Texas Women are Crossing the Border...For Abortions

http://austinist.com/2012/08/14/texas_women_are_crossing_the...

In the past year, Texas women watched as lawmakers slashed funding for family planning and passed the "Sonogram Law" which, you may recall, forces women seeking abortions to undergo a sonogram a full 24 hours before the procedure. In retrospect, the 2011 legislative session basically operated as a reminder to Texas women that while we can have babies, we can't have a voice.

Now, in reaction to the lack of available family planning resources, New American Media is reporting on women in Texas border towns who travel to Mexico to obtain Misoprostol (also known as Cytotec), an ulcer medication that, when taken in high doses, can terminate unwanted pregnancies in the first nine weeks. The drug works quickly, is (relatively) cheap and available without a prescription.

They go over and get an OTC ulcer medication that aborts fetus

too. They take a lot of it and it causes "miscarriage". I think that would only work in the early weeks.

That's pathetic.

What you're "basically" saying is that women are going across the border so that they won't have to see the little PERSON that they want to kill.

Has our culture REALLY descended to these hideous depths?

No one should be forced to have a sonogram - or any

medical procedure - under any circumstance.

Except in the case that there

Except in the case that there is a human unborn life involved. This human life has no voice. Someone has to give that unborn child some kind of say. If that woman wants to get meds from somewhere, at least she is not making the abortionist or the taxpayer complicit in this taking of life. She is doing it all on her own. She is solely responsible for her decision.

I disagree that there should be exceptions re sonograms, but

if a woman chooses to have an abortion, I agree that others should not be forced to assist.

The sonogram is one last and

The sonogram is one last and final plea so that the woman understands that this is the last time she will see her unborn child before it dies. It's about giving that unborn child its last chance to live. No one else seems to be able to protect them.

Except for the fact that at

Except for the fact that at 8-9 weeks, its just begining to look like a baby. Before then its basically still a clump of cells and not much to look at.
I do think however that its very poor planning(except in medical emergencies) on the part of a woman not to take precautions if they dont wish to get pregnant and then wait until things are far along to get it "fixed". It shouldnt take more than a month to notice something is different.(heck should only take a couple weeks, a woman is most likely to get pregnant in the week before her period starts)

article: "basically"

"'basically' operated as a reminder to Texas women that while we can have babies, we can't have a voice. "

basically=in my interpretation i guess. love how some women speak a different language

a two paragraph article summarizes the whole issue? seriously? does law supervise this process for all privately funded procedures or only public "family planning" (wtf that is even)? should i say 'so tax payers can pay for your abortion but they can't have a say on how to do it'? my way of having the "basically", basically.
