The whole Ron Paul rally was below average including RP's "final speech"

I was expecting a MUCH more controversial and in your face, truth telling speech. There was NOTHING in RP's speech that could not have been said at the RNC. If THAT was the most "damage" that RP would have done if he had spoken at the RNC...then they should have let him speak.

I didn't like W Block taking a cheap shot at Stefan Molyneux either but all the speakers actually seemed like politicans at the Rally.

Another in a long line of disappointments over the past 6 months. Nothing like RP going out with a whimper.

Glad I didn't end up going to Tampa. I would have been pissed!

I'm offically done with politics.

The only downer I see

is that more Americans don't get the liberty message, I mean really really get it. On the one hand I am impressed by the amount of people who have come over to RP's side (including myself lol), but on the other it is daunting what a challenge lies ahead.

I guess RP could have made a really blistering, caustic speech, but a big part of his approach is NOT being that way. He is always in teaching mode. I don't know about you, but I don't learn very well when someone is yelling at me and telling me bitterly that I'm a big idiot. I think it is a good strategy to act as though there is always someone, even if just one person, who is listening and waking up.

I read this thinking you were probably right THEN

I watched the video AND...

Well, I wished I had paid $400+ to stand in the nosebleed section.

Maybe you were watching video of PAUL Fest and got confused?

What was the shot at Molyneaux?

Walter Block and Stef Molyneaux probably agree on 99.9999999% of everything. They are both atheist an caps. The rift based on opinions of Ron Paul should be pretty trivial.

Now I'll have to watch his speech.

If you rely too heavily on Dr

If you rely too heavily on Dr Paul and his motivating speeches, then you will surely drop out in the long run. It is easy to look to people like Rn Paul for inspiration, and its certainly easy to get motivated by one of his bold and passionately truth laden speeches. But again, if thats all that gets you moving, then you will surely lose interest and give up. You cant put all the burden on one man. Its like you soak up everything Ron says except for one thing - you ignore the part where he says we need to stick with it, work within the party, to not expect immediate results, to do it for liberty, freedom, and country, and to definitely not quit just because you have all of your hopes in one man.

I think calling out the

I think calling out the project for a new american century was pretty ballsy. First time I have seen anyone do that, and I like that he added they closed their offices in 2006 and we moved in!

I have no problem with your honest post.

And I understand your frustrations and sentiments. I'm pissed off too.

With all the time, effort and money I spent the last 5 years trying to get Dr. Paul elected, it's a huge let-down the way this thing is ending.

The ROTTED RNC and GOP got their way by dismissing us and tossing us to the margins.

As a Paul delegate to the Washington State convention I saw their tricks first hand.

Damned near everything they did was aimed at keeping us Ron Paul supporters at bay.

New rules were enacted AT EVERY LEVEL starting with our precinct caucuses.

Rocks were thrown through the windows of the Ron Paul campaign office near Seattle and I HAVE NO DOUBT it was a REPUBLICAN who did it - NOT A DEMOCRAT.

So I know exactly why you feel how you do.

I may not be done with politics, but I AM done with the DIRTY, ROTTED, CHEATING republican party and most of its members.

How I'll proceed politically is unclear at this time.

Sorry to see you go, my friend.

I have always enjoyed your posts, and you are a true patriot.

I would disagree that the RP rally was a downer. Both the rally and the PAUL festival were a decent success.

I was there...and I can contest to it.

Well, we got your back my friend...and we will see you on the other side of the rEVOLution, or maybe on the battlefield again. ;-)

Knowing you, that is where I will find you!

Hang in there brother and godspeed.

but hate to see you break down.

good luck

I'm sorry

to see people are not letting you vent, sometimes we all need to do that. I had to take a break a while back and just step away for a moment because the negativity here was overwhelming. Stay strong, keep up the good fight. You're not alone in feeling totally disappointed but just remember we must never give up:)

A speech or convention...

should not affect your belief system and convictions so drastically.

PLEASE don't EVER come back!!!

If nothing else, playing nice with the establishment will send a clear message to the ANCAPS like followers of that cultist Molyneux that we're in this to take our country back to CLASSIC LIBERALISM through the POLITICAL process, not to a state of anarchy that has never existed in this country through marches, bullhorns, and "spiritual enlightenment".

Glad you're finished.

Thanks. Now move on.

I personally enjoyed the rally. I was there. It was great. Paul is a class act who always attacks policies not the people themselves. We have done all we could do. I believe that the campaign did all that they could do. We were marginalized in the public mindset from the beginning. I consider what was accomplished to be nothing short of amazing.

Nominee or not, president or not, Romney will live out the rest of his life in the shadow of Ron Paul.

I imagine a rash of these

I imagine a rash of these feelings will be coming out soon. We have been holding out every last bit of hope for a miracle in Tampa. Even knowing the cards are totally stacked against us many won't feel the pain until the convention is over and Romney is the king of the party. If the rule changes stand it is a double blow for the Liberty movement (making it very hard to capitalize on our victory in future elections).

Hopefully Ron Paul will be able to work with this movement in retirement. Having him at the helm will relieve the worry of the movement being taken over.

Hopefully the delegates will find a way to take these changes to the floor and reverse them.

One thing has been set in stone from these actions. I will not cast a vote for Romney. He has made it clear we are not welcomed in his house.

What this means is we need

What this means is we need you to run for office. Do it in your way. I have such negative thoughts sometimes. I did not like how his speech was for supporters. Ron got us here so that we can all go forth and try to defend liberty in all instances. Dont complain and quit. Complain and RUN! For something.

Some of my best posts (In my view) never even get a +1

...but this post gets all the attention and I'm encourged to leave and don't let the door hit me in the a$$ on the way out.

It was a reactionary post while I was still upset about the low turn out at PAULFEST and while I was personally let down by the event at the sundome. I know better than to react instead of waiting and allowing myself to cool down and responding in a more appropriate way. But, I'm far from perfect...as so many of you have made perfectly clear.

I have been disappointed by several things the campaign has done over the past 3 - 4 months but for the most part I restrained myself from saying anything negative because I felt like I shouldn't say anything until I heard what I considered would be one of RP's most important speeches.

Clearly my views are in the minority regarding the Sundome event but it's how I felt. I guess I should have kept my opinion to myself.

What's being done to our country is CRIMINAL. I've grown tired of watching how the campaign handled vital issues with kid gloves.

The FED should be labeled a criminal institution and every member of the FED board should be called out and labeled a traitor...true domestic terrorists and enemies of our once great nation and of liberty and freedom.

Romney should not be referred to as anything other than a financial terrorist. Obama has commited treason so many times over the past 4 years he (in my view) also should have been directly referred to as a traitor, a mass murderer, and a thief.

-87 is a person (best/worst) for anything I've ever posted on the DP, but for anyone to call me a troll or that I was never into the r3volution in the first place is 100% WRONG!

I don't think we have until 2016 to attempt to roll back the unrestrained power of the State.

I've calmed down quite a bit since I created the post yesterday afteroon but I'm still disappointed. However, I never expected to hung out to dry by so many people on this site.

I'm 48. What makes me so mad is that there is so little time left to turn things around for the young people and future generations. My life is more than 1/2 over. I could die tomorrow without having to personally experience the horrors of what the future holds for this country unless the r3volution becomes much bolder. NOT talking about VIOLENCE...rather, just very aggressive and brazen dialogue.

I don't think there is any time to waste.

Sorry I pissed off so many people. I'll take the advice of so many of you and stop hanging out here so often (or a least not speaking my mind much anymore).

Go, I am glad you are not

Go, I am glad you are not going. As soon as I saw your ID in the online list I looked you up since I had already replied to this post earlier and have been thinking about you.

I was really bummed Friday. Not over the campaign handling, but over the way the GOP treated our delegates. Did you get to see Tom Davis speech on the Fed? He called Bernanke a traitor and a dictator and said he was rotting out the republic. I felt he was brazen and agressive in his speech. The link is http://www.dailypaul.com/251236/tom-davis-kickin-as?from=lbp in case you didn't see it. I can only hope that since he was invited to the sun dome he was expressing that which Ron Paul would endorse. Anyway, I am glad you are still here. We need you, a Friend of Liberty.

Kind of agree with op

I didn't think it was one of Dr. Paul's best speeches. I think the one he gave at the Texas state convention was much better, actually the best I've ever heard from him! Also the rally for the republic speech back in 2008 was better. He did seem a bit somber and dejected and with good reason. Texas state convention was the absolute high point of the campaign imho.

You can't just leave! If you're officially done,

then you were never in it to win it! We all know there is no end to this. Whoever enters the rEVOLution cannot see himself leaving. Freedom isn't free. This is an eternal battle against tyranny; a battle for our life and liberty!

To back out is to side with tyranny.

Maybe you expected too much

What controversial things did you want to hear?

You may be done with politics, but I doubt Ron Paul is done with politics and we'll be hearing much more from him in the future I am sure of that.

Now that Ron is retiring, he just might say more things that he could not during his tenure in Congress.

Real eyes realize real lies

We want our country back

Every year is a year for Ron Paul!

I am usually on board witcha,

I am usually on board witcha, speedyman, but I canna ken ya on this. Where the hell you going? the movement needs you.

Anyway, I think you might be getting jaded. This speech may not be controversial anymore to YOU, but I guarantee you many parts of this speech would not have been the least bit welcome at the national sheep convention.

(another one without ears to hear)

November 6th 2012 I voted for Dr.Ron Paul
"We must remember, elections are short-term efforts. Revolutions are long-term projects." ~ Ron Paul

The best History lesson I have ever heard.

Dr. Paul does a great job communicating how personal liberties, economics, monetary and foreign policy all are so related and with no notes, teleprompters, etc., all from the heart. I especially like the analogy of government security to animal husbandry and what may seem like the perfect arrangement at the present leads to the worst case scenario in the end. I don't know what you heard to come up with this post? I think it was very truth telling and if he had given this at the convention I believe many Romney delegates would have seen the light. How will you live your life giving up on politics when politics affect everything you will do for the rest of your life?

Uh, I was there. Where were you?

I don't know what video you may have watched, but I assure you that this rally was bold, inspirational and validating.

Dr. Paul's speech was brilliant. After about 20 minutes, I could hear that he was starting to go hoarse, and he spoke for another 20 minutes despite that. He covered every major issue that we have been campaigning for in our neighborhoods and at the local level. He was brilliantly articulate and, well, LOVING. The love just poured out of him for the entire speech.

In my section of the auditorium, I witnessed plenty of people wiping eyes, including my own surreptitious swipes. We stood for most of his speech out of respect and thanks.

So I don't know what video you watched, but I assure you that you are not conveying the sentiment of those who attended.

Make up for it in your locality

I am sympathetic to your sentiments however the only thing we can control are our own thoughts and actions. Proceed accordingly.

I was hoping for a more

I was hoping for a more controversial speech as well. Why didn't he mention the RNC or inform his delegates what their role should be. Why ask for so many delegates to go and show up if your not going to tell them to vote for you. And who am I suppose to follow after Ron Paul retires? I don't know anyone else to trust. If he's retiring it's a safe bet he won't be running for president anymore and I do not trust rand to carry on his torch.

The delegates already know

The delegates already know what to do. He doesn't need to inform them. Dontcha just love liberty?

Simply because he is a true STATESMAN!
