Lew Rockwell for VP

0 votes

Simple point. I believe Lew Rockwell should be considered for Dr. Paul's VP.

Lew runs the site that bears his name (LewRockwell.com)* and has kept the Mises Institute open for this entire generation to have access to the free and open debate on freedom.

Dr. Paul would do well to name someone who has risked his relationship with the MSM, his academic favor and everything to further message of truth.

We'd all do ourselves a favor to look at what's going on here in terms of changing the expectations of the political process. Yes -- Let's get Ron Paul elected, or at the very least as many delegates as possible... But above all else, let's drive home the fact that peace, freedom and individual responsibility are not something the real American is willing to hand over to the political power grabbers.

If not Lew Rockwell, I think Dr. Walter Block would make an excellent choice and would destroy anyone in a debate. It would be the most comical match-up in televised debate history if you could get him in front of one of these politicians endorsed by the main stream media.

We need to make sure the message of freedom is sustained -- and that's by us. We shouldn't compromise now.

Lew Rockwell would be an

Lew Rockwell would be an excellent choice for VP!

And if not VP, I'd at least like to see him in Ron Paul's cabinet.

need someone famous, experience in national republican politics

Lew is neither famous or experienced in national republican politics.

Also he is not been exposed or well connected to the media.

I have to agree that Buchanan matches this goal and makes a lot of sense given the competition will most likely have a powerful vp to speak against.

Also Buchanan has a very strong name with the base of the republican party of evangelical's. Gaining that blocks support is the engine for winning the election.

I have to wonder if Obama/Clinton? vs Paul/Buchanan doesnt have a nice ring to it.

I think then libertarians should put people into growth positions like sec of commerce, trade, etc.

Ron should pick up hunter for defense to give the war hawks a warm fuzzy.

Ron should pick up tancredo for homeland security to give the soccer moms and illegal immigration people a warm fuzzy...

Not sure who would be sec of state? They would have to agree with the Pres....tough one

Unknown

Lew is unknown.
Ron Paul needs a well-known Conservative running mate. I vote for Pat Buchanan. Famous and Loved!

I believe that many Republicans are regretting not voting for him back in 2000.

Lew may be a great intellectual, but America does not go for that (obviously, or we would have done MUCH better so far).

Open Letter To Lew Rockwell - January 12, 2008

Dear Lew,

You have now had three opportunities –1996, 2001, and 2008 — to prove that you are a friend of Ron Paul and freedom, and you have failed to do so each time.

This week, for the third time, the puerile, racist, and completely un-Pauline comments that all informed people say you have caused to appear in Ron’s newsletters over the course of several years have become an issue in his campaign. This time the stakes are even higher than before. He is seeking nationwide office, the Republican nomination for President, and his campaign is attracting millions of supporters, not tens of thousands.

Three times you have failed to come forward and admit responsibility for and complicity in the scandals. You have allowed Ron to twist slowly in the wind. Because of your silence, Ron has been forced to issue repeated statements of denial, to answer repeated questions in multiple interviews, and to be embarrassed on national television. Your callous disregard for both Ron and his millions of supporters is unconscionable.

If you were Dr. Paul’s friend, or a friend of freedom, as you pretend to be, by now you would have stepped forward, assumed responsibility for those asinine and harmful comments, resigned from any connection to Ron or his campaign, and relieved Ron of the burden of having to repeatedly deny the charges of racism. But you have not done so, and so the scandal continues to detract from Ron’s message.

You know as well as I do that Ron does not have a racist bone in his body, yet those racist remarks went out under his name, not yours. Pretty clever. But now it’s time to man up, Lew. Admit your role, and exonerate Ron. You should have done it years ago.

How about Robert Murphy?

Robert Murphy for VP, because of his brilliant rebuttal to Victor Aguilar's Critique of Austrian Economics.

the Ron Paul Report

The speculation is that Rockwell is the author of those racialist Ron Paul Report essays. He hasn't confirmed it or denied it. So, that may not be a good idea.

And Walter Block is an avowed anarchist. That wouldn't go over too well. Rockwell is an anarcho-capitalist too. Both of them believe that the state should be replaced by businesses. That wouldn't sell well.

speculation???

Where is your source that Lew Rockwell is "speculated" to have written those essays?

"Make fun buddy..." - Ron Paul

Right here

Right here. I'm speculating it. Here's a link with someone else speculating it: http://www.freeliberal.com/archives/003165.html Just search around.

I've been examining the writing style and terminology and it is similar. I wish he would come out and deny or confirm it.

David Frum has also speculated this.

Rubbish. David Frum isn't

Rubbish.

David Frum isn't exactly someone whose words deserve respecting.

Exactly... it would be

Exactly... it would be politicial suicide given the allegations.

Anyway, someone like Mark Sanford would be the best choice. You can tell he appreciates the libertarian ideals, but he's respected in the Republican party... respect that Ron Paul would need to be taken more seriously among the staunch Republicans.

Barry Goldwater Jr.

I think that would be great for Paul's image. But he may be too elderly.

This movement is going to last...

a lot longer than the next 10 months. I don't think anyone who has an established career in politics now would align themselves with Ron Paul. They are too scared of getting flack.

The grassroots effort needs to continue through this year and the years to come so that when the economic rapture hits, we, as educated members of society can rise up and take the lead.

The current system will spend this country into oblivion.

"Make fun buddy..." - Ron Paul

"Make fun buddy..." - Ron Paul

This movement

Is going down in a cloud of glory if we don't get this thing done, one way or another. We are already overpowered and that is why we are not succeeding, not because of the multitude of blaming reasons that are going on. We are overpowered. They say the least negative thing about us and we start crumbling. They are huge and we are weak.

As far as "so that when the economic rapture hits, we, as educated members of society can rise up." What do you think we educated members are doing right now. Has anyone noticed that we are trying to rise up? Barely. Heck, that economic rapture is going to happen next week-it is happening right now. Dr. Paul would have a huge, huge mess to fix if he got into office and very darn few people to help him fix it inside government.

And if NO ONE with an established career in politics would align with him, then we are in another heap load of ___________!

Lew Rockwell for VP

An excellent idea, if he can find someone to manage his really super-excellent website and the Mises Institute while he is in Washington.

PEACE AND FREEDOM!!

hmmm

Somehow I doubt he'd want to.
