A Look at Past GOP Platform Promises

Before we jump for joy over the inclusion of some of Ron Paul’s policies into the GOP party platform at the convention, lets take a look at previous party platform promises…

Energy Independence – Just about every platform
Overturn Roe vs. Wade – Just about every platform
Saving Social Security – 2000
Controlling Federal Spending – 1988
Privacy – 2000, “Citizens must have the confidence that their personal privacy will be respected in the use of technology by both business and government.”
The gold commission – 1981, Created by Reagan, it was a commission to look at restoring the link between the dollar and gold.

The Gold Commission – 2012, a commission to look at restoring the link between the dollar and gold.

So how important is it that Ron Paul’s policies get recognized in the party platform? Do you believe the Republican party will follow through with an Audit of the Fed, and bringing us back to the Gold Standard, if they have the votes to do so?

Party Platforms are meaningless.

Platforms are bait and hook to catch the radicals in the party.

Question: Would you rather have Mitt Romney as President and allow Ron Paul to write the entire platform, or have Ron Paul as President and allow Mitt Romney to write the entire platform? Neither president would follow their party's platform, nothing new there.

more liberty chat divisive don't try mantra nonsense.

In 1940

The RP pledged to keep us out of WW2. And that happened till we were attacked

The 1981 gold commission

That happened too

No child left behind

It was in the platform in 2000 and that happened

Jefferson's picture

4 years they get up there and make the same broken promises.
Social security
The budget
Blah, blah, blah..
I can't believe anyone would think that a couple of planks on the GOP platform are even going to be remotely considered.

Hey Romney- I wipe my A$$ with your Platform

what else is it good for?

Psycology of Compromise

I think Kissinger wrote a book back around the '70s, & his strategy was to think up an outrageous, offensive demand(s) that he knew no one would accept & submit them along with the demands he actually wanted to achieve.

Let the people become outraged, debate, complain & worry.
Later, ask for what you really want & 'compromise' by dropping the outrageous demand.

Outcome: What you REALLY want will appear MUCH MORE reasonable and palatable to your opponent. So, the opponent 'is relieved' over the 'compromise' and agrees to everything you actually wanted to achieve in the first place.

It's using mind-manipulation, relative thinking, to one's advantage.

Don't fall for such tactics, & it would be wise to outwit them using their own tactics and this tactic.

Soon, they will be demanding support of Romney in exchange for something.

Galatians 5:1
It is for FREEDOM that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

Don't fall for it!

So team Romney and the RNC will air a tribute video for Dr. Paul at the convention and will form a "gold commission" to study going back to the gold standard. The results of this commission much like the Shafer Commission will be buried if it recommends something the establishment doesn't want to hear. Romney will lie and say whatever he has to get our support which he needs to beat Obama. Don't give it to him!
