Is not the VP supposed to be 'nominated' ?

This question is for those who are really on top of all the party rules: How is it we have come to the point where the man who is not even officially the presidential nominee yet (Romney) just gets to "pick" who the VP 'nominee' will be? Is not the VP slot also subject to the will of the people at the convention? This is all nuts to me. We went from a system that the Founders created where the runner-up in the presidential race automatically became VP, (and President of the Senate) to now, where the people have no voice at all in selecting the VP... At least, under the Founder's system, the minory who lost the Presidential race still had some representation at the Federal level. I think it was beautiful, and I do not understand why it was changed.

I decided to face facts,

now that the two parties dominate the political scene, Constitutional elections are gone.
I don't even know why they bother with primaries anymore since there is no challenger for the incumbent and the other side rigs the voting machines. Then in November the machines get rigged again so the candidate of TPTB wins.
The entire election process has become a farce. Rules are changed to suit the situations as they happen. The voter decides nothing.
But, with that said, I still believe in miracles and the power of prayer and I do believe Ron Paul can win it in Tampa.
Go Ron Pul delegates!!!

If Tyranny and Oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy.
James Madison

the VP will be nominated at the convention

If the delegates pick someone besides Paul Ryan, then that person will become the VP nominee. But they always vote for the person chosen by the Presidential nominee. They will pick Paul Ryan.

I have been

asking this same question on blogs. How can a person who isn't the nom pick a VP and PRETEND to be the nom like ORomney is doing. Even Obama is in on this charade calling and congratulating ORomney for being the nom.

Up is down and front is back and left is right and it's clear we have a modern dictatorship where it's all a pretend vote like third world countries have.

NOPE to the DOPE in the people's house.

Keepin' it real.

Yes, but it's been ignored....

I'm not ignoring this post--

(no comments yet); I just think that many of *us* are tired of saying that Romney makes up his own rules and always has, so why be surprised?

it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--
