Justin Raimando: The Iron Fist in Tampa

As the Republican convention-goers gather in Tampa, Florida, the Republican party Establishment is eager to crush any public expressions of dissent — both inside and outside the convention hall.

Inside, efforts are underway to make it impossible for delegates pledged to antiwar libertarian Ron Paul to place their candidate in nomination — an effort the Huffington Post deems a “defense” against Paulian “shenanigans.” Party rules say officially-recognized candidates must have pluralities of delegates in at least five states: however, at a recent Republican National Committee meeting, Texas committeeman John Ryder moved to increase the number of states to ten — just to make sure Paul doesn’t make the grade. Disdaining convention floor fights as “the residue of the 19th century,” Ryder averred it is time to “streamline” the process by which the GOP nominates its standard-bearer. Ryder claimed that he wanted to eliminate “distractions” at the Republican convention:

“Unless you’ve got a real contest, where you have two candidates or three candidates who actually have a mathematical chance of winning, then why do we want to go through the exercise?”

I have a better idea: since polls are showing Mitt Romney being soundly beaten by our incumbent President, why don’t’ we just dispense with these pesky elections — which are, after all, just part of the residue from the 18th century — and declare Barack Obama the winner? That way, we can save time, energy, and taxpayers’ money — because, after all, the taxpayers are footing the bill for Mitt’s coronation, just as they are for the Democrats. Think of it as a Republican budget-cutting plan — the Ryder plan.

To the Republican party Establishment — and much of the rank-and-file activists — political debate is a “distraction” from what really matters in politics, which is seizing power. As for the rules governing the political process — they can be changed at a moment’s notice, and bent any which way, in order to facilitate this seizure.

why do we demand

a republican form of government, where all the votes are counted ? Why do we demand the bill of rights ?

Again, committee's cant legally make rules, all the delegates have to do is demand to smack down any new rules with a vote.

Do Facts Ever Matter

Or do people just spout out what they would like to be true as the truth and then everyone believes it so it becomes the truth on the Daily Paul even though it is factually incorrect - well the average of Real Clear Politics polls shows that Obama has a 1% lead in the polls - well within the statistical margin of error which for most polls is 3-5% but here it is claimed that Romney is being "soundly beaten" in the polls - how close does it have to get in order for anyone in here to acknowledge that the election is close - does Romney need to be ahead by 5% before you admit that the election might be close. Or do facts matter at all - you will just claim whatever supports your point of view - and it is highly immaterial whether it is true or not - in my lifetime this is called LYING.

first off, real clear politics has 0 credibility (they are in fact liers, and since you claim to distain lying it seems hypocritical that you would use them as a source).

secondly, most msm polls conducted will contain a political bias to fit their agenda. this is lying too, so it seems odd that out of all this you only have an issue with Justin Riamando... hmmmm.

Real Clear Politics on Polling

Collects poll data from the major pollsters and lists out the ones recent enough to be relevant and calculates an average - how on god's earth could they be lying? You can follow the link to each of the polls - you could google the polls and find them - and if you did you would find on this issue that real clear politics is right on point. You just have an aversion to facts - you won't allow facts to be considered and then you call other liars.

I told you

the polls are done with political motivations. If you take an average of deception it doesn't make it true, it might be a tricky lie - it tricked you - but it's still a lie.

Then Why

Use polls at all - the PPP is certainly among the most politically slanted of all the polls - it is the left wing book end to the right wing Rasmussen Poll - I take both with a grain of salt - I prefer to follow Gallup but the best thing to do in my opinion is to look at the average - the trend of all the polls because there are right wing polls and left wing polling outfits.

The author of this article needed a poll for his article to hold water and I pointed out that he was misrepresenting facts in stating that the polls showed that Romney was being "soundly beaten" in the polls - the poll was even over 3 weeks old and had been taken in mid to late July and this is August. Blatant dishonesty on the part of this writer.

The popular vote...

...doesn't matter. Obama's soundly beating Romney in the electoral college, so far.

Don't get stuck in the left right paradigm

right wing polling is going skew #'s away from liberty and toward tyranny. left wing polling is going to do the same thing. so if you average them they will be biased toward totalitarian mentality.

Welcome to the internet

On the internet we have things called "links", which you can click on and they will magically take you to another website.

The red text in his article are links to the sources he used to back up his claims. I'll paste them here since apparently you missed them:

Oh Yes

One poll is over three weeks old - and talks about likeability / personal favorability - that is routine in the polls but it is also routine in the polls that Romney consistently beats Obama on the issue of who is better equipped to manage the economy and the number 1 issue to people is the economy which explains why the polls are so tight - Obama wins on personal likeability - Romney has him beat on economic management - so they virtually tie over and over in the polls regarding the question - "who do you intend to vote for"

And the second poll of a few swing states was more current than the other poll which by now is ancient history but even it talked in terms of "slight Obama leads". So this particular poll just supported what I said - the polls show that the race is tight.

By the way - I quoted the average of all polls kept by real clear politics - you looked around and found two isolated polls that supported the point you wanted to make. I was 100% honest - you were deceptive which says something about your lack of character.

Are you slow or something?

I wasn't trying to make a point, and I didn't "look around" for "isolated polls" to be "deceptive". I'm giving you the links PROVIDED IN THE ARTICLE YOU ARE COMMENTING ON.

I could care less if Romney's winning in the polls or vice versa, I wasn't even commenting on that.

If there is a point I'm trying to make, its that maybe you should try clicking the links the author provides... before running over here and blabbering like an idiot.

You Know I will apologize

I read your post quickly - the person who was picking and choosing polls to make a point was the author of the article not you - so you have my apology. I still make my point about the article though - the average of all recent major polls is a 1% difference and the author of the article must have known this when he looked around and had to use a three week old poll to make the point. This was intentional manipulation of facts to fit an assertion he made - an assertion that was necessary for his article's thesis to stand - you guys talk about the dishonesty of the MSM - well your alternative information sources appear to me to be even worse.

Neo Cons go away we dont want you anymore! they are viruses!

i will never vote for Romney!

What does your comment have remotely to do with my point that the writer of this article either by intention or through ignorance misrepresented the truth to support his contention - does truth matter to you or are you happy living in a world where people lie to you - whatever happens I don't like to lie and I hate to be caught when I am wrong on a fact but in here - any old thing can be stated - completely untrue and no one cares - yeah - that sounds good - go to it - this is the freedom train coming through

Fact is

Romney's record hasn't been seized upon yet by the Obama campaign, and when the facts of his record are, there will be a huge swell of apathy washing over the GOP electorate, and many will just stay home.

*May the only ones to touch your junk, be the ones you want to touch your junk.*

No that is not a fact - that is your opinion

And maybe you will be right and maybe you will be wrong but I'm not accusing you of distorting facts to make a point - you stated your opinion and I respect that - this joker who wrote this article just out and out lied or even worse was ignorant of the facts when he states straight up that Obama is "soundly beating" Romney in the polls - that is either a lie or a mistake - it is not the truth and it can be proven very easily that it is not the truth.

Tyranny GOP has declared war on the American People!

now the GOP has open the door for us to use the rule of law against them. day after day year after year we will keep educating the public and and grow or supporters to completely take down these war monger Neo-cons until they are extinct!

i will be taking over my city hall and unleash the truth and educate about what a Republic is suppose to be!

The fix is in

And we've been had. Taken for a ride by Texas committeeman John Ryder.

Those #%@$ !#@^%!! %$@#!$! ^@%$@! duplicitous, oath-breaking, two-faced, gerrymandering RNC/GOP! There are not enough curses found in the entire human language to label them with.

The fools! The only thing they "streamlined" in the nomination process is an express elevator straight to tyranny!

Not in the least - when it comes to hate - you're the man!

This is an excellent article.

Once again Mr. Raimondo writes about the insanity that is American reality.

Words cannot describe how

Words cannot describe how angry the GOP makes me

If RP doesn't win the nomination, I hope they get utterly crushed and embarrassed in the general election

is this guy unaware of the

is this guy unaware of the recent polls which placed RP within the margin of error of Obama?

The results weren't published by anyone to my

knowledge. I know they were sent out but I guess no one cared (except us)

"Jesus answered them: 'Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin. The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.'" (John 8:34-36)

The Reason...

-- “Unless you’ve got a real contest, where you have two candidates or three candidates who actually have a mathematical chance of winning, then why do we want to go through the exercise?”

WHY? Because we are a nation of laws. If you don't like the rules or laws, then go through the appropriate amendment process to change them.

Get on a Boat

"Why don't they just get on a boat and go to live in Russia if they don't like the laws here?" Love it or Leave it.

yes, but...

Ron Paul would be #1 right now if the media and the GOP didn't black ball him.

Thank you so much Celeste
