Actually sir - we need you there and fighting for your delegates and our country! No matter who you support here, we should all be on the same page as far as "we the poeple" and our constitutional rights, right??
Show up and fight for us, your state and your country! I believe your motives for not showing at the convention are in the right place, but it is the wrong tactic at this time. Do the right thing Governor!

This election HAS MADE IT CLEAR THAT THIS IS NOT ABOUT THE PEOPLE. And not enough poeple in high places are fighting for us. My god, where are the poeple we elected, are they all corrupt? The ones that are not MUST STEP FORWARD NOW. This has gone way past Ron Paul. This is simple right and wrong now. It is simply is our country free or not? Step up. We need you now. Not in 2016. NOW. 2016 is too late. way too late.

YES!!!!!! This is exactly

YES!!!!!! This is exactly the stand for principle we needed!~

They cannot play with sovereign votes.

Misleading post! Give the source and facts!

This post leaves out all the facts and details which would make clear the process!

The RNC does not DECIDE who is credentialed! ONLY the credentials committee of the delegates elected to attend the Convention makes their recommendation to the body... then the body ultimately debates and votes the final decision!

The RNC Committee on Contests always tries to weed out cases and make their recommendation to the Credentials committee. But the final say for recommendation to the body as a whole, comes from the decision of the Credentials committee! After that the decision of the Credentials committee must be moved on the floor, then debated and voted on by the body assembled on the floor!

The next step for the liberty folks is clear, but only if they have carefully read the rules. Publishing loud and clear your cause will help embarrass the Committee into doing justice. Evil hates the light but loves darkness! Expose them!

At every step of the way delegates or persons with standing from the state in question can protest or object and file to be heard. The needs to be decided upon. They can also go to court if they suspect criminal activity, and file for injunction or mandamus which ever applied for the issue. If there is serious rule disregard and violation of rules, then the ugly head of the Federal election law appears, along with the possibility of RICO violations!

If the delegates are naive and expect kid glove treatment, or friendly cooperation from those who would rape and pillage the world of it's freedoms and wealth, then bomb them randomly into the submission of death... then I pity America right now, fear for the freedom of future generations, and weep at the ignorance and naivety of Ron Paul delegates who were sold as savvy, thought to be prepared, and sent off to fight for liberty to the end!

'Fool me once, shame on you... Fool me twice, shame on me!'

This is BIG GOOD NEWS for us

We have just been brazenly defrauded by the fraudsters again! With even the Governor of the state sitting out in protest\ this is a text-book case of the lawless GOP organs violating the social compact of the first rule of order for civilization - The LAW must be followed by everyone not just the serfs (i.e. "We the people"). If the GOP's private club ("and you aint in IT" as George Carlin would say) doesn't abide by its own by-laws, the club must then be subject to the laws of our nation which as suppose to protect the people from the organized gangsters perpetrating FRAUD on a massive scale against the interest of the people.

While I really feel bad for the honorable delegates of Maine I am also happy about this development. We have truth on our side and it is becoming more and more obvious to the masses that liberty is better than tyranny (a tough sell right?)

The future is OURS
(If we the people can agree to be civil towards each other and assert that the individual's right to property guided by the axiom "your rights end where mine begins" DECLARE AND DEFEND our natural right to the pursuit of happiness and everything that goes with it)

The governor isn't going

The governor isn't going because he is allowing this to happen.... from the distance... If he had any back bone he would be in Tampa speaking out and supporting the elected delegates... he is no hero!

You've got to be kidding me

The Governor not participating in the convention fraud absolutely takes a backbone.

Not taking part is the

Not taking part is the problem... He is elected to represent... He should be fighting tooth and nail... They least going public with the story....

REVOLUTION at the convention.

This better be the ugliest GOP convention of all time - because they are asking for it. So far, they are the only ones who have broken the rules.

The Maine delegation will appeal and fight on.

Ron Paul Delegations: Losing Maine, Some Platform Victories, and Happy Cooperation with Romney?
Brian Doherty|Aug. 24, 2012 12:28 pm

The Maine delegation to the Republican National Convention (RNC) in Tampa next week has been essentially unseated by the Republican National Committee's Committee on Contests, in a compromise intended to split the delegation 10 for Ron Paul, 10 for Mitt Romney.

The delegation intends to appeal to the credentialing committee today. I was told two days ago by delegation member (and in-coming national committeeman on the RNC from Maine) Mark Willis that "We were duly elected and we are all going to Tampa and we expect to be seated as a delegation, all of us or none of us. We are united and strong and the Romney campaign underestimate our resolve."

We'll see how that works out. My recent blogging on the Maine fight here and here.

I think you're posting old

I think you're posting old news here. The credentials meeting is currently in session, and they have already decided that the RNC will replace the delegates with their own selection.

I should also mention the

I should also mention the committee's report will have to be adopted by a vote during the convention, but I doubt that will be an issue for them at all seeing how this committee meeting has gone. Our delegates should make their case loud and clear on the floor of the convention, but unfortunately we won't have the numbers to vote against the committee's report.

Mark Willis' Steadfast Attitude

deserves rewarding within our movement. Mark, stick to your guns and don't budge an inch. Your future (and OURS) becomes brighter by the moment because of your effort and tenacity in standing on principle.

Why bother, that's probably rigged too.

You could always participate as an election judge.

What do you think of this? www.theonlinemarket.org

I can't honestly say that this is a surprise...

What we are experiencing is not new. Saul Alinsky wrote about this in 1971:

In the midst of the gassing and violence by the Chicago Police and National Guard during the 1968 Democratic Convention many students asked me,"Do you still believe we should try to work inside our system?"

These were students who had been with Eugene McCarthy in New Hampshire and followed him across the country. Some had been with Robert Kennedy when he was killed in Los Angeles. Many of the tears that were shed in Chicago were not from gas. "Mr. Alinsky, we fought in primary after primary and the people voted no on Vietnam. Look at that convention. They're not paying any attention to the vote. Look at your police and the army. You still want us to work in the system?"

It hurt me to see the American army with drawn bayonets advancing on American boys and girls. But the answer I gave the young radicals seemed to me the only realistic one: "Do one of three things. One, go find a wailing wall and feel sorry for yourselves. Two, go psycho and start bombing; but this will only swing people to the right. Three, learn a lesson. Go home, organize, build power and at the next convention, you be the delegates."

Can someone please answer...

Also - can any of the delegates give us a clue if there are other delegates (romney, santorum...whoever) tht are outraged by this? or are they jsut rejoicing that Romney is about to win??
I would be worried if I was supporting romney and saw all of this corruption. Is it possible that the poeple will unite at the convention?

These are the corrupt party bosses and they must be slowly

removed between now and next election.

But DON"T vote for Romney, Obama, do an unrecorded write-in or not vote.

Vote libertarian so that they can see what they missed.

Let's get some media links

Let's get some media links going. Let's get this story to every person on every network media. I'm sure they're aware of it, maybe not, but let's do what we do. Maybe we can get them to call LePage themselves.

Unfortunate Situation With Blowback Potential

This unfortunate situation is BIG news and should be just the ticket needed to deeply wound the RNC this November. Yeah, I know that the Republicans are currently so arrogant that they think they'll win regardless. They might be right, but the incident will remain for later use as required. The RNC has brought the consequences on themselves.

Governor LePage and the rest of Maine's delegation can now freely illustrate to the world that the RNC's coronation of Romney is a sham and a farce.

Both parties are on the same team...

Partisan politics is only an illusion.

After having been a registered republican since the Regan days, I re-registered as libertarian after voting for Paul in my primary.

I live in a closed state, so yes I did choose to never vote in another primary election again, but I am DONE WITH THE REPUBLICAN PARTY FOREVER and will never re-register.

I don't want them to even count me as one of their supporters.

I URGE EVERYONE to re-register and LEAVE the party. They DO pay attention to the ups and downs of how many people are registered as the party... if enough people start to leave they will notice it and they will hear us.

I respect your decision, but...

It sends a stronger message to them if you become a precinct delegate and work from inside to change the GOP.

This does NOT mean needing to vote for the Republican nominee, or buying into neocon philosophy, or that you have shared the bed of the establishment.

It DOES mean being a constant thorn in their sides. It DOES mean having a vote for future state delegates. It DOES mean having a voice in one of the two major parties.

People that leave the party will become nothing to them, since chances are astoundingly great that people who leave will not take up activism in other parties. Even if you become the most active folks around, there are rules and processes in place that pre-suppose only two parties, and make 3rd party runs almost impossible to win (or get on the ballot, or get media coverage).

I was a lifelong member of the Libertarian Party. We never made headway like we have in these past two election cycles. I am now a GOP precinct delegate, and will stick with the GOP only to change it.

Paul got 2M votes in the primaries (Romney got 9M). That's 22% folks! Now, if all 22% votes for Gary Johnson in November, THAT'S a clear message to the GOP.

Proclaim LIBERTY throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof

Kathleen Gee's picture

I think this deserves to be its own thread.

Too many people on the DP still see this as an "US" versus "THEM" issue. And it always will be, as long as "we" -- meaning Liberty voters -- don't get involved on the grassroots level and just SHOW UP at our local GOP.

At its heart, it is a very simple "GET LIBERTY BUTTS IN GOP SEATS" issue. When we BECOME the GOP, we will be writing the rules.

Demography is on our side. The Establishment Cocktail Party GOP is dying off. We can accelerate that decline by getting involved NOW, so we can ensure that Obama has a Liberty GOP House and a Liberty GOP Senate to stop him until we can get a Liberty president in the White House.

They will notice it and

They will notice it and rejoice. Don't you think that's exactly what they want? For people to leave the party.

um... this is incorrect...

um... this is incorrect... 9 out of 20 are still Ron Paul people, LePages is staying home, but in protest of not seating ALL of the maine delegates, not because they dropped the whole list.

Don't Tread on Me!

Go to FaceBook and

announce your intention to not vote for Romney. Choose Obama (shudder) if you can stomach it but this kind of corruption must not be rewarded. Lets show them a sign of how many votes they have tossed aside. Nothing can be worse than this blatant dismissal of the peoples intent. Get organized and do it en mass.

There are no politicians or bankers in foxholes.

Talk about jumping out of the fry pan and into the fire....

NOT Obama.

The GOP is conducting a slow but steady purge

of anyone who has sincere affection for the Constitution. It's coming in polite and impolite phases.

With all due respect, I will no longer be a voting prostitute for Constitution rejecting harlots.

Bill Kristol exactly asked

Bill Kristol exactly asked this to be done on CSPAN few months back, didn't he?

This is engineered by Karl Rove & Bill Kristol together.

In Maine, Charles Kragin is the man they used to implement this policy.

...talks broke down with the Republicans, and the GOP chose to run former judge and Republican stalwart Charles Cragin as chairman. Cragin had presided at several Maine GOP conventions, but Tweed said he did not know him personally.

“I said I’d run as chairman, and Republicans could run a vice-chairman,” Tweed said. “They weren’t willing to make a deal.”

Tweed beat out Cragin for a chairman in a virtual dead heat, winning with a four-vote victory, 1,114 to 1,118. Cragin, a Romney supporter, characterized the commotion at the convention as “bizarre,” predicting that the Maine delegation may not get seated at the national convention.
