] Paul's speech, but said, "We have been told that it will be a very prominent time." Benton said by email that Ron Paul is not expected to speak, but that Romney representatives "are working with us (on) other ways to recognize and honor Ron at the convention.

"Dr. Paul will not seek to be nominated from the floor," he added.

I will be caused to start crying, again, due to Congressman Dr Ron Paul...all those time I listened to the brush fires of freedom speeches, I could not stop myself from becoming teary eyed...due to the knowledge of how we are exponentially increasing toward a tyrannical totalitarian fascist government that does not hold dear the freedoms that so many fought and died for...

Ron's passing the baton...

...to his son. He doesn't want to rock the boat and screw up future opportunities for Rand within the party. As much as it has hurt many of us to see Rand morph into a slightly favorable yet greatly typical politician, the younger reincarnate of his father he is not. It's important that we stay the course. Whether Ron Paul wants to lead with his ideas or not, we must send a loud message in great numbers to the GOP and Democrats that millions wants someone to lead with the ideals we embrace. If 10%+ vote for Ron Paul in the general election, it will send a loud message.

Our choices are Liberty, Sound Money, Non-interventionism, Free-Market Capitalism or Romney/Obama, who will give us none.

We are in this

for the long haul, the very, very long haul. This whole thing only started about 5 years ago. There is a lot of ground work to do in changing peoples minds about what government is and what it is supposed to do, and what is right and wrong. We can't educate a majority of Americans in only 5 years. We can't change out all the state GOP people in only 5 years, and we can't change out the national GOP until the states are changed. We haven't lost, we just haven't won yet.

Have any of you noticed how Ron Paul has been going around and promoting pro liberty canidates for congressional spots? And that everyone is distracted by this nomination to notice he is weeding out some of these establishment hacks.

He may not get the nomination, but he has definetly made a huge impact with the revolution! Ron Paul has brought forth the idea whose time has come!

It sure feels like 2012 has been all about setting Rand up....

Still calling for the big numbers and signs lining the roads in Tampa... Why? Is it to give clout to Rand? Ron is retiring so why would he ask for everyone to go to Florida if he doesn't seek the nomination. If this article is Ron's true thoughts why hasn't he simply dropped out? This has been a crazy campaign to follow.

One thing to keep in mind Ron Paul promised to stay in this until the votes are counted and he has not dropped out.

Ive have been thinking this for a wile and its the first time im going to say it...

I think Ron has been a worrier for a VERY long time. BUT, he is not a leader. He just happens to be at a place in time where his message is appropriate

Life is about a series of things for me, some of the most important are as follows:

1.) Ability to set yourself up for success.
2.) Identify that moment, to take your chance.
AND THE MOST IMPORTANT...
3.) The guts to seize THAT moment.

I do not believe Ron has the Guts to seize this moment. He has had the opportunity multiple times to take a course that would change much for our movement; and they have chose to literally sabotage themselves.

This Campaign is officially over imho.

Time to move on, find a new leader. He's a martyr now, nothing more, nothing less. He will live on as the man who did much, who lead us to where we all are now. but we must take control of it now.

Okay, Maybe No GUTS was/is a bit harsh and

overkill... but the premise still stands.

We've built and built and built and it seams that at every time, the campaign cuts themselves off at the knees, as if to ensure, they come close but no go over the top.

If Ron Paul's supporters successfully seize the moment themselves, then Ron Paul will have shown him to be the leader I would like. Not only that . . . if his supporters have victory and think it was all on their efforts, then Ron Paul will be the ultimate leader.

He will have millions of leaders coming after him. That is the true leader.

but he is not a leader. There is a difference.

And so I agree with you. The campaign was over before it even began. It is just now that most of us are figuring that out.

But I disagree that it is time to find a new leader. Be your own leader. Even if you have zero followers - be your own leader.

These are hard truths. I gave you an up vote. But it is a tough crowd here when you challenge the figurehead. People would rather lie to themselves than see the truth.

Just like every twist in this road I have decided not to worry about what is going to happen. I intend to support Ron Paul like I always have and see what happens at the convention. I will be disappointed if he were to give in as I just gave 4 times my average money bomb to get the delegates to Tampa. I really hate throwing my hard earned money away. I still have faith. Doesn't seem like he would request more money for delegates to get to tampa if he was not planning on winning. He knows how hard it is to donate I cannot see him deceiving us. It is not his style.

Ron Paul has explained seveal times in emails.

That he does not have anywhere near enough delegates to win the nomination and that the purpose of the delegates going to Tampa at this point is so they can do everything they can to influence the platform and direction of the Republican Party. He hasn't been deceitful, he's been pretty straight-up with us since early June that he will not be the GOP nominee.
