Romney wants FED audit - could cause GOP Convention fight

Presidential candidate Mitt Romney said he believes the nation's central bank should be audited so the citizens know what it is doing. This statement represents defacto if not direct support for Congressman Ron Paul's signature issue, and a political calculation that Governor Romney undoubtedly hopes will help him with Paul's supporters in November.

This is an issue that highlights the different priorities of the populist and elite constituencies within the Republican Party. More importantly, it pits the Independents and the Libertarians against the Progressives in both political parties and their corporate media benefactors, that support the powerful alliance between central government and central banking. Politically speaking, support for this issue from Romney and Ryan make it more difficult for the Obama team to portray them as cow-towing to corporations and banking elites at the expense of the middle class.

Mitt Romney...

More flip-flops than Key West during spring break.

Wasn't the Fed already

Wasn't the Fed already auidted for its actions between 2008 and 2010?

That is when its most horrific actions took place. We saw all the money they gave away. Yet there was little outcry over it. The periods before that are not going to reveal anything as dramatic; I don't think the public outcry will be there.

partial audit

It's my understanding that the previous audit only skimmed the surface, and for just that time period, and we were lucky to have gotten anything meaningful out of it at all. A full audit would go deeper and farther back, potentially revealing more illicit activities than they can even remember to cover up. We already have a pretty good idea based on common sense that they're secretly funding both sides to wars, the MSM, state and federal politicians, and all kinds of interesting organizations. It needs to be shown as fact that the Fed isn't functioning merely as a bank, but as a world power that has political and monetary control over nearly everything, more so than the President, Congress, FBI and CIA put together.

Flip Flop Mitt
