Mark - as you know I am pretty Unconventional and exceptional! :-)
"And thus world wide."
I don't know if you or any of the Republicans that are going to Tampa are aware of this:
Former CIA boss George HW Bush while Vice President started this organization. I believe this relates to his famous NEW WORLD ORDER speech.
Many people are wondering how influential the International Democrat Union is for the Republican Platform this year - or previous years.
I know this unconventional woman is curious.

Are there any Unconventional Women among Us?

With an historic number of women running for Congress, the opportunity for dramatic change in our country - and thus worldwide - is almost palpable. As chair and co-chair of Political Parity, we (Swanee and Kerry) share your commitment to amplify women's representation in high-level office. Our motivation is not women's rights, or even fairness, but the importance of drawing from 100% of our country's talent pool. In addition, we believe in the ability of women (especially when they reach critical mass) to work across divides. In fact, given our respective political affiliations, our collaboration is testament to a fundamental belief that women can break the deadlock that is driving our country to a financial, social, and political brink.
It's a sobering fact: Women make up only 17 percent of the US Congress and hold just six of America's governorships. With the Republican National Convention only weeks away, we must be a strong, unified voice in the current conversation, leveraging our collective impact in support of visionary women shaping politics.
With that charge in mind, we hope you'll join us for "Unconventional Women," an invitation-only think tank hosted by Political Parity (a nonpartisan initiative of Hunt Alternatives Fund). This highly anticipated and substantive forum will bring together more than 100 Republican leaders, renowned for their expertise and commitment to advance women's presence in the Party. The event will be hosted at the:
Tuesday, August 28, 2012
2 PM to 6 PM
615 Channelside Drive
Tampa, FL 33602
Commencing the discussion will be Siobhan (Sam) Bennett (Name It. Change It.) and Christine O'Donnell (former Senate candidate from Delaware), who will examine the role that gender-biased media played in Christine's race. Notable researchers Bob Carpenter (Chesapeake Beach Consulting), Debbie Walsh (Center for American Women and Politics) and Denise Baer (Institute for Women's Policy Research) will highlight new findings on why women in mid-level office decide not to try to move higher. We'll brainstorm explanations for the disproportion of women in clusters (E.g., eight of seventeen women Senators are in pairs - two each from Maine, New Hampshire, California, and Washington). British MP, Brooks Newmark will offer an international perspective on how his group, Women2Win, increased the number of Conservative Party female MPs from 10 to 49 in 2010's election.
This think tank is a step toward relaxing the ossified face of American politics. Follow the link here to register before August 23, for "Unconventional Women." For additional information (or to suggest additional invitees), contact Kate_Donaghey@huntalternatives.org or 617-995-1914.
See you in a few weeks!
