To all going to the Ron Paul Festival...

I'm headed to Tampa on Thursday and staying by the State Fairgrounds. I'm not really familiar with the area but would love to meet up with some like minded libertarians!

Is there a meetup happening, any suggestions on where to go. I'm rolling solo on this because I feel it is imparative that we need to show the world that THIS COUNTRY does not support Mitt Romney, nor did we have a fair and equal voice in the nomination process.

So, for any and all who are attending, I would greatly appreciate some ideas on where to go and grab some drinks and get fired up for the festival!

For Liberty!

Stay away from the dangerous

Stay away from the dangerous areas. Sulpher Springs in Tampa [near the zoo], stay on the main strip in Ybor City [warning, cameras on every street corner in Ybor City] and definitely stay away from South St. Petersburg on the other side of the bridge. The Black Panthers intend to be out in force during the convention.

Thanks for the heads up!

Looks like Ybor City is the closest...what's up with the warning about the cameras?

Viva la R3VOLution!!!

Just a warning in case you

Just a warning in case you don't feel like surveillance without a warrant. The cameras in Ybor run everyone on the street through facial recognition software. On a Friday and Saturday night, they close the street off for a huge block party as its all bars. Its also very dangerous on those nights with stabbings etc.

What's the area like

around the camp grounds? I'll check the tampa map out to make sure to avoid those areas.

And the good areas would be, perhaps to grab a drink with people convening on tampa as well?

Viva la R3VOLution!!!

Downtown Tampa proper is

Downtown Tampa proper is pretty safe, near USF, as is most of the businesses on the main street near the waterfront since that's all been redone. I just wouldn't go off the beaten path in that area. Generally, the outskirts of the city toward the west and the north are safe, i.e, heading toward Clearwater or north toward Bush Gardens/Temple Terrace.
