If we let them get by with this then we need

to chew on it for the next ten years.
Ron Paul still running for president. Santorum completely out. Santorum gets a speaking spot and the guy who is still running gets nothing. Does that not hang in your craw? It hangs in my craw and I will be riding the back of the Republican Party until the cows come in.
I will also be riding the back of the Republican Party in Tampa as a Delegate to the RNC. Will it do any good? Probably not but they are going to have to put up with me. I will inform every one I come into contact with. I am already sending out emails and will continue to do so.

I enjoyed reading the comments about Don Imus

How did this make front page news? Who the heck was that dude? I get really sick of the media making Texans out to be shoot em up yahoo's with cowboy hats and shit kicker boots. Is this some douche in Texas? Not too keen on the message being presented this way. Why is this on the front page?

Love Stossel, and I enjoy his

Love Stossel, and I enjoy his optimism. Big question though, what show is this on? This clown with the cowboy hat and the whole background getup looks pretty foolish for a "fox business" program. It looks like reality T.V.

Just makes me pissed off when freedom watch was cancelled and they still air this crap.

April or June? The ticker

April or June? The ticker thing says "June Defecit..." but you're right it's still old.

Why is this front page news???

Seems too many stories are making front page news these days...narrowing focus / message might help ... just a suggestion :)

Dream on

John. I love you and the work you have done to enhance freedom in the world but I think you are a bit naive about Dr. Paul speaking at the convention. That kinda implies that you believe the RNC is operating by some sort of rules at the convention, and they are, kinda. The rules are whatever fits the situation and agenda at the time to maintain or enhance their control of the convention.

The RNC is the Establishment's flip side of the DNC. One side of the coin is DNC the other is RNC but they are the SAME coin. Key word(s) = Establishment, political power elite, & military-industrial-banking-MSM-Wall Street complex, it's all the same profiteers playing. They will kill to maintain the status quo. The convention will be manipulated by the RNC to insure that Ron Paul's name is never mentioned on the dais. Any appearance of Dr. Paul could be seen as the neocons accepting his ideas about the fed, foreign policy, Iran and the nuke question, eliminating foreign aid, blowback, etc. etc. etc.

If he declined...

They probably told him: "If we let you speak, here is your script and don't you dare stray from it or we'll cut the television feed"

Real eyes realize real lies

We want our country back

Every year is a year for Ron Paul!

We all know of course, that

We all know of course, that Rand slavishly promised to submit a script and will not deviate from the approved text. It is very sad but that is not even a question here! That's just the sort of man Rand is.

So What?

While at face value this seems like a positive development, let's put this in context.

If recent history is any guide - in terms of Ron's treatement by the state and national level GOP organizations, by the so-called conservative media (that is, Faux News), and by the rest of the MSM - anything that Ron Paul says at the RNC will fall on completely deaf ears. With the hosing our delegate slates are getting of late - it's gonna be a slim fan base sitting in those seats.

C'mon, at any convention where the likes of Giuliani, McCain, Santorum, BO Reilly or Hannity will be present, Ron will get not just no respect but disrespect. Even if the de facto nominee says 'make it so'.

I don't know why, but at best, they're throwing the R3volution a bone. Ron will deliver the same 'true conservative' message that's he's been delivering for his entire political career - non-interventionism, sound money, and limited government. While it would be good to see that form of guts - unwavering adherence to the principles of liberty in the face of adversity - thrown in the face of the assembled Republican masses, it will be to no avail. Those guys have consistently rejected that message time and again.

If this is Ron's chance for a few parting shots - I say, let 'er rip, Ron.

Ron Paul Will Never, Ever Be Allowed To Speak At The RNC

He has never been looked at by the GOP as one of them, nor will he ever be. This is the cold hard to swallow facts. Even if he is nominated, which I doubt he will be, The RNC still may not allow him the 15 minute speech which has been afforded to all those nominated in the past..

It pains me to say it, but Romney will be coronated without any upstaging from the Ron Paul campaign or Ron Paul himself. The media and the GOP have already gone to far in informing the public that Mitt Romney is going to be the GOP nominee.

The campaign for liberty has been a fine way to pursue liberty candidates, However, the GOP is corrupt as is the democratic party. There will never be a liberty candidate voted in as president unless he or she is nominated in such a way that offers no allegance to any group or political party.

Quote: "Beware of political parties." ~ Geo. Washington, farwell address, 1797.

Washington pleaded for American political neutrality, that citizens not be forced to choose between political alternatives, but rather choose their leaders on the basis of merit and reputation..

Rand paul has crippled our movement by endorsing a statist, establishment candidate. A man know for lies, distortions and dirty tricks. If Rand Paul believes that working for the lesser of two evils, he has not learned the lessons of the past.

I suggest that Rand either return to his private practice in Bowling Green, Kentucky or thrown in completely with the GOP establishment as Demint, Lee and the rest have done...

I am thorough disgusted in what has transpired in recent months. I have no other answers than to pursue the liberties that we have lost by some other means. The campaign for liberty has been so severely weakened, I doubt it can be repaired, especially with the retirement of its orginal leader, Ron Paul..

He won't speak unless he's

He won't speak unless he's nominated, or unless he agrees to endorse Rom, or unless Rom falls behind emperor O by double digits and gets desperate.

I must be willing to give up what I am in order to become what I will be. Albert Einstein

I heard they did ask him, but they told him what he could'nt say

So he declined the invite and chose to say what he wants at his rally.

I would agree, this is the most plausible explanation

for whats going on.I could totally see Romney making it a prerequisite that he control the message.Especially after the way he required the delegates to sign his pledge to vote for him. And of course I could see The Dr. not submitting to such tyranny. Ron's rally will be a better party anyway with better speakers, and a better crowd.

Liberty is attractive - tyranny repells

If Romney held convictions that were pro-liberty, Dr. Paul could cite some moral alignment on principal, and speak openly.

But because R&R are so spiritually, and therefor constitutionally impoverished; the neo-con establishment cannot let any appeal to conscience be heard among them at THEIR convention.

Stossel's only guessing by some populist presumption

He answers Imus with no real expectation other than that he, "got a lot of votes"! Huh? And then he lumps Dr. Paul in with Gov. Johnson, as though that was likely to give Paul a welcome place on the convention stage, right?

I thought this was weak of Stossel, who usually tries to investigate his stories better than he did here.

As for your posting, Ralph; I believe that that is most likely exactly what happened.

This doesn't mean anything

Why is this even up here? Like Stossel has any inside info on the speaker selection. Plus they've already released the list of speakers and Dr. Paul is not on it.

I agree

It just makes too much sense that he would speak at the convention, which is why he won't.

Love the down votes. XD

They have to let Ron Paul speak at the convention....

Or this is what all of America has to look forward to:

Delegates, Americans, tell every last one you can to flood the halls inside Florida and make sure Ron Paul gets his speaking slot.

It is time to hear the truth, the truth about our failed incompetent government and what Obama has planned for America!

And Romney...
