Using a mix of charm and procedural hardball, Mitt Romney’s campaign and his allies who control the Republican National Committee have ensured that the Texas congressman will neither speak nor be formally nominated at next week’s convention. It’s a significant victory for Romney, who could have been faced with a raucous rebellion from the Paul crowd if he hadn’t extended an early, and diplomatic, olive branch to what’s become a key constituency.

The Paul campaign doesn't want to hear my response so I'll just ignore their desires ... We need plenty of angry but self-CONTROLLED delegates talking about the farce of the convention and the fraudulent tactics of the RNC, Romney, and Paul campaigns ON CAMERA.

If they think Ron Paul supporters will just fall in line,
I don't think they understand the revolution.
It looks to me like this is just a piece meant to massage the nerves of the power structure; self delusion you might describe it as.
Ron Paul nor any of his staff do not command us; they lead us only at our discretion. Ron Paul himself has said that he is just the focal point of a grass roots effort.
As far as any provisions in the platform that they threw in to appeal to the revolution, we all know that since they have already shown complete disregard for the piece of paper called the Constitution, that they will even more so disregard the platform.
Does anyone really think we can trust Mitt or any of the Neocons who control the Republican Party?

If you don't accept what is happening
You need to redefine your objective - Ron Paul not Mitt Romney is the one who led you down a path and then left you there to negotiate a deal for the Paul family business which is politics. So are you still a Ron Paul supporter? Jesse Benton works for Ron Paul, John Tate works for Ron Paul - these guys are nothing except advisers and spokesmen - don't hate the messengers and then continue to adore the one calling the shots.
All your anger at the RNC, Romney, Jesse Benton, John Tate, etc should be a pale shadow of your anger towards Ron Paul.

Ron Paul is not my God. He is a man who encouraged me to read about my country's history, it's politics, it's economics. Beyond that... Dr. Paul is an example.
There will be another. There will be many others and as before...as in the history of man, man will look to liberty and to a fair and just world to live in. Mr. Romney...did nothing but set a bad example.

At most they should only be able to negotiate how they will instruct their delegate support. They do not determine the delegates, they do not get to divvy them up at will like loot, and they do not control how they will vote. Gives me a terrible headache that this principle of the process is not protected.
Instead of "hello" these guys should only ever be greeted with "f. Off" by any Ron Paul supporter.

It's not Benton's to negoatiate. Patriot Delegates fought hard and played by the rules without any help from Benton. Delegates took time out and spent their own money to go through the delegate process and that's to their credit and no one else's. BENTON SOLD OUT LIBERTY FOR A PRICE

If you can blame and hate Jesse Benton and John Tate who are advisers and spokesmen for Ron Paul - why can you continue to support Ron Paul who is calling the shots - so shoot the messenger but worship at the feet of the man who actually deceived you - you didn't follow Jesse Benton of John Tate - you followed Ron Paul and he decided that you were less important than his family business - which is politics and Rand is still young and needs the approval of the establishment. Are you really as blind as you seem or too proud to admit that you have given your trust to someone who misled you.

Not quite sure it's fair to say folks were misled. RP and the campaign spokesmen have been encouraging playing nice for quite a long time. He wants his legacy to be that he brought new life to the party by bringing in so many new liberty minded folks. And he has, but for now libertarians, Ron Paul libertarians at least, are still outside the tent.
Neocon big spending crony capitalists still rule the GOP and all we can do is try to continue to build our numbers for next time.
The presidential race is over for the liberty movement this election cycle. Retrench, save your resources or apply them to a meaningful congressional race.

Where Ron Paul Allowed a Misconception to Persist
Ron Paul's delegate strategy to work depended upon two things. One, the other candidates, Newt and Gingrich, had to stay in the race and prevent Mitt from capturing the lion's share of the delegates from the primary states with slate delegates - they didn't stay in the race and Two, Ron Paul had to virtually run the table on the states where delegates were chosen at conventions / caucases - on one weekend he lost two pivotal states badly - Washington and Missouri - so after that weekend the delegate strategy was finished as a means of securing a RP nomination or a brokered convention.
BUT HIS MOST ARDENT SUPPORTERS CONTINUED TO BELIEVE THE DREAM AND TO EXPEND THEIR TIME, MONEY AND EFFORT IN OBSCURE DISTRICT AND STATE CONVENTIONS AND RON PAUL ALLOWED THEM TO CONTINUE WITH THIS DELUSION = AND WHY? TO MAXIMIZE THE NUMBER OF DELEGATES THAT HE DID CAPTURE - A SMALL NUMBER VERSUS THE NUMBER REQUIRED TO WIN THE NOMINATION BUT ENOUGH TO GAIN SOME LEVERAGE IN NEGOTIATION WITH THE ROMNEY CAMPAIGN - AND THIS IS WHAT THEY DID.
It is up to the individual supporters to judge this but to me - he didn't exactly lie but he willfully used your misconception - how many people would have expended the time, money and effort that they did over the summer if they understood the end game? Now Ron Paul has to worry if you will meekly accept what has happened over the summer or will you make a stink in Tampa because if you do - you will damage, perhaps destroy, the Paul Family business which is politics right when Ron intends to turn it over to his son Rand.
What you think and do is your business. I am glad that I did not labor for several months with this huge misconception.
