Politico: No Ron Paul Revolution at Convention.

TAMPA, Fla. — The Republican establishment has quelled the Ron Paul Revolution, at least for 2012.

Using a mix of charm and procedural hardball, Mitt Romney’s campaign and his allies who control the Republican National Committee have ensured that the Texas congressman will neither speak nor be formally nominated at next week’s convention. It’s a significant victory for Romney, who could have been faced with a raucous rebellion from the Paul crowd if he hadn’t extended an early, and diplomatic, olive branch to what’s become a key constituency.

November-We Can Still Prevail

I suggest starting a movement to write in Ron Paul in November. Take a photo of your ballot before turning it in, and video yourself voting for Ron Paul.

Plan B-We all leave the republican party.

Plan C-Paul supporters should join the Libertarian Party. The festival is there in Tampa for a reason.

Plan D-Vote for Gary Johnson. As a block of voters, we have the power to tip the scales. Neither OBummer, or Romney get in.

May God save America, and keep us all safe.

Your Sister in Liberty,

Ya keep tellin urself that.

Ya keep tellin urself that. Now is where we must stick to our guns more than ever. They are getting nasty changing rules on us.. but if they can change the rules why don't we? i say screw it and make our own rules.. lets just nominate paul ourself lol

The Ron Paul revolution is in

The Ron Paul revolution is in every country and every city in the world!

For political to say the revolution won't be at the RNC is like saying there won't be any air to breath!

What we must do is dress our best! Go there in suits and ties! Blend in! And just practice your freedom of speech!! Chant Ron Paul whenever you feel it necessary! The whole world will be watching and so will all of America!

They claim we won't be there we will be there and we are everywhere do not forget that!!!!!

We have had enough of their lies and deception! This is about Ron Paul and his great leadership and ideas he spoke when no one else was but we are all Ron Paul! We are all individuals and we do not need to follow Ron Paul we need to lead the revolution the only way we know how!  We are the revolution!

Spreading the message of individual liberty and freedom!

If they hand cuff us or throw in cages let the world see it! Be everywhere do not stay home! Just drive, fly or ride! Get to Tampa and be ready for amazement!

What a load of bull

The words "charm" and "Mitt Romney" should never be placed in the same sentance together.....

Don't place all the blame on

Don't place all the blame on the GOP.

Believe you me, if a democratic version of Ron Paul campaigned for president in the Democratic party, he would be treated EXACTLY the same way.

Both parties only allow figureheads and puppets, not statesmen, as president.

This is Ron Paul's fault

Should have called the Repubs on their election fraud and gone all out against these clowns. "Be respectful"? Do the Repubs deserve respect?

F U RAND!

Hey GOP, where's my vote?

Repub. Party "Reformation"

In the 1500's, Martin Luther and friends, after realizing the Roman Catholic Church was too far gone, began the split in the church now known as the Protestant Reformation.

I think you all can figure out the rest of my little analogy on your own.

Not a lunatic or a heretic. Just a Paulitic.

Sleeper Comment of the Month

A brilliant and apropos analogy, Dadink.

Unfortunately, working outside the two party system won't work as history over the decades has shown. The two major political parties MUST be split from INSIDE.

"Using a mix of charm and

"Using a mix of charm and procedural hardball, Mitt Romney’s campaign and his allies who control the Republican National Committee have ensured that the Texas congressman will neither speak nor be formally nominated at next week’s convention."

The RNC has ensured that we Ron Paul supporters will NOT vote for the GOP in 2012. That is what they have ensured, that they have a much poorer chance of winning the election that they could have had. Serves THEM right. Too bad their bad behavior is going to cause ALL of us grief.

Is it possible

that they don't want Ron Paul is BECAUSE he would beat Obama? If they want BO for another 4 years (or forever) then all they have to do is put a looser up for the Republican candidate. Romney stands a good chance of being disqualified before Novermber, leaving the election for only BO!
If so, then they don't care if we vote Romney or not, if fact they would prefer we don't vote for him!

I kinda feel that after November I should drop my DSL and telephone service, just like I dropped TV many years ago - I can live without them!

jimwill, I would say

that you have been paying attention.

The Powers That Benefit can live with either Obama
or Romney - the important thing for them is to suppress
the ideal and ideas of the Liberty Movement - last thing
they want is people waking up and taking this Life,
Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness stuff seriously!

Romney's biggest challenge is going to be making it
look like he is waging a serious campaign
and actually attempting to win...

RICO ACT

Both Parties should be charged under Rico!
All assets seized and the major players jailed.

Think Truth...Trust Truth...Rely on Truth!

actually i just came to think that MAYBE

the reason they try to hard to keep ron paul out is because ron paul refused to endorse mitt romney.. since that question will certainly have all of media's attention should he attend, GOP sort of had a talk with ron paul and the compromise was then that ron paul does not attend the convention. perhaps also additional side conditions stipulated, such as adopt audit the fed platform or give rand paul better oversight positions, but those are the mild compromises that were brokered, nothing sinister as some had speculated.

why would you endorse another

why would you endorse another active candidate?

Our People are in Tampa Let's Support Them

Could anyone find the youtube titles of our Ron Paul Supporters in Tampa??? I found two from 8/23/2012 and now they are both gone?? I looked them up and went back just a few minutes later to find the correct wording to post here and puff they were gone.

Everyone was peaceful having a good time and yelling,"RON PAUL FOR PRESIDENT!".

Don't ignore our Victories

Folks,

I am surprised there hasn't been a Daily Paul post about the fact that the Republican Party has officially decided to take up the cause of the Gold Standard in its platform. For the first time in 30 years the discussion over monetary policy about commodity-backed hard money vs. fiat paper money has a place in the mainstream political discussion.

This was only made possible by the continued effort of Dr. Paul and the supporters of the Liberty Movement. Sure, this news is a setback and that is no question, but we all knew from the start that major change would have to be fundamental, gradual, and grassroots. Dr. Paul inspired an entire of generation (today is my 22nd birthday) of young people who view the country, economy, and role of government in a completely different light.

Obviously, we need to use a major party as a vehicle to enact the principles of liberty and Constitutionalism because unfotunately that is the reality of the process. However, we shouldn't only dwell on the negatives, think about where the Liberty Movement and gold standard discussions were just 5 years ago....we're making remarkable progress. Keep reading books, keep educating friends and family, and never stop fighting!

Oh wow

They actually got a commission on gold going? That's never happened before!

Yeah right, so what? They'll just ignore it like they did the last one. A victory? Just like "changing the party platform" is a victory? Give me a break. Time will tell how naive you're being.

No need for name-calling

I was simply pointing out something that is good news, it isn't a terrible thing to have hope for the future instead of assuming the worst all the time.

Perhaps Politico could use a metaphor:

Why go?

Some things I don't understand. If the Convention didn't even start yet then how is the platform already made up? If this article is true, it appears we've already surrendered.Where is Gov LePage who said he won't go if entire Paul delegation is not seated? If this article is true then why bother funding delegates to the convention when "the fix is in" as they say in boxing? Why hasn't Dr Paul or a high ranking campaign official commented?

Well, silver lining....

I'll never have to associate with the filth known as the Republican Party. Libertarian for life.

I don't play, I commission the league.

The LP is a total waste of time

Its a worthless party, and by going over to the LP you give in to the desires of the Establishment criminals. THey would LOVE to see us all volunarily cast into irrelevancy. The only path forward the the Libertarian Movement is through one of the two major parties. So dont let your hatred for the Republican Party blind you from accomplishing our goals.

Your argument is flawed. If

Your argument is flawed. If we all switched from the RP to the LP, or created another party, the RP would become irrelevant. It is only our support that keeps the RP together. If you think that the RP is too lost to be found, or too corrupt to be reformed, then leave. I would think that the RP greatly fears our support being stripped from them. Without us the RP is doomed to suffer the same fate as the Federalist or Whig parties.

If Ron Paul doesn't get elected, I plan on switching.

If ignorance is bliss, Washington DC must be heaven.

Not true

We are still only 10-20% of the republican party. We therefore represent 5-10% of the voting population. Anyone can tell you that the media will treat anyone with less than 20% support as "fringe". Sure we could rule a fringe party, and allow socialists to get elected election after election. Perhaps the better option is to leverage our strength within the existing recognized GOP, be legitimized, and WIN

The RP is done

For months now it is hard to find a comment that is pro RP..Except by the diehard NeoCons..They have seriously showed their hand and proven that they cannot be trusted. More will come out in time that will aid in destroying their reputation and when you consider that after the last two elections many in this country are done with the two parties, well, I would say that both parties in the near future are going to become quickly deemed as irrelevant and finally accepted as being corrupt and in need of the axe..

"I have found that being rich is not about having the most but about needing the least"

The LP is not a waste of time.

The Republican Party is. It is clear that they're too far down the path of authoritarian neocon statism and corruption to ever change their ways, no matter how hard we try. They always have secret tricks and loopholes to cheat honest people out of their vote, and when all else fails, they'll just brazenly cheat out in the open with the knowledge that the MSM will never, ever expose it.

I don't play, I commission the league.

They wouldn't love it all.

They wouldn't love it all. They'd go ballistic if we all went over to the LP and act as "spoilers" for their warmongering dream boy. Just ask Hanity, Beck, and Levin, if you don't agree with me. They HATE and demonize anyone who votes third party.

Oh....if they love it, and it matters so little, why are they hiring big-time lawyers to keep Johnson off the ballot?

Promises Promises, heard it all before

Ya know someone in power once promised to close Gitmo and bring our troops home. That was, of course, to just get votes I believe. Surely Rommney et al wouldn't do that?

The GOP's attitude is on

The GOP's attitude is on display for all to see at the platform hearings earlier in the week. Every good resolution, including one to oppose nation building, was overwhelmingly voted down.

Is this from a plant?

Ralph getting paid to post this shit? Really? Just last night I read about a brokered convention, this is THE ONLY thing I have seen saying "it's done and over".

I call bullshit.
