Benton: ‘Dr. Paul will not seek to be nominated from the floor.’

[ Tampa Bay Online: ] - Ron Paul has announced he'll seek a positive, non-confrontational stance from his campaign during the convention, and even will snub some gatherings planned by supporters because his campaign isn't controlling them.

Paul campaign chairman Jesse Benton wouldn't discuss negotiations between the two camps or the timing of [Rand] Paul's speech, but said, "We have been told that it will be a very prominent time." Benton said by email that Ron Paul is not expected to speak, but that Romney representatives "are working with us (on) other ways to recognize and honor Ron at the convention.

"Dr. Paul will not seek to be nominated from the floor," he added.

Ron Paul new what he was up against 30 years ago, also.

That fact did not stop him from getting to this point. He didn't compromise or cave-in along the way..

He stayed within the law

I'd say going from LP to GOP was quite a jump from outside to inside the establishment where he invited us to join him.

Now those who did not join him inside are ranting and raging but they have no one but themselves to blame. I'm doing what Ron Paul asked ALL of us to do, and Rand is as much a guilding light as Ron Paul. Many here didn't do want Ron Paul asked and have no intention to. That's fine but slamming those of us who did what Ron Paul asked, that ain't right.

Things have changed tremendously in 30 years, but those who are not willing to come inside the ring and fight this good fight are no different than those 30 years ago... swingin' at straw men.

Video?

Rumors have it that Ron Paul's "speaking role" will be a video mash-up, pre-approved by the GOP PTB. If so, what a bunch of scaredy cats. Afraid Ron Paul might say something inflammatory like "War is heck. And expensive."

Jesse says Ron Paul will not seek to be nominated. Of course not. Why scare the scaredy cats? But you have not heard him asking delegates not to do it, now have you? Delegates, if you nominate him, he will gladly speak. If the convention drafts him, he will speak at his inauguration. That is my prediction. The only way to prove me wrong is to MAKE THAT NOMINATION!

The very most important

The very most important message in this article is that Ron Paul can be nominated from the floor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Go delegates... get er done!

Ron Paul

will not seek the nomination from the floor......but the Delegates will! Ron Paul is not going to make a stink about...we will! I can tell you this, Maine's delegation is going down to represent the people of Maine and nominate Ron Paul...period

Right on....

Right on....

In 1796 Washington decided

In 1796 Washington decided not to run for a third presidential term. He wrote that he was "tired of public life" and "devoutly [strongly] wished for retirement." He also wanted to remind Americans that the people were the country's true leaders.
With the help of Alexander Hamilton and James Madison, Washington wrote his Farewell Address. In it he spoke about what he believed were the greatest dangers to the American republic. Among these were the dangers of foreign ties and political conflicts at home. Washington warned against forming permanent ties with other countries because choosing sides could draw the United States into war.
He also worried about growing political conflicts within the nation. Washington believed that disagreements between political groups weakened government. Political unity, he said, was a key to national success. Washington left office warning the nation to work out its differences and protect its independence. Washington also warned against too much public debt. He thought the government should try not to borrow money. He wanted future generations to be protected from debt.
He concluded his speech by looking forward to his retirement and praising his country. "I anticipate… the sweet enjoyment… of good laws under a free government, the ever favorite object of my heart."

Mr. President, it is natural to man to indulge in the illusions of hope. We are apt to shut our eyes against a painful truth, and listen to the song of that siren till she transforms us into beasts.
-Patrick Henry

But at least he

was allowed to serve as POTUS - Ron Paul has been prevented from such an endeavor not because the people did not want him but because the establishment decided he wasn't good for business.

The law cannot make a wicked person virtuous…God’s grace alone can accomplish such a thing.

Time for plan B

Better start focusing on keeping that plastic POS out of the WH if you want to send the GOP a REAL message.....

"If ever time should come, when vain and aspiring men shall possess the highest seats in Government, our country will stand in need of its experienced patriots to prevent its ruin."

Please be more specific

The GOP POS or the DNC POS?

Ron Paul has not dropped out

Ron Paul has not dropped out and the votes have not been counted.... It is still up to the delegates who go to TAMPA.

The establishment may be twisting the campaigns arm but, he is still standing and in the race..... It's up to YOU the delegates.... and WE the people....

I know I'll be downvoted but

I know I'll be downvoted but if he isn't going to fight....he needs to drop out.

Wake up... He is fighting...

Wake up... He is fighting... That is why he hasn't dropped out... Do you even start to understand what he is up against?

I hope your right but

I hope your right but announcing via his right hand man Bention that he doesn't even want to nominated and dissing a rally spontaneously organized by his supporters isn't exactly a way to build morale. We'll see what happens at the convention.

What you are saying doesn't

What you are saying doesn't do morale any good....

Stop and think about how tight of a rope the campaign and Ron Paul are walking. Not many people go up against the powers behind the federal reserve and live to talk about it.

The message is very clear "Ron Paul can be nominated from the floor." If that doesn't motivate delegates nothing will.........

Big let down from this campaign

I feel in many ways the grassroots have been let down and that is one of the reasons why I have decieded not to go to Tampa. But also our Liberty group here in Tn is going to be campaigning and working for a candidate that is running for the US senate against the incumb ent Repuklacan bailout Bob Corker our guy is Dr Shaun Crowell and he is running as a Libertarian and is a very strong candidate, when I get a second I will post some more info on Dr Crowell.

In Liberty Dan
Only Ron Paul 2012

Are you a delegate?

If so, better go.

uhmmm... you new here? the grassroots and the campaign have

uhmmm... you new here? the grassroots and the campaign have always been separated. This campaign was at least a bit LESS contentious between the official campaign and the grassroots.

Instead of signing off with IN LIBERTY and typing in Only Ron Paul 2012 while proclaiming that you are not going to Tampa - why don't you watch the film:

FOR LIBERTY and see some of the gang that was around the first time Ron Paul ran when EVERYBODY said he cannot win and NOBODY knew what the heck he was taking about.

We are all learning. Maybe elections (the way we currently run them) are not the way this stuff gets solved. Maybe its about awareness. Maybe its about changing the world one person at a time. And Maybe your one person's body showing up in Tampa will at least effect some other individuals and make them more aware that there really are real people out there that do resonate with PEACE, PROSPERITY, AND LIBERTY. That the WAR THIRSTY BLOOD CULT called the GOP will not go unopposed. And Maybe everyone will see that The United States of America is still here.

So you are going to give up?

So you are going to give up? Amazing things can still happen in Tampa....

...

I love how people carelessly throw around damning accusations like "traitor" or "mole".

Unhappy with the fate of the campaign? BLAME YOURSELF not Jesse Benton. Jesse is doing what he is TOLD by a big group of people formed by Dr. Ron Paul. If you have a complaint, complain to Ron.

Look, they *knew* Ron couldn't win. They aren't delusional. They are in politics and strategically working for the best interests of libertarianism. Everyday. In the real world. Hard work.

And then random Internet "supporters" just insult you. What a fun job Jesse must have. Have some faith please, or go join your local Republican party. Go do something rather than insult people on the Internet and promote grandiose conspiracy theories.

This makes sense

Everyone has to understand, this is Dr. Paul's style. He is NOT confrontational, at least not like this. This matches his style. Dr. Paul is one to wage the fight in the minds of the people. He does not like disorder. Dr. Paul is meek, humble, reserved, and confident. He has never wanted to win the battle through force. His strategy has always been to win it through ideas taking root in the minds of people who desire to be free. And, if you think about it, that's the ONLY way the liberty message can win. You can't FORCE liberty on someone, that automatically makes it something other than liberty. I don't think we should really be too surprised by this. I am as sad as anyone that we got shat on. We may lose this battle, but we truly are winning the war!

I believe that Ron Paul would

I believe that Ron Paul would expect to be nominated by the fire he has started. It is up to the delegates. The votes are yet to be counted. Stand up and be counted!

I say we fight them every

I say we fight them every inch o the way. Give the media something to ooo and aaaaah at. We play by the rules, but seriously work at stirring things up. we can't make this easy on the Romney folks.

Is it just me, or do these 2

Is it just me, or do these 2 statements contradict each other?

Paul campaign chairman Jesse Benton wouldn't discuss negotiations between the two camps or the timing of Paul's speech, but said, "We have been told that it will be a very prominent time."

Benton said by email that Ron Paul is not expected to speak, but that Romney representatives "are working with us (on) other ways to recognize and honor Ron at the convention.

1st -says he is speaking and it will be at a prominent time.
2nd - says he is not speaking but will acknowledge him in other ways.

It would appear that there

It would appear that there will be a video montage of Ron Paul speeches from days gone by, edited by the establishment of course.

wrong Paul

he means Rand's speaking spot, not Ron's.

Wow, didn't even think of

Wow, didn't even think of that. It's really gross the way they talk in code sometimes.

We will nominate him from the floor. This isn't top down

like the Romney campaign.
I think it was a mistake for the campaign to put this information out there. Either it didn't need to be said or it was said to discourage or it was said under political pressure. Either way, I think it was a bad call but it matters little. This is a movement, not a man anymore.
