Help the Oregon alternate delegate contest - PLEASE contact your national committeeman/woman/chair now!

Update: DESPERATE CALL TO ACTION
I am asking everyone who supports Ron Paul to call & text & email & facebook msg & tweet your own State GOP National committeeman / committeewoman and chair today/tomorrow and speak to them on our behalf, they sit on the RNC and will be making this decision! If you know anyone on the RNC credentialing committee, please contact them also.

The RNC members get to decide this matter on Thursday! The Credentialing Committee is the last gasp if the RNC members fail!

The short story is that ORP chairman Allen Alley conspired to steal alternate delegate spots that Ron Paul supporters won fair and square in Oregon. After Alley saw that the establishment was losing, he stalled the conventions and then invented a 'joint convention' theory, and claimed authority he does not have by any bylaws to force the Oregon district conventions to adjourn at an arbitrary 5pm (for the first time in history of Oregon conventions). He then proceeds to hold a meeting for which no proper notice was given, at which he and his executive board overthrow the vote of Oregon's elected precinct committee people and appoint Alley's friends, like Kevin Mannix and Greg Leo, who LOST the PCP vote at the conventions, as alternates. Then, Alley proceeded to use his appointed ringers to 'elect' himself chair of the delegation, and to put his friends in the committee positions. Then, he emailed insults and libel about the elected alternate delegates to the entire Oregon central committee (hundreds of community leaders), accusing them of Occupy & George Soros ties (completely false).

Please ask your committeeman/woman and chair to DEMAND that Oregon's duly elected alternates be seated, instead of Alley's appointed alternates

full details of the contest & next steps are below
-------------------------------------------
Here's an update on the Oregon delegate contest.

11 alternates delegates contested on their own behalf, and the Ron Paul campaign legal contested on behalf of 21 alternate delegates. The paperwork and legal and changing rules and cheating made this SO hard to do, but with help, we did it! Some friends and I were able to help with the individual contests listed here: http://www.ordelegates2012.org/resources/credentials-contest/

Here is the Ron Paul campaign contest, my friends and I and all the delegates also helped them gather evidence and affidavits when they asked for our help.
http://www.ordelegates2012.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/Or...

The RNC committee on contests proceeded to consolidate the contests (to hide the face that our individual challenges were not responded to perhaps?). Then they made a recommendation to the RNC on the side of the establishment, Oregon Republican Party chair Allen Alley, quoting his stance and affidavit http://www.ordelegates2012.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/Re... in their 'report' (instead of any relevant rules).

Here is their crappy report: http://www.ordelegates2012.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/RN...

10 alternates objected to the consolidation and to the report, and also the Ron Paul campaign lawyers objected. (documents/objections will be uploaded soon)

The RNC (over our objections) consolidated all of the Oregon contests. There was a hearing over the 'objection to report', it was in Tampa yesterday - RP campaign lawyer defended the Oregon alternates. Lawyer sent us an email saying it went pretty well (if it was a court of law, it would be in the bag). BUT ITS NOT A COURT CASE, the RNC itself will decide as jury!

Next steps:
1. a revised report from the committee on contests goes to the RNC
2. a vote by the members of the RNC
3. if that doesn't go our way, a final contest with the Credentialing Committee.

this all happens this week, so PLEASE HELP US

Things you can do:
Contact your National Committeeman/Committeewoman and Chair from your own state. They are members of the RNC who get to vote during the next stage! Demand that they support the duly elected Oregon alternates, not Allen Alley's appointed friends & cronies.

Here are more details of the Oregon Alternate Delegates contest. http://www.ordelegates2012.org/resources/credentials-contest/ and http://www.ordelegates2012.org

thanks everyone!

email from Nadine Hanhan to RNC members

My name is Nadine Hanhan, and I am a duly elected alternate delegate from Oregon’s 4th Congressional District.

On June 23, I attended the District 4 Convention in Roseburg with fellow Republicans as a precinct committeewoman to vote for delegates, alternates and other elected positions. I was excited to participate, to run as an alternate delegate, to record my video, and to see how our Republic works firsthand. I originally registered Republican as an 18-year-old on Independence Day of 2005, but I have never been as excited to participate in politics until this election. For the first time in my life, I feel like I am contributing, like I am making a difference.
Unfortunately, this is being taken away from me because of a devastating lack of respect for the rule of law.

To put things in perspective, my family has a very unique background. My father is Palestinian but was raised in Jordan. He grew up in poverty and then moved to the United States in his late 20s. He, along with my grandparents and uncles, was a Christian, a minority, living in a predominately Muslim nation. As for my mother, she also grew up in poverty. She is Nicaraguan, and she left her war-torn country after the socialist Sandinista regime took over her country. I can remember her stories of how horrible her nation became after the Sandinistas took over. She knew that if she had stayed, she would not have a chance to gain a better life. They moved to this country to make a better life for themselves and to gain better opportunities. My father never even graduated high school, but now he owns two businesses and has given me and my siblings a life that he never had. As a result, I was able to go to college and graduate school, get a real education, and now I am an economist working in the energy sector.

So you see, there are some very personal reasons why I am shocked that I have been treated this way. I always thought that my history represented everything that America was about.
I could not believe it when I received an e-mail from Allen Alley, the state chairman, with no explanation, no apology, and no legal references stating that I was not chosen as an alternate. I was simply told that I was not elected, when I clearly was. I was there. I heard the vote count. I won! But now I am being unjustifiably ignored, and I don’t understand why. I am being cast aside when I am clearly a person who knows firsthand why we need to take our country back!

Furthermore, I would also like to make it very clear that that I made a pledge to Mitt Romney, so if there are any concerns about candidate preference, that is absurd. I made a pledge, and I will honor it. That is what a Republican does. This letter and my defense are about me standing up for myself as someone who has been unjustly treated. That is not what Republicans are about.

I am a 25-year-old Republican activist, and I deserve to be at the convention. I put in my time, effort, sweat, and heart in running for alternate delegate. There is so much work to be done, so please, consider my case as you vote today.

Respectfully,
Nadine Hanhan

email from Kevin Renfrow to RNC members

Kevin Renfrow sent this email to the members of the RNC. He is a duly elected Oregon alternate who is contesting the credentialing of the appointed Oregon delegates in to his spot.

"Hello,

My name is Kevin Renfrow and I am a duly elected national alternate delegate from Oregon's 5th Congressional District and a presidential elector to the Electoral College.

I'm 23 years old and have been registered Republican since I waited in line for the county clerk's office to open on the morning of my 18th birthday. I became actively involved in the political process a few years ago after waking up to the disregard for the Constitution by our elected officials.

Long story short: Our state chairman has Illegally replaced me and my fellow Oregon alternate delegates with friends, donors, and family members of party officials. After following all of the rules to contest this action, I have not received any of the documents or proof that I requested and is explicitly required under RNC Rules. I am being treated like I don't exist when I should be embraced as the future of the Republican Party.

I respect the rule of law and have taken an oath to fight against all forms of tyranny. I will continue to defend my rights and the rights of all Americans with all my energy.

This is not about candidate preference; I have taken a pledge to support Romney at the convention according to Oregon law and I have every intention to follow my word.

This is about respecting the rule of law, fairness, and integrity. What you will be asked to decide is nothing short of determining if you will reject or embrace tyranny.

I hope you will grant me the respect that I deserve along with every Oregon voter and Republican. Be honorable and investigate this matter before it comes before you.

Steven Winokur wrote this email to the RNC members

Dear Hon. {{FirstName}} {{LastName}},

My name is Steve Winokur. I write to you in my capacity as the ORP's
State Central Committee Delegate representing Benton Co. Oregon
and as one of Oregon's rightfully, Duly Elected At-Large Alternate Delegates
to Tampa. 144 convention credentialed Republican votes.

It is my understanding that you have an opportunity today, Aug 23rd,
to vote to accept or reject the recommendations that the RNC's
Committee on Contests has assembled for Oregon's Duly Elected
Alternate Delegates (contestants) v. Oregon's "installed" Alternate
Delegates (contestees) . The Committee is recommending that you
accept their findings that the ORP Exec. Comm.'s actions should be upheld.
A copy of which is attached for your convenience.

As your fellow Republican, I very much want a convention free from "floor
fights" about the credentials of a minority of State Delegations and the like.
I desire a convention which truthfully presents our beloved Party to the world
as one which not only preaches adherence to the rule of law and the sanctity of
the vote but actually advances such, unlike the Democrats. We need
every means possible to show the American People we are better than the
Democrats. Especially and even when it comes to our internal affairs.

Some in our Party, such as the ORPEC have acted recently, probably with good
intention yet still incorrectly as though two wrongs make a right and
seemingly expect the disenfranchised to happily accept that their most precious
vote can be ignored, then secretly hidden in order to literally install friends,
family and others deemed "close" and "worthy" to go to Tampa who where only
able in many cases to garner single digit vote counts in our five conventions.
1000's across the political spectrum in Oregon have taken note of the ORPECs'
actions with absolute disgust.

Frankly it is embarrassing to our Party here in Oregon. I voted for Chairman
Alley....twice! He is Chairman, in part because of *my* vote. Ironically he seeks
to nullify my 144 votes for Alt. Del. which I'm pretty sure exceed the # of votes
he himself received and happily accepted to become Chairman!

Please help the rest of Oregon see that the RNC nationwide will not uphold
Chairman Alley's misguided though possibly well-meaning actions, based
admittedly!, on a lack of knowledge of rules!

{{FirstName}}, I most urgently request that in your capacity as
{{Custom1}} for {{HomeState}} you please cast a NO vote to NOT accept the
recommendations the Committee on Contests has for Oregon and to seat
Oregon's Duly Elected Alternate Delegates. Your vote for election integrity
will help provide the unity our Party needs to defeat Obama in 2012
and his ideals for many elections to come.

Sincerely,
Steve Winokur
Delegate, Benton Co. Oregon

Scot Trahan wrote this email to the RNC members

Hello,

My name is Scott Trahan and I am a duly elected national alternate delegate from Oregon's 3rd Congressional District.

I am writing you this note because you are about to make a pivotal decision on the matter of the Delegates from Oregon. What's a stake is not just my fellow Delegates and my fates for next week but no less than the honor and prestige of the RNC Committee on Contests.

The RNC Committee on Contests has looked at all the facts and somehow come up with a conclusion that does not take the rules and laws into account. In fact they have made up some new rules and bylaws for the Oregon Republican Party. Their decision is clearly not about the rules being broken otherwise it would have been easy to decide in the Oregon Delegates' favor. It must be something else. My best supposition is local politics of which I am not directly involved.

This is why you are been asked to weigh in on this matter. They RNC Committee on Contests needs you to reverse the decision, that for political reason, they had to make. You, and the other 149 people who are going to make this choice, are the cover for their excuse to undo what is happening. If you look at the facts of the matter and decide to not follow their recommendation I can only imagine that the members of the Committee on Contest will sigh in relief. They will be able to say "well we tried our best to force an outcome, but, we just can't go against the majority." Even the Oregon Chairmen, Allen Alley will be relieved. Everybody gets to walk away from an uncomfortable position having tried their darnedest. This is the best explanation I can come up with for why the "Rule of Law" party is not following it's own rules, and; the simple remedy is to vote against the recommendation and to get it back on track, win - win.

I've been interested in politics since I sneaked up way past my bedtime to watch the Republican Convention in Miami on TV. I thought, WOW! Something really important must be happening. There were all these excited people in suits. I wanted to be part of it! I was six years old. The twig was bent…

I have been an engaged citizen and voter. However, this year I decided I needed to do more to stop my country from tumbling down hill. Clearly, Mr. Obama was a mistake. When I heard the convention was going to be in Florida something clicked in my mind. I felt the pull of the possibility. It was a sign, a call to get on the playing field. That was the moment I decided take responsibility for what's going on in this country and do my part. Unfortunately, I am having to fight with the folks whose side I thought I was on.

Despite all the confusion I was legitimately elected. I have taken a pledge to support Romney at the convention according to Oregon law. Given the opportunity I have every intention of following my word. I am asking you to help fulfill a six-year-old's dream of participating in something of profound importance. It should be an easy decision because I am simply asking you to follow the rules.. Please help get the Committee on Contest out of s difficult situation, and, at the same time do the right thing.

Respectfully,

Scott Trahan
Oregon Alternate Delegate,

Diana Hengerer wrote this letter to the RNC members

Dear Sir or Madam,

My name is Diana Hengerer. I am a duly-elected alternate from CD5 in Oregon.

I am a health care practitioner in private practice, and a small business owner here in Oregon. I have been a voter since the 1970's, but never felt such a strong motivation to get involved in the political process until I could no longer ignore the dangerous downward spiral that our country is in currently .
I decided that I needed to participate in a way called upon by our founding fathers: instead of worrying and complaining about the situation, to get off the couch and be part of the solution.

I became a PCP and helped motivate others to do the same. I decided to run for a delegate slot just for the experience of having to get up and give a speech, and to learn first hand what was involved in the process.

I know you have received all the details of the conventions that took place in Oregon on June 23 of this year, so I will not go into all of that again.
You know, if you took the time to read the documents, that there were many irregularities at our conventions, due to the fact the people in power here did not like the results of the first two rounds of voting. They did the equivalent of calling the game, taking the ball and going home. They did this under the assumption that people would not uphold their commitment to vote for the candidate to whom they were pledged. I guess they figured that everyone was as unethical as they have proven themselves to be.

We have done our utmost to follow every rule and to fulfill every requirement needed to contest this situation and shed light on the fact that our rights have been grossly violated. We have requested documents from the ORP and the RNC pertaining to our contests and to the results and minutes of our conventions.
We have been met with silence on all accounts. This begs the question: What are they hiding?

I am very saddened that the very people I was counting on to turn the trajectory of this country around, and with whom I was ready to join forces in the fight have proven to be part of the problem, after all. It is disheartening to think that we spend so much of our national effort in ostensibly preventing this thing from happening in other countries, and allow it to perpetuate in our own.

You are the final arbiters of this contest.

I urge you to do the right thing, and uphold the Rule of Law, the Rules of the RNC, the Rules, By-laws , Statutes of the ORP and the State of Oregon.

I urge you to stand up for fair, honest, open elections.

I urge you to send a message to American people and the members of the Republican Party that you do not condone the behavior that is motivated by the concept "the ends justify the means."

Thank you for taking the time to read my letter.

Respectfully,

Diana Hengerer
Oregon Alternate Delegate, RNC

Did I mention how VERY proud I am of the above alternate delegates? They
are the tireless minority that Dr. Paul talks about. They have put in a ton of time (and stress) to fight for this contest over the past two months.

Todd Smith sent this email to RNC members

Hi,

My name is Todd Smith and I am a duly elected alt delegate from cd2 in Oregon.

When I turned 18, I registered to vote and have remained a conservative republican since. As I grew older, I realized the sad state of our country in general, and our politicians especially (all parties), so I decided to donate some of my time to try and steer some of the wayward politicians in my area back to the Constitution and a Republican form of government. I have since been elected as a pcp and my county's chair for 2 terms. This year I decided to take it a step further and run for delegate and elector.

That's when I found out that we have something rotten in our party and was unpleasantly surprised at how deep it goes. Long story short; Our state chairman has Illegally replaced us with donors, family members of party officials etc. After following all of the rules to contest this action, I haven't received any of the documents or proof that I requested. I am being treated like I don't exist. I hope you will do your part and investigate this matter before it comes before you. Thank you.

You must send Video proof of Oregon Convention Shenanigans

Send the video from the Daily Paul archives to the RNC detailing the running away with ballots before a vote and the rest of the shenanigans. As in any court one has to file proof. They will not go by a lawyer's say so. they need proof. Don't you guys watch Judge Judy ? Nothing in the Ron Paul presentation letter presents proof or evidence. Evidence please. The Ron Paul lawyers possibly do not have the proof video evidence. Someone must get it to them and to the RNC pronto. Email it to them or something. Send the proof evidence video also to the committee man and women and charpersons.

did you even look at the

did you even look at the contest filing? at the appendix of 43 pieces of evidence INCLUDING the video you described? this video *is* exhibit 17 and we have the affidavit of the videographer too, along with half a dozen other equally compelling videos, and photos of our official ballot tally sheets and affidavits from the congressional district chairs!

also, the Ron Paul campaign lawyer had it because we the Oregon grassroots helped him and gave it to him

this contest has been a rigged game from the start, but we are making them break rule after rule after rule to keep shutting us out.

update: Committee response to our objections to their report

We just got the updated Contest on Committee response to our objections to their report.

Denise B's picture

I wrote down

the committee people's information and will contact them shortly, but I just had a question for clarification...Is it correct that this issue is over the alternates and the apppointment of the chair people only (not that that isn't bad enough)? The Ron Paul delegates that were voted in the morning session (which he swept) are all going to be seated, and this issue is over the seating of the alternates only and their illegal appointments? Is that correct?...or is the GOP trying to unseat both the delegate slates as well as throwing out the alternates as well?

Sorry if this seems like a dumb question, I am just trying to fully understand what is taking place....

that's right the issue is

that's right the issue is over the alternates and the appointment of chair people. There is also some dispute about whether Russ Walker (of 'Freedom Works') actually won his delegate position or not.

the Ron Paul delegates will all be seated. However Oregon rules state that if a delegate rejects their binding, and votes their conscience, the chairman is to report during the vote that they voted according to how they were bound instead.

the chair is key

and Ally doesn't even deserve to call himself an Oregonian much less chair our delegation.

Why is the RNC comittee's report "crappy"? Why doesn't Alley's defense of his actions hold water? One side is saying, "You had no authority to do what you did," and the other side is saying, "We did exactly what we were supposed to do and were just following rules."

I guess what I'd like to see is the objection to the report that was filed in Tampa. I think reading that would clear things up.

One side is saying, "You had no authority to do what you did," with a ton of cited ORP and RNC bylaws, state laws, evidence, and legal precedent.

Why would Ron Paul Hire Lawyers to fight ORP

and Jesse Benton try to cut a deal with the devil. I smell something real bad going on behind the scenes.

um.. maybe because they make

um.. maybe because they make you file your Statement in Support of Contest in the form of a 'legal brief' with a no more than 1000 word *summary* in addition the rest of the brief, with affidavits for every piece of evidence, and it has to be filed with counsel@rnc.org ? You have to navigate a sea of horribly complex rules, then defend yourself at a court-room style hearing in Tampa with a couple days notice only. Oh wait, lets send unrepresented delegates up against RNC lawyers solo, that's a great idea!

:) I found it pretty shocking what it takes to contest a credential

Bump for Oregon!!

The R3VOLution doesn't end in TAMPA!

My e-mail

Here's the mail I sent, I hope I got my facts straight:

Dear Republican National Committee Member,

I am writing to ask that you exercise your responsibility as an RNC member
to ensure that the letter and spirit of Party rules and principles be followed
with respect to the seating of Oregon's delegation in Tampa (and of all others,
as far as that goes).

As an Oregon Republican voter who has attempted to follow the whole process, I feel
that the actions of ORP Chair Allen Alley have served to disenfranchise myself and
others who have participated in the primary process in good faith. I urge your attention
to the challenges raised by Oregon Alternative Delegates who were elected, but then
improperly replaced by Mr. Alley and the party's Executive Committee (at an improperly
noticed meeting which lacked proper authority to make such appointments.

A number of the appointments made in this way were of people who had run and lost
in the Congressional District Conventions, and others were of people who had never
been nominated as Delegate or Alternative Delegate candidates. This impropriety
was then compounded by having the newly appointed Alternative Delegates vote in the
election to determine the chairman of the delegation and committee appointments -
improper because only Delegates (*not*) AD's are allowed to vote on such matters
according to party rules.

The actions of Mr. Alley have been a public embarrassment for the party in Oregon and
aside from violating Rule 41 and quite likely relevant Oregon law, are simply unjust.

I hope you will give this matter your attention, filings to the Committee on Contests, supporting
affidavits and etc. can be found here:

To explain how this fits with

To explain how this fits with the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cPBnuvRAjWQ

, which was taken at CD4

1. Ron Paul delegate slate (made up mostly of RP delegates) swept the morning elections at all of the CD conventions (CD & at-large)
2. when it got to be 5pm, the chairman of the Oregon Republican Party tried to assert that he has unlimited king-like authority to adjourn the state conventions, because he wanted to end before the alternates are elected. that would let his executive board appoint them, if we fell for it
3. but, we didn't fall for it. the elected precinct committee people knew that the state chairman does not have this power, so they made and carried a motion to continue until all business was completed
4. just after that, the lady in the video (Terri Moffett) tried to leave with the ballots for the alternate votes, allegedly under instructions from chairman Allen Alley
5. as seen in the video, we go outside to politely stop her and watch until the ballots are returned
6. the room cheers, and we go ahead and vote for our alternate CD and at-large delegates. 4 of the other 5 Congressional district conventions do the same. (unfortunately, one of the CDs did not do enough homework I guess, and fell for the trick )
7. one week later, State chairman Allen Alley declares anything done after 5pm 'null' and has a special unauthorized executive board meeting, at which he appoints friends to all the alternate positions, completely ignoring the results of the valid CD voting!
8. Allen Alley immediately breaks the rules again by allowing alternates to vote for the delegation chair & platform committee spots. He uses his national committee man/woman and his ringer appointed alternates to 'elect' himself chair of the delegation, and to place all of his friends in all the meaningful committees.

Now, the appointed friends list is disgusting, including: Ourania Yue, wife of National Committeeman and Executive Committee member Solomon Yue; Jeff Grossman, executive committee member; Lauri S. Hein, in a relationship with Jeff Grossman; Loren Later, executive committee member; Elisa Later, wife of Loren Later; Lisa Walker, wife of FreedomWorks Vice-President Russ Walker whose delegate election is contested; Lindsay Berschauer, running for state representative in House District 26 and worked for the Oregon Transformation Project chaired by Allen Alley; Rob Kremer, ORP treasurer; Andrew Miller, CEO of Oregon Transformation Project, chaired by Allen Alley; Tim Nashif, Oregon Family Council co-founder; and Kevin L. Mannix, who ran for Oregon governor in 2002 and 2006 and Congress in 2008.

Loren and Elisa Later were disgusted enough to announce their resignation from the delegation at the first Lane Co Executive Board meeting held after they were appointed.

I'm sorry it is really hard to put this all in a short summary, maybe someone can do a better job that I am at it.
