Rand Paul On Mitt Romney's VP Pick

Here is what Rand Paul had to say about Romney's VP pick.

"The pick of Paul Ryan solidifies the Republican ticket's commitment to taking on the pressing issues like the deficit, entitlement reform and tax reform," Sen. Paul said. "Congressman Ryan's values and commitment to fixing our fiscal mess stands in stark contrast to Vice President Biden - and presents a clear choice to the American people."

Here is how he voted on

Here is how he voted on Israel aid:

He was part of the unanimous consent vote for a Libya No Fly Zone:

Note the wording of the resolution: "Urges: (1) the Gadhafi regime to abide by Security Council Resolution 1970, and (2) the Security Council to take such further action to protect civilians in Libya from attack, including the possible imposition of a no-fly zone over Libyan territory."

Even with these two votes,

Even with these two votes, you still can't in no way, shape, or form argue against the fact that the OVERWHELMING MAJORITY of his votes are pro-liberty.

But for the sake of argument, both of those votes were passed by unanimous consent. You can't say "Rand Paul voted for/yes" - thats incorrect. But at the same time you can't say he voted no. He just didn't vote, period.

And on the second (libya) vote, that was done via email, and a response was necessary to object. Except that email was sent with less than a minute left in the day - aka making it pretty much impossible to object.

The only two bad votes that he voted FOR, were the iran sanctions.

I'm more than willing to

I'm more than willing to concede that Rand is the best Senator, though Amash is better in the House. Having said that, Rand is NOT one of us. We do neither him, nor us, a favor when he see him as part of our movement or as a potential "leader." Yes, he can be a valuable ally on specific issues but that's all. Rand is too-self interested and opportunistic (his decision to support Romney on the hannity show is proof of that) to have any potential to be a leader for the liberty movement.

Wake up

He can't endorse Romney then come down on his VP choice and still be an "establishment player".

So what will Rand Paul say during his speech in Tampa? HE is going to heap accolades on the team the GOP has assembled. Any comments he makes will then indirectly transfer to Romney/Ryan by association.

Just another step towards being fully co-opted. Rand is not Ron.

Maybe everybody has to learn

Maybe everybody has to learn this lesson the hard way. The lesser of two evils is still evil, Rand.

"Presents a clear choice to the American People."

This seems to be the standard GOP talking point. Pat Buchanan also said it.

What a wonderful choice

Theoretically balancing the budget in 27 years instead of theoretically balancing the budget in 30 years.

To all the Rand fans...

- Respect is earned, not gifted through family ties.

- Rand is the one dividing us, not us!

- Trojan horse? You underestimate the enemy, ESPECIALLY because of who his father is.

- A different tactic? What was wrong with his father's honest approach? After all he's the one who built this movement and is the very reason you're here now reading this.

If you lie down with dogs, you get up with fleas.

If men are good, you don't need government; if men are evil or ambivalent, you don't dare have one.

I'm Sorry Ron Paul...

But your son Rand Paul is a plain ol' douche-nozzle politician.

Say it ain't so

At a time when RP delegates are scraping up money to head to Tampa and other duly elected delegates are being illegally replaced by the Romney Machine it is shameful for this man to be praising the aforementioned regime. This along with Rand's palsy Walsy relationship with Sean Hannity who has done everything he could to nullify Ron Paul is despicable. He mistakenly believes that if he kisses up to this crowd they'll let him win next time around. What a fool! They will stab him in the back along with anyone else that a threat to war machine. This proves on thing: the next leader of the movement does not need to have the same surname as its founder.

Rand Who?

he is consistent.

F U Rand

Who convinced you that endorsing Romney was a good idea? Grow a pair, twerp.

Hey GOP, where's my vote?

I understand the reasoning,

I understand the reasoning, but this doesn't prevent me from getting a foul taste in my mouth.

I'll await final judgement until I see his future voting record. As long as his voting record is more perfect than his words, I'll support him. But the moment he starts seriously deviating from a perfect voting record......

He already deviated

pretty much - TARP, Patriot Act, Iraq... no reason to believe it will be better in the future. I mean Ryan.

Here is what Rand Paul ...

Did someone say something? There's just a buzzing sound.

Rand has INFILTRATED the establishment..Time to understand this!

He is not what any of you assume he is, so lets get that point very clear!!

Rand Paul is literally infiltrating the establishment as quick as possible to disband things like the Patriot Act, Warner Act, Graham Leach Bailey Act and hosts of other abuses.

Remember when the other week he gave an interview saying he had seen "gazillions" of abuses of American's legal rights in a State Dept. computer & transcripts?!?

Think he would have ever gotten access to to that if he had played Mr Nice Guy? He's playing down low. Infiltrating the establishment to bring the entire thing to a halt!!

He has the capabilities to do it unlike his father, and you can just see on his face the total insincerity of his elevating Paul Ryan. Ryan's a empty suit liberal codswallop & everyone except the establishment knows it.

Let's assume you're right and

Let's assume you're right and Rand is all about infiltrating the GOP for the sake of the liberty movement and that's why he's endorsing the enemy.

Isn't this kinda like Bush putting aside his free market principles in order to save the free market?

You know what happens to a politician when he turns away from his principles, regardless of whether he thinks it's the right thing to do?

He ceases to inspire.

Ah....the secret plan theory.

Ah....the secret plan theory. Was Rand's total failure to lift a finger for his dad at the crucial state conventions part of this secret plan?

the word "unlike"

makes me downvote you.

How are we supposed to know the difference?

How do we know the difference between Rand Paul being a sellout to the GOP and Ron Paul OR Rand Paul infiltrating the GOP with Liberty and Constitution being foremost in his mind?

Words and actions are the only ways to tell, IMO. We don't have any secret link to Ron Paul. Only by his words and actions do we know him. It is the same with Rand Paul. His words and actions are how we know (AND JUDGE) him. The same way.

Voting record.

Voting record.

I'm not christian

but to me it seems the Jesus words from Luke 6:43-5 fit here.

Thanks tumetuestumefai... There is truth there.

LK 6:43 For there is no good tree that brings forth rotten fruit; nor again a rotten tree that brings forth good fruit.

LK 6:44 For each tree is known by its own fruit. For people don't gather figs from thorns, nor do they gather grapes from a bramble bush.

LK 6:45 The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings out that which is good, and the evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings out that which is evil, for out of the abundance of the heart, his mouth speaks.

We do have a link to Ron Paul

Yeah right

Rand will disband all those acts like Romney/Ryan will cut the size of government. What a bunch of bull.

Ron Paul 2012

Rand has again proven himself to be a "politician"

And this is what Ron Paul has to say:

IMO Rand seems under some pressure to do this.

In the meantime, this floor speech should give you a sense of how the elder Paul feels about Ryan and his budget:
"Mr. Speaker, listening to the claims of the opponents of this budget, one would think it represented a full-frontal assault on the welfare state and the entitlements system. However, in fact—with all respect to Shakespeare—the sound and fury over this budget ultimately signifies nothing. Under this budget, the federal government will spend $3.5 trillion next year, while under President Obama's budget the federal government will spend $3.8 trillion. The small difference between the congressional budget and the President's hardly seem to justify the over-heated rhetoric we hear emanating from both sides of the aisle.

Even under the most optimistic scenario, this supposedly radical plan does not balance the federal budget until my one-year old great-granddaughter will be in college. Under less optimistic assumptions, my great granddaughter will be almost 30 before she sees a balanced federal budget. This assumes that Congress will adhere to this year's budget in future years, a dubious assumption since we cannot bind future Congresses to abide by our spending plans." Rand needs to move back in with Ron Paul in D.C.

Rand: [Ryan] "presents a clear choice to the American people."
My ass. Please wake-up Rand and fast? Go talk to your father about Liberty and being faithful to the Constitution not sometimes, but all of the time.

So now we...

have to look for the contrast in the VP's. Pppppt.
