Benton: ‘Dr. Paul will not seek to be nominated from the floor.’
Submitted by Dither on Sun, 08/12/2012 - 15:50[ Tampa Bay Online: ] - Ron Paul has announced he'll seek a positive, non-confrontational stance from his campaign during the convention, and even will snub some gatherings planned by supporters because his campaign isn't controlling them.
Paul campaign chairman Jesse Benton wouldn't discuss negotiations between the two camps or the timing of [Rand] Paul's speech, but said, "We have been told that it will be a very prominent time." Benton said by email that Ron Paul is not expected to speak, but that Romney representatives "are working with us (on) other ways to recognize and honor Ron at the convention.
"Dr. Paul will not seek to be nominated from the floor," he added.

When I first read this
I was angry and I chose to not comment on it... now that I've slept on it I say IGNORE BENTON!
It's up to us to get this done so stop worrying about what Benton says. Read your email from the good doctor if you get discouraged!!!
Let's get back to work and get ready for Tampa!!
Ron Paul convert from the Heart of Dixie
Yes ignore Benton
and any one else for that matter. We have a purpose. I like RP and what he stands for. But I do not pay attention to any one because I have already set my sights a long time back. My goal is to have RP nominated period. To me it is not about winning or loosing it is how I play the game. I play as hard as I can and then I let the winning and loosing take care of its self. So my advice would be, don't worry about Jesse Benton or any one else. Just fight the good fight no matter what. We know were we are headed and we do not need anyone to hold our hands in order to get there. How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. We do not need to let Jesse Benton or any one else disrupt this movement. Sure a good leader would be fine but you do not need one to succeed. As I said we already know where we are going so just stay on the road.
Ignor is from ignorance
The campaign is dealing with some of the most corrupt people in the world. Their job is not easy. They are still in this race while all others including GJ dropped out months ago. Most here don't have the guts to join the GOP let alone face these Neocons face to face and FIGHT.
The campaign is working IN THE GOP, so if you are not GOP, this campaigbn is not for you anyways. You didn't have what it takes.
Back off Benton. Ron Paul LOVES, respects, appreciates and openly applaudes Benton VERY MUCH, with damn good reasons the cowards among us will NEVER understand.
STAND WITH RAND 2016
Oh Granger...
I have not jumped on the hate Benton bandwagon. I know there are lots of things going on that are beyond my knowledge and I have not lost faith. However, when comments like these are made which can be taken to be be discouraging or cause people to lose faith I sometimes have to turn my back and focus on the bigger goal... that was my point in my comment.
I am not backing down. I will see you in Tampa. I am not a delegate but I will be there all week!
Ron Paul convert from the Heart of Dixie
I just don't think it's good to ignor Benton
I'm happy to know you have not lost faith ((((((( AngieDfromAL)))))
If a delegate asked me to go to the RNC, I would go to Tampa, but as it is, I think since my committee changed the meeting to the 25TH, after I had them remove Prop 32 off the New Business and into the Agenda, I should be there to make sure Prop 32 does not pass. The on;ly thing that would stop me is an invitation from a delegate to go to the RNC as a guest.
HAVE FUN!! BE SAFE!!!! GO RON PAUL RALLY!!!
STAND WITH RAND 2016
Agreed!
Good Positive Suggestion Angie!

Well said! Ignore Benton. Who
Well said! Ignore Benton. Who cares about him anyways? He means nothing to this movement, and has proven he is not part of it. The best thing we can do is just not care about what Benton has to say and move along.

Get Bent(on)
and F U Rand.
Hey GOP, where's my vote?
Jesse Benton Never Heard Of Ron Paul Until 2007....LOL
lol...Now he is the chairman of the campaign...What a frigin joke!
He goes and marries Valore (Pie -eyed) and wala!!, he proceeds to "F" up our campaign for liberty and at the sametime guts Ron Paul's presidential bid..
Jesse (Jesus, The Christ) Benton has pulled off a frigin coup d'état:.
Excuse Me But
The campaign is Ron Paul's not yours or anyone else's here on the Daily Paul - you chose to follow him and to join his campaign but you personally do not own any campaign - PERIOD. Ron Paul knows that he can no longer get the necessary votes to win - actually he knew this back when he lost Washington and Missouri so convincingly. Even if he had 800 delegates - 1000 delegates - he would not win because the remaining ones would vote for Romney with the full support of every other political figure of consequence within the Republican Party.
whatever
RP's movement is based on the supporters. The campaign can't do whatever it wants and expect not to piss people off.
Hey GOP, where's my vote?
What is irrational
The campaign and Ron Paul are the same - he runs his own campaign - Benton and others are his mouthpieces and lieutenants. If the campaign pisses you off then realize that this is the doing of Ron Paul - the rational response to someone disrespecting your efforts is to withdraw these efforts but the RP radicals do the opposite.
RP gave up back in May - he does not want to ruin Rand's career by alienating the Republican Party by making a kamikaze attempt to win the nomination at this time. Why would any rational person continue to push his nomination under these circumstances? He wouldn't!!! He would find another outlet for his passion - another candidate, another cause, another election - but RP himself - the man - is at the end of his quest. Time to move on.

I'm Here
Because this forum is a beacon for hateful and small-minded individuals. I would love to have the chance to meet some of you jokers in real life so that I could see for myself the intolerant, arrogant jerks who are so brave and brazen in their comments. Absent the chance to call you a loser and a jerk to your face, this will have to do.
Ron Paul is wise.
The unscrupulous press would crucify Ron Paul or totally ignore him if he campaigned actively.
The media is owned by the elite and they have chosen their two boys Obama/Romney to PLAY at the phoney, photo op, rigged, election game. What a FARCE! There is no way to win by playing their game.
Ron Paul knows the game and makes his plans under the radar. Tampa may be a very big surprise! God speed to the delegates who are in the front lines!
Even so, the Revolution will go on as long as WE remember what is true and honorable, and what it is to live in freedom and integrity.
Matching Wit w/ Wisdom, Ron Paul is fair & balanced.
I am somewhat healthy... Some say wealthy.
Wise is taking a good deal more effort than I had anticipated.
The Wisdom of Mark Twain. Wisdom set to melodious guitar solo. 10 minutes.

My question to all who
My question to all who support Ron Paul and his movement. Will you support Rand Paul in 2016 for President if he praises Romney during his speech before the Convention? I will not. I will view it as a total capitulation to the neocons and their agenda. BTW: I view Obama as the lesser of two evils -- at least we know what we are dealing with. Romney is a wild card at best. He has promised us more war and if he follows his past example he will kill you and sell off your vital parts to make a profit (metaphorically speaking). What say you?
I'll keep this short because the Randers are crazy.
I will not vote for Rand.
You got a better option?
You got a better option? Don't even say G Johnson.
Yes, Gary Johnson
Yes, Gary Johnson
Really?
Now you're going to use the same line the neocons used about us Ron Paul supporters on people that would also support his son?
Yeah that makes sense, just blanket label people as crazy and move on.
I agree. I get down voted 7
I agree. I get down voted 7 whole times because I said I would vote for Rand. Listen folks...Ron is not going to be around forever. Infact, he may even retire this year. If Rand runs in 2016 you bet yer a$$ I will vote for him. Ya'll have a better plan?
Most definitely
I'd definitely be supporting Rand. IMHO, he's perfect for our movement because he is able to cross over and pull in voters that back typical GOP'ers to his camp as well as us liberty lovers. All the while Rand has a great voting record nearly in line with his father on all the stuff that counts to me. I'm actually excited that this door has opened. Altho I prefer Ron, I'd gladly and happily vote for Rand should that occasion turn up.
I view Rand as a seed of
I view Rand as a seed of Liberty. We need to plant into the establishment to grow. Be patient. We are closer than you know.
deliciously disingenuous
The comment I posted following the article: To say that Ron Paul will not seek to be nominated from the floor seems deliciously disingenuous. The role of the elected delegates is to determine by vote who will lead the party. So it follows that nominations arise from them.
"Ron Paul has given up."
FALSE.
One of the biggest tennants of the Liberty Movement is self-reliance versus reliance on others. If we want Ron Paul to be POTUS, we need to do the work. If this message is not something a liberty-minded individual cannot grasp, then (s)he is not ready for the responsibility of a life of Liberty.
The conspiracy theories about death threats towards Paul/his family, and plants in his campaign team are _IRRELEVANT_. Ron Paul knows what he's doing, and if you've been paying attention, you know what to do as well.

Ron Has Been Honest
And has stated many times that he doesn't go to sleep at night dreaming of becoming POTUS.
He's been fighting for OUR rights these many years...he was labeled:
"The Reluctant Candidate" some time ago in a news story.
BUT:
He is willing to do this on our behalf if WE are successful.
The ball is in OUR court.....

The other Republican candidate nominated Paul as next President!
After even the other Republican candidate nominated Paul as next President? !!! What are we fighting for? !!! Don't ask me...
What's this country fighting for? Fish Cheer, Woodstock, 1969 - Country Joe McDonald.
Go Fish!

Keep on keeping on!
Dr. Paul's reluctance
I know a lot of us are praying for a miracle in Tampa. What would be more fitting for a man who has never sought glory or power to be "carried" to the nomination? Whatever happens I am so proud of the liberty movement. America has been given a clear and stark choice. Whichever way our country goes we know that we were on the right side of history and have nothing to be ashamed of.
To all the insipid masses who care less about liberty than their fragile present comforts: Your luke-warm passionless existence has perfectly served in conformity to the system that has destroyed your future. I doubt you will ever have the courage and honesty to admit the truth to yourselves, but if you do I hope you weep as we the defenders of liberty have for the senseless tragedy of the downfall of America. The crucial difference between our sorrow and yours will be the regret you feel for being lazy stupid slaves when you could have stood up for the principles of truth at the crossroads our of country's destiny.
